Really don’t see the point in heavily theming a ride that you’re either 200ft in the air or flying by at 80mph. Save the pennies for the next one instead 😏

Am I the only one that actually likes the fact it turns white at different points? Think it breaks it up from looking too basic personally. Guess a fade would have looked better though.

Great choice in my opinion. Nice and vibrant, and will tie it in well with amity next door. Looks fantastic

I have to be honest. I thought it would look horrendous. But I actually really like it now it’s going in.

I’m 100% all in for feel good thrills. One thing I love about hyperia is that the theme isn’t dark. Really think Thorpe moving in a more uplifting direction is a massive positive

There’s some aerial shots that have been posted on Instagram of the site. Looks to be all but complete footer wise, maybe 20 left in some various stages of completion.

Also looks like there’s an access route prepared to reach the back of the site, so I would say not far off going vertical at all now.

    Few points

    1. Most recent JS update (filmed last Tuesday) clearly showing the increasing volume of supports on the island… also interesting that they are arranged with numbers, also suggesting the order they will be brought to the construction site for erection.

    2. JS also stating that site manager has stated mid -end of September for ride supports going vertical which takes this week and next week out of it, and thus the vertical element being spoken about must be either ride station or maintenance hub.

    3. From the 2 points above, clear deviation from the original plan in terms of site priorities which makes it difficult to track actual progress against the plan. Hunch says behind by 4-6 weeks based on it, however the station/maintenance is ahead which may allow the systems install to stay on plan.

Concious all of the above very boring points, but interesting at the same time 😂

Heard it’s the station this week on a few sources. Looking at the most recent update from TPG they’re saying 80% of footers complete and steel for station has been spotted.

Site looks like it needs a bloody good clear up though, right mess at the moment

Apparently Track arriving next week and construction due to go vertical at the end of the week or the start of the week after if everything stays on plan. Mini heat wave next week should help that along.

Station footers phase 1 have gone in, and work is now progressing on footers for the lift hill and the top end of the site where the double turnaround elements will be.

Pace seems to be picking up frantically, but still think march is aggressive given the volume of work to do on site including the reinstating of the lake!

I delved into the plans for Exodus and had a look when we might see things go vertical: https://thorpeparkmania.co.uk/news/28-08-2023/When+Might+Project+Exodus+go+Vertical

    In short:
-Vertical construction looks set to start mid-next month
    -Set to finish before Christmas
-Testing to happen from late January
-Potentially ready to open in time for Easter holidays

Probably the only one…. But I’m glad they gave very little away. The guessing only builds the anticipation more. Buzzing after the last couple of days content on exodus

Actually with the right admixtures it will 😏 once the chemical reaction starts, hence how concrete can be poured under water. However generally you are correct, concrete isn’t poured in the rain as the increase in water content affects concrete strength. Not something you want in a coaster of this size!!

Just dawned on me just how many deliveries it’s gonna take to deliver all the track and supports for a coaster of this scale. The steel work involved is massive!

Not ridden this yet, but from the reviews I’ve read or watched I’m impressed with the work that’s gone into this.

Honestly thought it would be undercooked, but everyone seems positive. Can’t wait to give it a go tbh.

given the limitations of the ride system, it sounds as if Merlin have nailed it. Which is 3 attractions nailed this year. Think they’ve definitely raised the bar. Which makes me excited for the future

Had a sticky beef Po' Boy (essentially like a posh-ish kebab/sub) yesterday on the Island Like No Other, with cajun fries - this was from one of the pop up Mardi Gras food stalls which are not Aramark run. £14.50 in total for both, and it was genuinely decent. Pint of Camden Pale was £6.75 but had to be done because sunshine innit.

Similarly, at Fright Nights I bought food on two occasions from the Ghost Train Smokehouse near the teacups, again, external, and was very good indeed.

So basically, just go when there are pop up traders xoxo

Tbf Thorpe could be a lot better if they nicked more of Walibi Holland's ideas, so I'm not against the notion.

100% agree with all of what you’ve said. They definitely finally get it. In the insta world in which we live in, the giant lettering including all the detail is such a great move on the parks behalf. Not only from a marketing perspective, I think it lifts the visuals of the park and really uplifts it.

I really hope they continue this momentum, and having seen the work on jumanji, am really excited by what they might do for the opening of exodus next year. Come on Merlin, keep it going.

On the Aramark subject. Yeah, big mistake, hopefully they can terminate the contract sooner rather than later. As soon as I heard they were involved with Aramark I was concerned, they have a horrendous rep and it’s not only poor quality but overpriced
