Glitch reacted to pluk in Project WC16 - New for 2016
I'm sure both styles of marketing can be effective and good, and both can be done poorly.
I don't find what we have seen so far particularly engaging; partly because what has been put out there are all such disparate nuggets of nothing that there is no opportunity to establish any real coherence of theme, and partly because by previously using every trick in the book inappropriately (compared to what was eventually delivered) anything Merlin has to say about an upcoming attraction has practically no meaning anyway. It's all been guff too many times before; they could be actually building the most 'game changing' super amazing best in the world attraction ever, but no one will be believe them based on previous experience and no one will come, and they'll sit there scratching their heads at why. Like they did last time.

On park now. More park wide theming than last year, clumps of hay bails have started appearing in random areas around park with bunting put up in a few areas too. Big top has it's queue being worked on with ramps built up to the entrance. The audio for fright nights this year is very VERY good!! Absolutely love it, will post photos and anything else I notice later.

If you're a premium pass holder it's £1 to book online if you want to - or you can just turn up and they'll give you next available time slot.
If you're a standard pass holder you MUST book the the £1 time slot online beforehand
If you're a VIP passholder, you get escorted right to the front.
I dislike the £1 it costs to book. They claim it's because some people book and then don't turn up. They should make it a deposit, then.
It's an absolutely bloody triumph of an attraction.

Like spoilers for tv shows, I prefer not to know the full story until I walk into the attraction, I deliberately stayed clear of Shrek spoilers and am glad I did because if I'd have known about it in advance, it wouldn't have been so much fun going through the attraction.
Having said that, drip feeding info invariably leads to high expectations, which are rarely fulfilled in reality.

Putting Hopkins in there does not seem a smart move if they are looking to reduce the amount of assaults on actors!

Having experienced Shrek today, and knowing Thorpe's recent love affair with live actor maze type attractions, I'm now convinced more so than ever that this is going to be something along the lines of Shrek, I.e. simulator type experience + live actors.

Has any-one else also spotted this in the code:
"A journey that will wrench you from your cosy everyday existence into a warped new reality. We’ll take you to a place where nothing is ever as it seems and nobody who visits will ever see things the same way again.

An experience designed to challenge your perceptions and mean you’ll never look just once again.

Keep your eyes and mind open, don’t take all you see on appearances alone and you could be one of the first to experience The Island’s newest attraction in 2016."
EDIT: I've just found the actual page this is displayed on... Not the find I thought it would be lol
Edit 2 (So I don't double post):
Since reading this.. I'm thinking that there will be some element of false danger here... Like finding yourself lead a stray in the dark and lights come on to reveal that you're actually on the tracks at a tube station.. or something to that effect - but you have been lead to believe that you are safe and blindly follow... It's the "challenge your perceptions and mean you'll never look just once again" - I'm sensing that this is going to be an "all is not as it seems" type ride

And I don't think its a coincidence that they've got announcement day on the day that the clocks go forward...

Experiment 10 is without a doubt the scariest and best maze Thorpe have ever done, if we don't see it return when the Lionsgate partnership ends I'll be disappointed. Although it had throughput issues, the isolation chambers were just so intense, waiting for something to happen. Best maze I've ever done.
Big Top looks great, and roaming clowns were the best roaming actors in the last 5 years

I'm fairly convinced this wont have an IP. I'm not saying it wont be sponsored by a well known brand, but I think we will see a unique and fresh dark ride that is not related to anything we currently know. Anyone old enough to remember the 5th Dimension will know that IP's are not necessary for a successful dark ride!!

Well, I think it was decided pretty early that this ride absolutely must be for the family market but the marketing is a little… serious.
