  1. if the ride had the exact same layout it would have been limited to 3 cars per train and only having 4/5 trains its throughput would have been poor.

So when Holiday World wanted to build a launched wing-rider, Intamin must have been their only option because Furious Baco?

Intamin and other manufacturers are perfectly capable of innovating and adapting for their clients needs.

  2. Intamin would have had throughput issues so Gerst were pretty much the only option.

Stealth, Colossus, Thirteen and (at a push) Rita average roundabout the same throughputs as The Smiler, some of them more a lot of the time. So no, not really.
  3. Well maybe you shouldn't make assumptions then.

As it happens, I was away on holiday when Slammer reopened so was not actually aware of it.

Also just to add, rides should be open anyway so I don't see much to praise - but as said, I was away so wasn't actually aware that it was reopen.

You also praised Drayton for extending their opening hours, I'd just like to add Thorpe did this on Saturday as well. :)
  4. As I said it depends on your interpretation of what an inversion is.

For example the Cobra roll on Colossus is counted as two inversions (according to wiki), yet the corkscrews on the last section are all counted individually.

    It's certainly unique though.

That's not an interpretation... A cobra roll is only called as such because of the way the element looks. If you wanted to break it down you could choose to see it as an Immelmann loop into a dive loop or something. It's still 2 inversions either way.
  5. Tbh some new Thrill Flats are needed. As soon as Slammer has another major issue that's gone,Rush is really showing it's age a bit too soon along with Quantum and Zodiac looking a bit knackered. Let's not forget the obvious Samurai just isn't the same. Vortex and Detonator are the only thrill flats still going strong.

More extremely limited-throughput rides with limited lifespans targeting the same limited market that gained Thorpe most of its current issues?
  6. A launched RMC would hardly be a gimmick because that has no selling point to the general public. It would just be a way for the ride to gain sufficient speed to last a decent length circuit, which is surely something everyone would want no?

  7. Apologies for lateness, first time I’ve actually gotten to a computer and not been on the go.

    First record you ever bought…

The whole album really, but this is always a great start. I listened to others previously obviously, but this was the first thing I heard that made me want it straight away and realise that I could actually just go and buy it myself, mad thought back in that day.

Hottest record in the world right now…

Taking that literally this is what I listened to today, a work hangover evidently. Music video's a bit too 'err...' to link to. :P

    A guilty pleasure…

The moment where Pluk starts to regret the entire topic.
