  1. On trips to Cedar Point, I have seen old couples walking around the park and still enjoying themself.

I was at Efteling on Tuesday and again I saw people a wide variety of ages enjoying the park.

So I wouldn't say there is a "too old" for going to theme parks. I suppose it entirely depends on how much you enjoy them personally as the years go by.

I fully intend to be riding Steel Vengeance and Zadra well into my 70s if my health allows!!!

  2. The Europa vs Phantasia debate is a hard one for me

They are absolutely Europe's two best parks. Without a doubt.

Europa to me is an amazing overall park, but for me its all about the quality over the quantity. Europa has a massive selection of good to great rides but I personally would have Taron (and possibly Black Mamba) over any one of the Europa coasters and I would have Chiapas (and possibly River Quest) over any of the Europa water rides. Where I find Europas coasters to be good to great, Taron is simply world class and makes me want to go back to Phantasia as much as I can. Europa does not really have that one coaster that makes me want to do that in my opinion. Not to dismiss Wodan though!!

Sooner TOTNH is ripped out the better!! Diabolical coaster that makes X look like Rock an Roller Coaster. As others have said, this very well could be the next area for investment (if not China)

Foodwise, definitely try out Rutmoors in a future visit. One of the absolute best theme park restaraunts out there.

Glad to see you enjoyed the park!! :)

I hated the batching system on Hyperion, so sad to learn it's been adopted on Zadra too. Just confusion and faff for no real reason in my opinion.

A shame you don't particularly rate Energylandia as a park. Whilst it's true parts of it have a fun fair feel to it, I think a good chunk of it is a decent park with enough fun rides and okay levels of theming to be considered on par with plenty of other parks out there. And they're forever improving too, which is great to see.

I detest the system. Especially as a guy who enjoys waiting for the back!!

Dont get me wrong, I still like the park. Zadra and Hyperion are amazing coasters and some of the water rides are good fun and I think it has a bright future. I just cant bring myself to like the funfair feeling areas aswell as them padding its coaster count with kiddy coasters left right and centre. Oh, plus viking was utterly horrific!!

Its still a top ten park to me but to me its nowhere near as enjoyable as an overall park as the likes of Phantasia,Europa or Efteling.

The future however is very bright for it though and I do look forward to following its future.

  4. Another very good write up Josh!!

The quality of this event and in particular, The Clinic and below is absolutely wonderful!! Scare zones are also well done and the four standard mazes also are very acceptable attractions.

In terms of the crowds, I was there on a Saturday and it was manic with Untamed clocking in at just under 3 hours at one point. I would highly recommend fastlane. I bit the bullet and got the Platinum (or whatever it was called) package that knocks 90 percent off the queues and managed 12 goes on Lost Gravity, 8 on Goliath and a whopping 30 on Untamed so it's very good value for money in the sense of how it works and how quickly it actually gets you on the rides and especially good for those who love their rerides particularly when taken into account the sheer length of queue each major ride amassed. The RIP pass is also something I would recommend to those wanting to do the mazes. Each maze had queues of atleast an hour when I was present so the RIP pass was also worth the price. Not keen on upcharging for mazes when the gate prices have already been increased for Halloween but with the quality each maze had, suppose I could justify the upcharge.

Crowd levels aside (which is to be expected on a Saturday in fairness), a truely wonderful event and an event I would recommend people visiting if the opportunity presents itself.

  5. Very interesting read up as always :)

Whilst Kings Island to me is not a park to travel all the way to America for on its own, it is most certainly worth a visit when combined with days at Cedar Point. I actually enjoyed the atmosphere at the park when I visited but certainly not an atmosphere on the level of Cedar Point.

Mystic Timbers to me was by far the star of the show at this park. Whilst front row on it isn’t really that great, the back row felt utterly frantic and the ride at night is sentastional and as such made it my number 1 wooden coaster (even ahead of Wodan and Balder)

I do think Diamondback is probably one of my least favourite B&M Hypers but I was quite lucky to have had some solid rides on it airtime wise. I do agree that that trim is utterly stupid though.

Banshee...where do I even start!!?? Can somebody please tell B&M that NOBODY LIKES THOSE DAMN VESTS!! Honestly was it not for those vests, it could have been up there with Raptor and Montu as one of my favourite inverts. Thanks to those vests it’s possibly my least favourite and that includes Nemesis Inferno!!

I do think the park desperately needs a true WORLD CLASS/ELITE level stand out coaster to go with the current line up. Hopefully the 2020 Giga coaster will give them that.
