  1. Looking forward to this meet, seeing everyone again plus first ever visit to the dungeons, Madame Tussaud's and Winter Wonderland. But in terms of going home after the meet, is anyone planning to use any of the following underground lines for part/all of their journey? Metropolitan, Piccadilly, Jubilee
  2. I think the park definitely needs more which reopening CCR and the cinema would be a good resolution. Unless you have a strong stomach (or enter a 30+ min queue) the only rides you can do after lunch are a Rumba, Loggers, Caroulsel and Storm Surge at the most. It looks very likely we won't see anything new next year, at least on a medium to large scale.
  3. I'm also very frustrated with the price rises of ORP last year after what seemed a few years of sustained costs. In 2012, it was £20 for 5 photos but now it's £20 for 4 of them. In fact at towers, it's £25 for four photos and four downloads so tech I ally there, you're paying more for less than last year. There was discount that did appear in 2012 for pass holders on photos, but I think this has Seinfeld been removed. Unless prices change for the better next year, I'm unlikely to buy many (if any) ORPs in 2014.
  4. During the last few years (2009-2012) I've always wanted to visit Chessington during a zoo day, smaller crowds, more focus on zoo and selected rides. However this year I plan to avoid it completely as it's not worth the 45 minute drive for what's there. Despite their apparent upgrade plans, I have low expectations for 2014. As I expect mine train and falls will be lightly rethemed, the bird garden less impressive than expected and generally bad operations still happening throughout the park. The only thing I expect will look nice will be the hotel extension, but that's probably because that makes them more money than paying guests.
  5. Watched the latest Hunger a Games movie last. Thought the film was very good and although it does start a bit slowly, I thought the film covered the book very well. I think there could've been a bit more action during the major scenes of the film but I generally found it a very good movie and would rate it as good as the first one. Incidentally, I had to re watch most of the film in another screening as during the first 45 minutes of the first screening, the picture suddenly stopped but the sound was still running and I was soon told there were problems in the screening room. Maybe the projector was catching fire ?
  6. Colossus (5) Depth Charge (5) Detonator (5) Flying Fish (5) Loggers Leap (5) Nemesis Inferno (6) Quantum (5) Rocky Express (5) Rumba Rapids (2) Rush (5) Samurai (4) SAW: The Ride (5) Slammer (7) Stealth (5) Storm in a Teacup (3) Swarm (7) Tidal Wave (5) X (6) Rocky express -1 X +1
  7. Currently a maybe for this trip at the moment. I've voted the first and last choice however both are uncertain as I have a lot of deadlines around the 4th and could have family birthday celebrations on the 25th.
  8. 2014's meet list sounds very exciting. I hope I can make it to most if not all of the days. In terms of the meets, I've really enjoyed each meet I've attended for different reasons. Not just enjoying lots of different rides and chatting with different people and finishing the busy days and reflecting on how good they were at after meet meals. Would recommend anyone who hasn't attended a TPM meet to go to one next year.
  9. Over the Hill originally opened in 2000 which was then known as Beelzee Bobs trail. In 2008, the ride was rethemed to its current ride form which is Over The Hill.
  10. I'm very happy Summer Nights and MOS have returned for 2014. I hope they are a great success for the park.
  11. I say retheme the ride to one based on lights and sound just like X then it will be an improvement . Even plonk it in some warehouse building.
  12. Here's what I'd like to see at future meets, Visits to Blackpool and Oakwood Additional meets at one or two of the following, Paultons Park, Adventure Island, Great Yarmouth (the pleasure beach and Pleasurewood hills) or Legoland. A meet in the very north (lightwater and flamingo) and Western Europe (Disneyland, Asterix etc.) but probably not until there's enough members e.g an average meet count of around 30 or more.
  13. Will be interesting to see if we see Marc Simpsons as the uk's worst ride As for best new ride for 2014, the only new additions we know of so far are an Ip retheme of an ageing land! a giant playground and a few rethemed so not much although there's some exciting projects going on abroad though.
  14. New coloured track with red supports,a rumoured new name and perhaps a new train? I feel quite concerned about this 'so called' retheme and I feel they will either do a pretty good or absolutely shocking job at it. If they do this retheme well,we could see some sort of new rock structure, a heavy scorpion themed train and interactive queue line. But if they just place random bit of theming throughout the ride without any form of indoor structure like the fish, I will be extremely disappointed.
  15. I definitely remember the storm surge music through the queue plus the announcements to the hold tight during the right. TBh was one of the few things about the ride that were actually good.
  16. The following rides are still scary for me, Samurai, the ride goes all over the place and you don't know what direction you're going in Rush, It's scary at the top as it feels like you're going too all out
  17. Judging by Chessington's standards, they'll probably theme the ride around some western animal (perhaps a Buffalo), add new cartoony signage and ride colours then throw a few bits of old random theming around the ride. TBH I have low expectations for this 'apparent' re theme and as long as we don't see any rocks or fundamental structure/tunnel within the ride, I shall be very disappointed . I don't hold my breath for Fall's retheme either.
  18. Swarms a good ride with some decent theming in places, however the problem with the ride is that it's too short and needs a slightly longer circuit as I find the brakes helix ending on the ride quite anticlimactic to the rest of the experience unlike most of the other coasters which I feel obtain an appropriate ending. I think the limited landscape they have had, they've done a pretty good job blending it in the area, that being said, the queue has no atmosphere and feels boring and should of at some point gone through an indoor section with some interactive elements e.g Saw and Thirteen then the experience would be a more impressive experience. I rarely pay attention to the queue videos and I don't find much wrong with them although they don't really build up to the experience. Still one of the better coasters at the park IMO.
  19. Judging by the sounds of things, it looks like a lot of work is happening at Chessington this closed season despite having no photographs yet. However I strongly that some of the park will look nice and fresh again once it re-opens in 2014, although that is asking a lot from a park that has reached a state where theming has decayed so much it has been condemned unsafe.
  20. April would probably be best as I'm not sure what I'm doing in march, except probably lots of work and hopefully a couple of themepark visits.
  21. Those prices sound ludicrous, £7 for star shape is a lot. Doubt I'll do more than 2/3 rides when I go as I'd probably need a loan to ride everything there. My local fair which comes in may usually with a decent selection of rides (booster, extreme,Tagada etc.) and most rides are £2/£3 which is much more reasonable.
  22. A behind the scenes social would be brilliant.
  23. I would love to do this please and would be strongly interested.
  24. There has been rumours of this happening for some time. I'm personally hoping this doesn't happen as there's more than enough Thomas rides now.
  25. Looking at the pictures makes it show how exciting and hopeful this project is going to be, not just bringing (back) another amusement to the uk but also holding a selection of classic rides too. However seeing how run down it looks (which isnt surprising in the time of 7 years) is rather saddening to see and I hope they can successfully rebuild & restore the scenic and cinema there.
