I have actually been to Alton Towers several times this year and haven't visited Thorpe once HAHA!!
Join the club (only difference being I haven't been to Towers this year - let alone ANY M£rlin attraction)
Seriously though it's great to have you back Paige!

Been a brilliant year for me park-wise. Plenty of new parks and only one familiar (yet brilliant) one. And the best thing? Not a M£rlin park in sight.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach: x1
Kolmarden: x1
Liseberg: x4
Efteling: x2
Phantasialand: x2
Toverland x1
Highlight for me this year was undoubtedly Efteling as not only was it my first solo trip abroad (which, for one thing, gave me plenty of me-time after an awful week) but it was a weekend shared with the amazing Planet Coaster community which not only made my first couple of times at Efteling really memorable, but also finally turned tables on my mental health for the better. While it doesn't quite have the same lineup Liseberg offers, it's still a beautifully themed and kept park with some incredible dark rides.

Realistically - the entrance needs sorting out properly. I hate what they've done with it, it is a dreadful way to welcome anyone to anywhere let alone a theme park which should be a place of joy and escapism.
It would kind of be OK if it left you feeling safe but security, it's primary aim being to keep out restricted items, is worse than it was previously as so long as you don't have a bag you saunter on through the middle with no checks at all. Yeah, I'm sure everyone keeps their knives, drugs and firearms in a bag!
They need to make the entrance welcoming while achieving at least some level of security. I don't really know what the answer is, but the mess we currently have which achieves neither is not it!
Inside the park I'd just like it cleaned. So much of it is so grotty. Ride stations and shops especially are filthy. It's not much to ask and should be a basic but there is clearly no system in place to actually clean things.
It's really easy to compare Thorpe with Efteling here for instance. Efteling has that beautiful entrance, along with its music playing right down the pathway leading down to it. I remember feeling so welcomed when I went back in July, which is why just listening to its entrance music never fails to cause goosebumps. Not to mention there's plenty of space to move around. At Thorpe however, you're literally FORCED through security whether you have bags or not (which, additionally, makes the entrance a lot more cramped) and generally it's just a really uncomfortable experience for a place that's claimed to be "happy and light hearted".

Who wants to bet the building will be used for a dark ride?
...putting 2p on it because of course it'll NEVER happen.

Now that Merlin have officially been taken over and the park have hopefully spent the year creating an LTDP that will actually return the park back to its former glory (its fair to say since The Swarm has been installed the park has become progressively worse with each passing year) one can presume that the changes in said LTDP will be implemented starting next year so unlike for the 2018-2019 closed season which we knew wouldn't have anything major happening hopefully we can see interesting reports of things happening at the park this winter till next year.

its my work Christmas party the day before so may be a bit worse for wear haha. Probably winter wonderland at the earliest I guess!
Despite the choice of names, Hangover while hungover is not advisable.

I'll be there, Spoons onwards though. Not in a Dungeons mood this year.

Perhaps the winning roller coaster they pitch will be the next coaster at Thorpe Park?
You wish.

One rumour about next year never fails to make me cringe really.
Enthusiasts who actually think Thorpe are getting an RMC next year:

No sign of the Toverland group photo though from August?

Re-surfacing this thread as I'm now happily in a position where I can reveal my handsome mug on this site (damn those social media policies!)
Pity back row on Shambhala is undoubtedly the only good thing at PortAventura these days...
Funny thing here is not only are the majority of the people behind me under the height restriction for The Walking Dead (seriously)...but one of them has just had their entire photo ruined by my arm. Sorry Swedish kid.
Nothing much to say about this one...Valkyria is a VERY good dive coaster.
Taking one for the team on Chiapas. Front row is undoubtedly the firing line for wetness but fortunately Germany were also in a heatwave at the time!
...and finally, more or less as a plot twist (but a very fitting one) but this is me on Bob at Efteling (for the last time ever - even if I'd only ridden it twice in its lifetime) along with several of the Planet Coaster community during a meetup back in July.

I know what to do with mid-section:
Increase the tension
Add an alarm system
Fix smoke and strobe lights
Add more actors or announcements
Make horns louder, like at The Walking Dead: The Ride
Make trains light blink, either before, during, or after the horn honks
Add more projections of monsters and zombies
Make it feel like an earthquake
Bring the smell of gas in
Add smoke and strobe lights at the loading side of the station
Make even more panic
Make it even more intense
And finally, SPRUCE IT ALL UP!
I have a simpler solution.
...DEMOLITION.

Jack Sickstone, 10/10 for all the mazes
Bear in mind this is someone who prefers FN over Tulleys...so that would be a no brainer.

Lets just hope that our favourite influencers all got an invite, so that the mazes can all be spoiled with POV's before the GP get a chance to experience them.
...followed by Mr Sickstone over here squealing into his camera that Creek Freak Massacre is the "sickest maze he's ever done"...
(I'm calling it)

2019 Season
in The Past
Posted
Where it's coming from is my time working there, more specifically my final season in 2018. I'll explain with a true story: Imagine working with people who are expected to be "friendly and nice" towards guests, so they do so on that end...but behind the scenes, some simply don't care about you or your mental health issues...while one in particular thinks it's funny to screw you over and quite honestly just mentally destroy you. And now imagine you're explaining your situation to others in hopes of them understanding how it's making you feel, and they reply with "Oh 'this person'? She's lovely! She's very caring and I'm sure she didn't mean it etc.". And what's more is that even after I left (and seemingly escaped), I was made aware of a bullying incident where a lot of staff from my area were generally being really horrible about others, especially the kind-hearted ones. And surprisingly, these also included people I'd previously thought were really nice! It's not nice when you're the only one who knows the truth about someone through experience and everyone else thinks differently, it's selfish. And that's why I'm writing this post, not to be controversial, but simply to point out that following a lot of trauma I was put through, the last thing I need to hear is of the same select people who made my last season there miserable getting recognised for being something they're not.
