How Busy Is It Going To Be?

Mark9

Question

Right, so instead of endless topics asking us how busy the park is going to be, instead here is a rough guide to the kind of business the park/s should be expecting this season. It's not set in stone and remember business can be effected by weather, ride reliability, mount of trains/cars on the rollercoasters, amount of staff working on things, fastrack etc etc etc!10am - 5pm Weekday. Likely to be very empty, particularly in term time. Queue time should be minimal (Unless your name is Stealth and you have a stupid system where you can only load 4 in the first, 8 in the second and then you end up rolling back anyway etc etc) 10am-5pm Weekend. Will be emptyish, however likely to be long queues for Saw, Colossus, Stealth and Nemesis Inferno.10am-6pm. Busy but not so bad. Queues for the coasters could reach 45/60 minutes, whilst the rest of the flat rides should be a max of 30 minutes. June and July are when schools start rolling in, so between 11-3 the park will be very busy.9.30am-6pm. Should be busy. Queues for the coasters could reach 60/90 minutes and the rest of the rides queues will be between 20/40 minutes. Fastrack will be in operation.9.30-7pm. Expected to be busy. Queues should be similar to 9.30-6.00 close except the last hour should be quite empty.9.30-8.00 Again should be busy. At least you have a long day to get on quite a few rides. 10.00am-10.00pm Will be busy. Last year wasn't as bad as previously however if it ever hits peak capacity, queues will be up to 2 hours for the rollercoasters and between 45/90 minutes for the flat rides.Remember guys, read this guide to help if you beat the queues without wasting money on Fastrack. Also use the park well. Head to Stealth and Inferno instead of Saw and Colossus. Do rides whilst they look empty instead of following the majority of the crowds.

Its what I was told by staff, after I witnessed someone doing it last week in the morning and I asked a friend of mine who told me thats how it works but never seen anyone with annual pass actually do it herself. Like I said, I'd clarify it with the Fastrack unit before you run onto rides; but it seemed pretty legit... or staff have been misinformed.

I'll check this out when I go on Sunday, it's weird that this isn't published anywhere on there website if this is the case.

You may be alright as most schools are at the end of the year and would have done trips by now. However there will still be a fair few schools going so expect anywhere from 40-90 minute queues between 11:30-4:00 and 4 onwards the queues will get shorter and shorter until about 5 when they will be basically non-existent.

We are experiencing high numbers of school visits on 16-18, 21 & 22 July. Please be aware the Resort will be busier than usual on these dates.

Quote from the scroller on the website. Today was pretty bad between 11 and 4. We got 8 rides done between 9:15 and 10 and then a decent amount after 4/4:30 as the queues seriously drop as kids leave. Just hit the big rides first, do the smaller stuff over peak time then the rest of the big ones towards close. If Tidal is closed all day like it was today then Loggers will be very bust (hit 90 minutes today).

I retract my earlier statement, I was unaware it was school week. It will be the worst day you ever have at the park. Expect 80-100 minute queues between 11 and 4.

I said it in my post ffs!!!! ;). Next week is quieter, 2 weeks time it'll be dead and well worth visiting.

September is rather midweek from about the 2nd week onwards, however they also go down to 1 train at thorpe cos they believe in having queues, so it may be best visiting first week of Sept.

Thanks guys! Was very busy as you said.. Queue times around 90 minutes but very good staff today, queued no longer than 50 minutes for any ride despite queues being packed and some leading out of the entrances!

Most ride staff were doing conpetitions to beat records of how many people they can get through in specific amounts of time! :)

Didn't get loads of rides in but am happy to have got the best rollercoasters done! :)

Ride count..

Swarm Backwards x1

Nemesis Inferno x1

Bumper cars x1

Slammer x1

Stealth x1

X x1

Teacups x1

Rapids x1

Colossus x1

It will be one of the busiest days on the season, Thorpe Park have posted on there website that they're expecting a high number of schools.

I recommend getting there at 9:15 if you have AP or 9:30 if you have a normal ticket as you will get a lot of rides done before the schools come at 11. Also the park should start to die down at about 4:30ish.

Have fun :)

What do you think queues will be like next Monday?

The safest bet is to go a couple of days after all schools are broken up. This way most people have gone abroad straight away for their holidays. I visited a couple of days after everyone was broken up last year and no queue peaked over 60mins. I don't know if it was just a lucky day or what but it was the emptiest time of the summer, considering I visited at sunscream where queues were up to 2 and a half hours.

I'm no expert on queue times, but from my experience I think the safest bet is to wait a few days until everyone is off school and abroad...
