MattyMoo reacted to Benin in Chessington Winter Trail - New For 2014
Gotta get the budget for the Creaky Cafe rebuild somehow
You do get a gift mind for the fiver, and it's quite common now for Grotto's to be paid for, such is the modern world...

So, the park is at capacity and is turning people away. What kind of hell awaits those inside? How close to capacity were they the last couple of days when the park operations royally fell over? How bad can it get, or will they suddenly find a way to cope?...

Amazing night at chessington! Great atmosphere and lighting. Virtually no queues tonight except vampire hit 60 mins at night. Rameses had laser effects and club music plus smoke to give a fantastic atmosphere. Vampire black hollow maze was great and only 15 minute queue. Better night to be had than at TP I think! Even scorpion express at night was great with the fire effects.

MattyMoo got a reaction from pluk in Scarefest
I went to Alton yesterday (21st) - unfortunately, being that we'd booked accommodation there was no flexibility with the date, as the weather today was far far better than yesterday! Me and my mate were utterly drenched by the end of the day, because of the wind the weather changed so quickly from sunshine to chucking it down! We left about 4:30 as we were shattered, cold and wet - still had a good day though!
A few points from the day:
Highest queue I saw was Sonic Spinball at 65 minutes, think I saw Smiler peak at 50 at one point. Smiler opened late due to technical difficulties (I was concerned we weren't going to get a ride at all for my only trip to AT for the year when it didn't open on time!) We rode Blivvy instead which was good. Next we ventured to Dark Forest... Both Thirteen and Rita weren't open, probably due to the weather... so we endured some pain on Sonic instead! No "Choo choo" by the ride op on Mine Train, bad times Didn't bother with the mazes in the end, I noted it was £14 for two, and was only bothered about the Sanctuary... so guessed that would probably be £9 by itself, combined with the aforementioned drenchedness, we gave it a miss! Nemesis certainly felt more intense in the wet. And I prefer it muchly over Inferno... Staff were nice and friendly considering the weather! (Especially staff in CBeebies land - we had to go and have a look as it was new, and have to say we were quite impressed with In The Night Garden ) As it was so dead, Air was on one station operation and as said previously, queues were mostly non existent all day Saw the Ancestors as soon as we arrived, which was a nice touch and added to the magic! We ended up riding the Smiler at about 3:30pm. The weather was nice when we started queuing in the 15 minute queue. By the time we got on - it really wasn't. It wasn't just raining, it was hailing - and as I said on Facebook, we weren't smiling by the time we got off Ouch ouch ouch! Still, one off the bucket list I guess! (Before anyone says, yes I KNOW there are announcements saying you don't have to ride due to weather, yada yada...). Was so cold and wet (and must've been holding on for dear life!) as I had pins and needles in my hands for a good few hours on and off afterwards! Still, I'm pleased with my Smiler TV remote cushion for £14 in the sale - the £9 umbrella isn't the best mind you Get Set Go Treetop Adventure will always be Squirrel Nutty to me Was funny eating doughnuts and then lunch surrounded by pairs of beady eyes of the Alton ducks eyeing up your food! Does anyone REALLY pay £16 for premium parking? I witnessed people that had bought Fasttrack yesterday - maybe those are the same people that buy premium parking..! -

Thirteen's queue wasn't too clever either in parts, but Smiler's took the biscuit. Good to see that the drainage has been worked on in closed season, ahem...

Ooops sorry to hear that!
One thing I forgot to mention about the Smiler - the drainage (or lack of) in the queue is an absolute joke, it was so bad that there was standing water in the projection room too. Some parts of the queue had a good inch of water.

MattyMoo reacted to Benin in Reserve n Ride
It's quite likely that they just skim read it as positive feedback and gave a generic response (like most business' social media)...
Although I've just noticed that Thorpe are also guilty of putting 'trail' instead of 'trial'... #rage

Your/you're is the biggest one that gets my proverbial goat around here That and dropped apostrophes.
Anyway - back to discussion about Reserve and Ride... did people seriously queue (in real life, not virtually) for 4 hours for SAW Alive? That's a horror story in itself without even entering the maze. Precisely why I stay away at peak times, I wouldn't queue 4 hours for anything.

MattyMoo reacted to Jester in Alton Towers General Discussion
I just got back from Alton Towers and I didn't realise it was pi traveller day until at least 11 when I saw some girls dressed up like prostitutes with the worst fan tan I've ever seen.
Luckily they all stick to themselves mostly if you leave them alone. One of the prostitots was checking me out though. I feel violated.
The mazes were great, but traveller CHILDREN were not listening to the poor guide talk through his little speech thing. They held up the ride for 10 minutes by acting like annoying little *****s and when they DID go in to the ride they ran out screaming instantly. It's just annoying as ****. Didn't really have many other interactions with them.

MattyMoo reacted to pluk in New For 2015?
lol
Personally, not on behalf of of TPM, I don't like the speculation dressed as news style combined with the underlying 'we know something you don't know' tone. Clickbait.
Not meant as a 'jibe or attack', just the reason I don't engage with TT any more.

Surely they can't go through with something on a large scale that got such a negative reaction? At least not yet, not until they tweak it big time

So happy I've got everything organised for tonight- RnR is horrific but we noticed we were able to reserve all day and have done Studio, Cabin and MBV and are now in the queue for SAW Alive, we've been lucky though, no more reservations can be made now- the system needs some serious tweaks if they're dumb enough to use it properly

I hadn't even noticed that one, it's going to annoy me every time now. DAMN YOU BENIN.

Say there is 6 in your group on all 6 phones and then you can be in 6 places at once, another great part of the highly thought out and well executed system of RnR.

The smoke wasn't on for all day Friday and Saturday at all. However coming out of Blair Witch I saw a view of the station which I've never seen before, I'm sure some of you have but I thought... that looks pretty cool:

MattyMoo reacted to Mitchada04 in New For 2015?
Yes because Merlin are just openly going to tell a group of 50 enthusiasts their huge plans for the parks future.
The guy who was adamant Smiler was going to have a washing machine element wasn't trying to be a red herring, he was just a person who thought he'd sussed it out and turned out to be wrong yet still hasn't eaten the things he said he would if the secret element wasn't a washing machine.
All the SouthParks article does is show us how slow theyare at ppicking up on things much like Fish's closure.

No, we really don't 'need' the ducks...
What we need is a gutting of all theming and them starting from scratch...

MattyMoo reacted to Exodus Matt in Rita
Whilst I wouldn't say it's the worst coaster in the uk in anytime (Wicksteed's coaster, Turbo & Hero are possibly nominees) it's definitely not a great ride when you compare it to the likes of Nemy, Blivvy, Air, Smiler and even 13 which all in comparison offer a more exciting, immersive and entertaining experience whilst Rita is merely just there and coming off after seeing the ride in motion round the whole area does leave a disappointing taste seeing it looks a lot better off ride (except that stupid scaffolding near the launch which is horrible).
Possibly the worst coaster at towers, Stealth is better IMO.
