I have applied with Nimbus Disability but they haven’t got back to me yet. Is there anything I can do on park tomorrow morning before I go in to try get RAP or do I have to wait for Nimbus Disability to get back to me first?

If not am I allowed to bring something like a chair or stool to sit down on in the queues or is that not allowed?

I would recommend speaking to Thorpe Park directly. Perhaps try emailing or calling them.

  2. There were no specific VIPs, I'm not calling out anyone. Basically I heard quite a few people on Thursday and Friday giving rave reviews, and then actually experiencing it was very different!

    My spoiler review is below:

    Spoiler

    Preshow 1

I actually liked this preshow. The effects were good and the scenery was actually very well done. The story was perhaps a little convoluted, but on the whole a good start. It made me excited to experience the attraction.

    Preshow 2

We moved onto the area just before the old hanging carriage. There was a TV screen showing a mock weather present giving out eerie messages. Again, I enjoyed this part. Great for building up atmosphere. So far so good.

    Entering the train

This was also well done. A bit of a shame that the hanging carriage was gone, but the room looked great.

    Train 1

The train leaves the station and...it's just some guys talking for a long time whilst nothing else happens. I thought that maybe this was just  build up to something more exciting. I'll wait and see...

    Mid section

We exit the train and enter the Crypt. The Crypt could be described charitably as 'patchy'. Apparently black curtains everywhere counts as theming now. The actors give a lengthy dialogue which builds up to... a Tomb glowing orange for a bit. Hmm, a bit of a let down. Oh, and then a man in a hood walks around. That's very underwhelming, but hey, maybe the second train might be good...

    Train 2

The actors ham it up for a bit, there's some UV paint, and two actors dressed as nuns walk around.

A horrible sinking feeling rises...this is it, isn't it? Two nuns, a man with a hood, some discount Halloween scenery and lots of talking. That's the Ghost Train experience. Are you kidding me.

The fakeout shop is still there, it does little to improve the experience.

I like the dungeons attractions. I don't inherently dislike actor led experiences. However, those work because there are multiple rooms which are densely themed and there are many different stories and variety in the scenes. This did not have the variety or dense theming to back up the experience.

In short, I really just don't think a lot happens. The scenery is poor to non-existant and the acting is very repetitive and doesn't build up to anything. It just felt like nothing of any substance actually happened.

Is it a surprise that most positive reviews came from the VIP Preview night?

Though when DBGT was an apparent mess anything would seem better.

I agree, I feel lied to by those VIP reviews. I had a look on Thorpe Park's FB page and the general public are absolutely trashing the attraction.

  4. I just went on it. I have no idea how anyone has given this a good review. It was so bad.

I'll do a proper spoiler review later, but in short it felt like a lot of overacting whilst basically nothing happened.  The new theming was bare at best. Terrible.

I would love to know what people who enjoyed it saw in this attraction, but I am legitimately baffled as to how it could be considered by anyone to be anything above 'dire'.

I have just looked back at the Alton Towers 2022 Park map. I was looking at Gloomy Wood. I spotted an inaccuracy in the location of Dave’s Crypt. Dave’s Crypt was in between the former Food Kiosk and Duel. On the map Dave’s Crypt is shown to be at the end of Haunted Hollow.

They also show the absolutely massive gardens as absolutely tiny, I think it's just creative license.

Can everybody who was dubious about my hunch apologise? I have been saying for months that Emily Alton and Snowy have “repossessed” The Haunted House and ended the Duel. I am elated to hear Emily Alton has evicted the Zombies but I am proud to have proved the vast majority of the Thorpe Park Mania members wrong. In my soul I always knew Emily could conquer the Zombies it was only a matter of time. I cannot begrudge Emily for turning evil. I would be less than pleasant if some Zombies with guns broke in and squatted in my abode for 19 years.

On a serious note which scenes do you expect to remain from the original Haunted House/Duel? I am expecting the Dining Room,Hall Of Spiders and Gholish Garden to be part of The Curse At Alton Manor. I think the Duck from The Flume may be included maybe they’ll be a pond in the Garden with the Duck on. Manor Houses do have ponds and very often Ducks inhabit them. I can confirm the carriages and ride system is 100% the same. If your being pedantic the Carriages have had the guns and scoreboards removed..

@Trooper Looper I think the ride will start of as Emily Alton being a sweet girl then she’ll turn sinister than at the last minute become nice. @Trooper Looper do you share my excitement on Alton Towers dedicating a ride to one of their best and underused characters.

I'm sure I'll apologise if you do the same for your inaccurate predictions for Rocky Express and Forbidden Tomb.

A stopped clock is right twice a day. You saw a rumour, believed it, then it turned out to be true. You didn't come up with it magically of the top of your head. You are not Nostradamus.

@Benin Rocky Express is reopening at a Theme Park it’s called Ride Heaven.

My cat went to cat heaven I.e. it died, much like Rocky Express.

I restate, it is completely possible that the Emily Alton rumour is true. However, you aren't psychic or in the know because you saw and believed rumours which turned out to be true. We can all do that.

@Benin There are more people that believe The Curse Of Alton Manor will be a tour around Emily Alton and Snowy’s Dollshouse than not.

Is your confidence in this less than or more than your confidence in Rocky Express returning or Forbidden Tomb returning?

It is entirely possible you are correct, but don't claim you're somehow a knowledge on this because you've simply followed other people's speculation.

I expect to see Rocky Express refurbished and relocated to Amity Beach. To be precise I think Rocky Express will be located in the area formerly occupied by Wet Wet Wet. I also expect to see some track that has arrived for Project Exodus. This is unlikely but I hope Slammer would’ve been removed. Slammers been SBNO for over 5 years.

You believe that removing Slammer is 'unlikely', yet your equally made up and unfounded opinion that Rocky Express will be relocated is something you 'expect'.

    OK

Give me some of your most controversial Thorpe Park opinions.

    I'll go first...

Logger's Leap was a mediocre log flume and the only reason why people miss it is because they're afraid of change.

I legitimately liked to do it 2-3 times per visit, more than the coasters. It was just fun  ok, it wasn't the best log flume, but it was my favourite thing at Thorpe after Stealth.

My controversial opinion: the Walking Dead The Ride is a great ride, and one of my current favourites at the park. I think it gets over-hated because the thene doesn't suit the family coaster track, but other than that I think they've pulled it off really well.

    6. The ride opened in 1984. I think it's officially older than nearly everyone on this forum. Not exactly brand new when it got burnt.

@JoshC.Wicked Witches Haunt Opened in 1994. When the ride initially opened it was known as Phantom Fantasia. This ride although still horror based offered a different experience. Wicked Witches Haunt technically only operated for 5 years. I class this as brand too fairly new. I’ll check out Wicked Witches Haunt’s clone At Europa Park. It’s comforting that Wicked Witches Haunt lives on even though not in England.

The Wicked Witches Haunt retheme/rebrand opened in 1994, but the original opened in the 1980s as Josh noted. They were not really that different.

Regarding Geisterschloss as Europa Park, it's a similar ride type but not a clone. There's different scenes throughout.
