really? I think X Sector is extremely shabby and tacky these days. I used to like the 'idea' of it but it never really came to reality. Same for Smiler, other than the ride itself which is fun.

For me its really all about the Smiler. It just dominates the X Sector, the blaring music, the two trains roaring around the course. And the weird sound effects. Oblivion also has its own little thing going on in the back. Its not a perfect area, but The Smiler is such a good centerpiece IMO.

Its way better than Intamin forest anyway.

  2. So a flat ride has been seen being constructed on the Submission site.. It looks pretty bright colored and tacky, ehhhh. I am worried it will ruin their respective areas. X sector is the coolest area of the park, Oblivion and especially Smiler has an amazing atmosphere around it. I'd be pissed if they ruin that amazing atmosphere.

I hope they try and make the other ones more subtle, cos jesus..

  3. So this is late, but earlier this year (months ago) Six Flags landed themselves in hot water with enthusiasts at Over Georgia. Now I am not one to back enthusiasts who are entitled, but..

So the camera and loose items policy is kinda annoying, but meh not too serious I guess.

But that loose leg on Superman kind of seems a bit dangerous to me?

Six Flags got a lot of flack for it, and I honestly think it is for a good reason. I am not sure how vital that leg flap is, but I do think having that leg flap not be locked, and then none of the staff noticing the leg flap was not locked on the lift, or in the station is kind of poor.

It makes me question whether New Texas Giant's incident was completely Six Flags's staff training as well.. Maybe Gerstlauer were 100% correct to blame Six Flags.

  4. Jungle Escape I hope one day becomes a maze spot again, or maybe even a space for a show during the summer (like how it used to host Brainiac).

TWD, DBGT, and Black Mirror can all be bulldozed together please. Imagine the amount of space it would open up, and it is not like they would be removing much. I am sure Black Mirror will be fun though, for a month.

  5. So half of Lightning Rod has recieved Iron Horse treatment due to issues with the track not being to able to withstand the sheer speed on some sections. Here is a rough picture of what sections are still topper track.

It is now open, though it has been said the ride is still incredibly problematic, primarily due to its launch.

The ride has been shown to still have rollbacks, and when it rolls back it usually does not open for the rest of the day..

I honestly do not know what Dollywood are going to do next. The ride has been such a pain since 2016. Great coaster in terms of the actual ride, but absolutely a nightmare. They asked for a RMC, not a intamin.

  6. Strange.. I honestly do not think the VR could work at all in a post covid world so either they remove the backbone of the attraction or they have their heads in the clouds when writing this. Imagine the H&S, the headsets would be the perfect place for covid to spread right?

The Walking Dead should be okay, though I doubt we will have any actors at all. Which is, okay. I do wonder how the old 'no empty seat' rule would go down though. As obviously you cannot pair up with a other group, so if you have a odd number you are screwed. Overall I wouldn't be surprised if both rides did not open at all tbh

  7. I have to say even though they will never recieve large coasters, Legoland Windsor does get treated quite well in terms of investment. This is another addition to a pretty extensive list of flat and dark rides which make up the lineup. I believe Merlin has made the best out of a bad situation with this park, as basically any coaster model is out of limits (a bloody wild mouse was too noisy).

I am glad we have a flying theatre here in the UK now, I do love them. Even if it will not touch the likes of Voletarium (god, what a flying theatre that ride is). If only Merlin gave a flying theatre or something like Ninjago to Thorpe. Imagine if a Ninjago type (not the theme, the ride model) was added to Thorpe instead of DBGT?

  8. Well I guess we asked for flat rides, and we got flat rides (albeit, for a year). I find it surpising that Merlin are happy to invest in basically anything at Alton besides flat rides. Heck they gave them a GCI, a dark ride, but they won't give them a single flat which are pretty inexpensive for the most part. I hope this year proves a point, and that giga breakdance-topspin hybrid will be built.

  9. I'm going to do four, sue me.

    1: The Layout

Thorpe Park is an incredibly compact and easy to navigate park, by far the most easy out of the 4 merlin parks. This is great as you don't have to walk too far to get from point A to point B like you do at Alton for example.

    2: Flat Ride Collection

Thorpe have the strongest flat ride collection in the UK imo. Detonator is my favourite drop tower of all time, and then rides like Samurai, Vortex, Rush, Quantum, Zodiac, and the bumper cars is a pretty good lineup. Samurai and Detonator being both pretty great rides that are always worth a ride.

    3. Nemesis Inferno

Sometimes the smaller inverts are better than the bigger ones. Years ago I would of said it is naff, but I have came to respect it for that great ride that it is.

Smooth, forceful, reliable. Best coaster by far in the park in my opinion.

    4. Fright Nights

Fright Nights alongside Tulleys really drove the scare attraction industry in those early years. Fright Nights was the pioneer for a lot of those years. Other events today would not be the same if Fright Nights did not exist, very few scare events came before Fright Nights. And it was the biggest of its kind when it debuted.

I have a love/hate relationship with it nowadays, but it can be a good time, even now.

  10. Tbf I think if Covid didn't exist it would of not been long before it was winded down. Look at Galactica, VR was a passing fad in the theme park industry. A phase, a lot of VR is done as an experiment, and then taken off.

The problem here is that the Ghost Train's main core experience relied on that passing fad. They put their eggs in the basket that was on fire.

It had like 30 - 50 minute queues in 2019 and even if us enthusiasts would give it a miss it reduces queues slightly on the other rides.

On my visits during the peak summer, fright nights, and a moderate day on a saturday. It was walk on every time. The only walk on ride may I add, Vortex had a 40 minute queue on the same day. TWD literally had a queue of about 5 people. The throughput isn't even good to begin with.

  12. I like the expansion, but I hope it doesn't expand too rapidly, look at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure/Geauga Lake. Sometimes building things left and right can not end well. I hope the park hits its attendance targets, I hope to go there someday. I think Eastern Europe is a bit of a untapped market so hopefully a large park like Energylandia can attract people from far away. Countries like Slovakia for example has no real near good parks (maybe other than Wiener Prater in nearby Austria which seems like a funfair really).

  13. So apparently (and this is really fu**ing loose because it is from a Jack Silkstone video) a bunch of trees have been cut in the Loggers Leap area. Sooo.... What do you guys think? I honestly have a theory but its a little wild and out of budget for a park like Thorpe.

    Spoiler

    A new Bird Bath

Seriously though I doubt this means anything at all. Maybe a statue of Sean Sanbrooke, our lord and saviour?
