They're not liked much as you're basically standing between two bars that go above your height (if you're my height) whilst your head is shaking but if your fine with Saw then you probably could cope with it. Though the top and bottom ones are easy to establish, no question... Only Tatsu and below are the ones I really don't enjoy... Griffon is bigger than Oblivion in every way so I don't see how it can be less expensive. Is it that roller coasters in the US are cheaper than roller coasters in the UK? Oblivion was brand new technology and a prototype when built and no other dive machines had been constructed at the time. When Griffon opened, at least several other dive coasters had opened, not to mention it was no longer brand spanking new technology either. Another thing to mention is the big hole they dug for oblivion wouldn't have been cheap either, especially since much of the drop is actually beneath ground anyway. Griffon was technically brand new technology, as it was the first floorless dive coaster (which would result in SheiKra's revamp in 2007). Also, even back then, the investment costs of rides at Towers will include everything, from construction to advertising. What needs to be remembered about Merlin is that when they advertise their (major) attractions, they will try and make it sound as expensive as possible. So, they always quote the cost of the 'investment' of a ride, not what the ride cost. So, in Swarm's case, the cost will include the infilling of the land, the advertising (including all the actors they had on park in 2011), theming, train design etc, etc, as well as the ride hardware. Fury 325's quoted price will likely just be for the ride hardware and construction (and even if it's not, there's minimal theming and the like anyways). Merlin have a good working relation with B&M, which probably stretches back all the way to when they worked with Towers in the 90s. After all, Merlin were the first to get the wingrider, the first to get backward rows, etc. They do work closely with the company, and there's sometimes talks that they get "deals" from B&M by essentially bulk-buying products - after all, Merlin have installed 5 B&Ms in the past 5 years! Also, the cost of Swarm is sometimes quoted as £18 million, not £20 million. Given that Fury 325 cost about £19.9 million, it's not exactly like Swarm has cost *that* much in total than Fury 325 in any case. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
