They’ve confirmed it won’t have seatbelts so hopefully that’ll stay. Out of interest, does anyone know the reason Icon and Helix both got seatbelts?

Initially guests wanted it at Helix, it got complaints that it felt unsafe.

Then with Icon its because  the restraints had double redundancy in case of failure, the seatbelts give it a third redundancy if something was to go wrong.

Looking at a few others, Copperhead Strike opened with seatbelts (unsurprisingly, Cedar Fair after all) and DC Rivals Hypercoaster didn't, neither do the majority of the Blue Fire clones, Star Trek or Capitol Bullet Train.

Merlin being Merlin, I can just see the guest perception taking precedent with Hyperia. This is the company that wouldn't batch a station at Mandrill and has ugly queue lines where every new ride has fences over 6 foot tall.

Thank god they don’t have those unnecessary seat belts!

And if they’ve structured the station to allow quick dispatches, combined with the shorter ride time hopefully the capacity won’t be the worst thing ever?

Icon and Helix didn't open with seat belts either. I hope against hope that Hyperia doesn't get them at any point..

    Trains look gorgeous. Can't wait.

It's Thorpe and Merlin we're talking about here guys, don't be silly. Of course they're always going to be accurate and reliable about when they're new rides are going to open. Why would you guys assume otherwise not like it's a common trend or anything... Of coure not....

Probably because the majority of Merlin rides do hit their target opening dates. Whether they are ready to go is questionable but actually, they generally have the ride open.

It'll be on regular packages next year. Like with the RAP limitation it will only be for the initial period to let it bed in. Bit of a recent trend for the parks as Nemmie is also fairly limited on Fastrack atm.

    Also holy crap Jack Dann!

I love it when Jack comes back every year or so to complain about Fastrack at Thorpe.

It's like when Steve posts every now and then to tell us how **** Merlin are. It's like a comfort blanket.

Very embarrassing and poor for the park to deliver this level of service for the opening of the park. It seems to get worse every year, with last few leaving lots to be desired also.

Chessington’s reliability issues are certainly even worse than Thorpes and Towers.

The park need to decide whether they prioritise the main season or the winter season. If they want to do both, the engineering team need to be expanded.

They also said a week or so ago that some rides like Rattlesnake and Griffons Galleon will not be open on off-peak days. Poor decision as Rattlesnake seemed to be one of the few  rides that was running well over the weekend.

Merlin theme parks really test my patience at times. The general expectation at a theme park is to go and rides will be running. At Merlin it's currently a gamble if anything is open on time or for at least half the day.

  6. Word on the grape vine is that there's been enough comments about 'vibrations' on one train in particular for them to be taking precautions. The 'vibration' is worse the further back you go.

I personally can't help people are being over sensitive though. Aside from the last corner where the train oddly shuffles, the rest of the ride is graceful, intense and smooth. It seems a bit over the top to me but maybe Towers are just being cautious and doing any work they can now before the Easter holidays.

I haven’t been yet - going next month - but everything I’ve seen looks incredible.

I love a good dispatch sequence and this one looks fab. The whole station interior looks extremely good!! A lot better than the old one with the dreadful audio.

The eye is pretty cool.  Can anyone confirm what it actually does?

I've seen that it closes (Nemesis sleeps) when a train is not going round, ‘looks’ to the right when a train leaves the station to watch it going up the lift, and “shakes” and roars when it goes over the station - but does it also follow the train around the track or do anything else? I’m fascinated with it to be honest - think it’s great what they’ve done with it and it really does set the bar high for future projects

That's pretty much all the eye does. It's given life by the claws around the eye moving up and down like its in anger. There was already some dead pixels so hopefully its an easyish fix.

I was very excited for the return of Nemesis and I'm very happy that it's already running incredibly well, pretty much picking up where the old OG left off. I was concerned it might run slow but it isn't. I think it's a success and the energy around Nemesis was electrifying. Managed 6 rides including a front row and a back row and I'm happy.

That's good to hear! To be honest though, I don't really understand why everyone is worried about the trims at that point of the ride. All they are there to do is slow the train down enough so that the forces are safe, if they are needed at all. I don't get why some people are acting like they are going to slow the train down to almost a complete stop...

I blame Taron for all this anti trim behaviour.

What happens when the retrack Inferno in 9 years and rename it Nemesis Inferno Reborn though?

They'll call it Nemesis Inferno Reborn Vengeance just to really screw with us.
