  1. I Very much dwell on these opinions.

Jumanji really should have paved the way to iron out some of the many creases within the park. Yet it has seemingly done the opposite. Minus the centre-piece the area looks generally cheap and unfinished with theming pieces already falling apart. It is shocking for an area not even one season old.

As much as I like and enjoy Mandrill, it still leaves me head scratching as to why it was chosen, when there were several other tried and tested family-thrill coasters that would’ve offered a similar enjoyment level with a much higher capacity.

Rest of the park is very much struggling like the past 10-15 years and besides some cosmetic refreshing isn’t any better. Broken rides on lower throughputs, strangled by poor queue distributors. Not to mention the place seems much worse for shutdowns nowadays.

I mean, I still like the park for what it is. But there’s a lot of things they need to sort out!

  2. Interesting thoughts.

Definitely understand the whole Busch situation. The rides were good but the operations were amongst the worst I’ve seen, especially on Iron Gwazi which was averaging at 4.5 minutes when we went. There was a concerning lack of atmosphere too I found.

Sea world was an interesting one and in some ways prefer it to Busch, but that might be down to the good B&Ms they have (yet to ride the new one).

My Disney experience was varied. I personally liked Epcot, but May because of the variety in world showcase. Hollywood Studios has the best overall rides IMO, but definitely lacks filler. I personally prefer Paris main park to Magic Kingdom.

  3. Most of the above is agreeable.

I absolutely adored my numerous rides on Iron Gwazi last October and the ride definitely packed a punch. It definitely isn’t a Steve beater, but is somewhat level pegging with Zadra in many respects. Although that ride may still have it by a fingernail.

It might be number three on my RMCs and Florida coasters, but it sure is a stunning ride. And no doubt a hundred times better than its previous carnation.

  4. I remember my Face It Alone experiences very fondly.

They we’re intense, hands on and completely different on each run through.

Managed to do Cabin In The Woods, Studio 13 and Saw in 2014, Big Top in 2015 and Saw again in 2016. I think my first run through on Saw was my favourite, because of the variety of actors and encounters in there. My 2016 one was probably my least favourite because it seemed rather toned down.

I definitely preferred the setup in the first couple of years, where you could choose your maze and then drink champagne before enduring such a crazy experience.

Would love to see it return one day, though this seems unlikely.

  5. The short answer to your question is no.

No one is ever too old for theme parks, as long as they continue to find them pleasant and enjoyable. Ok, the majority as mentioned are teens/young adults and families, but then again that is just the way things typically swing. Being the school holidays (presumably) is another factor on the above.

If you still enjoy the parks, don’t be put off.

I thought the exact same thing about Adventureville - weirdly reminds me of the bubbleworks.

Ive not visited adventure island since 2017 and gutted about over the hill - I genuinely enjoyed that ride.

Axis looks interesting - is it very intense?  I wasn’t a huge fan of Scorpion so not really fussed that it has gone and the last time I rode Dragons Claw I had to go to the toilet to be sick 🤢 .  As for Time Machine - did it once - never again 😱 - horrific thing!

Great review - was hoping to take my nephews there but I think it’s best to stay away after what you mentioned about lack of social distancing etc 👌

I think Adventure Ville is such a lovely happy and upbeat ride. Something the U.K. perhaps needs more of.

Axis is definitely intense but enjoyable too, a bit like an afterburner except it goes all the way over several giving a strange yet unique feeling of hangtime.

Time Machine was crazy and definitely a paracetamol job post riding.

Definitely a pleasant enough park but given current situations I probably won’t return for a while.

  7. Phantasialand on the whole is generally a great park and one of my favourites. A lot of their rides such as Taron & Chiapas I consider masterpieces in their own ways.

There is definitely room to improve the offering further and a lot of it comes down to the entrance setup and older attractions. I think China might be getting redeveloped next but the entrance setup is definitely a challenging one as Josh’s points mention.

As for food, I consider it arguably the best park for food, from quick service to sit down restaurants. I do recommend Rutmoore’s Tavern if you return or the ice cream place near Chiapas if you fancy a snack.

  8. Your thoughts share similarities to my own when I visited.

Cologne is an interesting city with quirks but definitely not the best looking by any means and if anything industrial. The Cathedral is ace though! The Chocolate museum looks nice and I hope to visit there if I return again.

2020 has been an unacceptable year, surprised that statue hasn’t been more vandalised.

  9. Zeus is an interesting one.  I still liked it but came off feeling a little underwhelmed because it just seemed to lack something compared to the likes of Wodan, Troy, etc.

Oziris is pure class though and maybe even underrated. I found Gouderix rough on both my rides, which were during  the start of my day.

Having read the review, I get the impression you like water rides! They do have some great ones there too. Shame the madhouse wasn’t running properly  as it is usually a great attraction. However given things currently  that’s understandable sadly. L’Aerolaf sounds unique and I always wondered what it was when I went.

The ommitance of a major dark ride is definitely noticeable. They used to have a ghost train called Transdemonium, but they removed it last year and use it’s space for winter events. Hopefully they can open a new one after the coaster is built.

Good to see the park doing a reasonably good job with handling things and definitely consider the place underrated in many ways.
