Just to see if anyone would like to talk about the supposedly boring Politics subject, but seeing as it's pretty on topic due to recent problems in the credit markets.. Anyone?I personally support the Conservatives, however I think they need to take a leaf out of the Monster Raving Loony Party's book, click here for more info!Lovely policies including pianting the white cliffs of Dover blue, 99p coins brought into circulation, air conditioners on the outside of buildings to combat global warming, and a law stating socks are to be sold in threes to ensure you still have a good pear if you lose one.Anyone have any serious political thoughts? I know I probably sound dry but might bring this board more 'high brow' :)

I am currently undecided on my political stance.I take Politics a-level and the more in depth I look into it all ,the more I feel none of the political parties represent me entirely . I also find it funny how the 3 main parties are all trying to obtain the "middle england" voters by bending their original ideology .

Get you , Mr Articulate! That is just my point , the parties seem to bend their ideology completely just to be in power. Surely they should stick to what they believe and what works. If something changes context I understand but if it is purely to gain power then it isn't really fair.Maybe we should have a poll of the parties? I wonder how many of us are "politically active" ?<_<

American Elections today! So will be very interesting to find out the results tomoz!I personally am hoping Obama will win, but am not entirely convinced he will. Polls show him to be in the lead position but polls can be wrong and still his colour could affect the results. With the death of his grandma last night he could be getting the sympathy vote from some.

I agree with you Iskander. His grandmother dying will lead to some sympathy votes.Personally, I think Obama is the best out of a bad bunch. Niether candidate is the best for being presedient. However, I think that John McCain will win it marginally. Anyone ever heard of 'The Bradley Effect', which is quite likely to happen.Made me laugh at school today when someone said that McCain chip sales will go through the roof if McCain wins this.

Okay, considering the last debate is tonight, it is a little late. But ah well. Feel free to discuss debates or anything political here. :D As much as you want to have a laugh, let's try and keep this serious, so no mick take photos - stick them somewhere else - and no MRLP rules (yes, we know all it is true, but to try and keep it serious...) Well, I'll start off by saying about this whole Brown calling someone a bigot storm. The media, as per usual, are blowing this out of proportion. He was in his personal car and he has a right to an opinion of people. How many people can say they haven't called someone something behind their backs and never intended them to know? I'm pretty sure the other candidates have been in similar situations. Moreover, I'm sick of people criticising Brown. Funnily enough, he's doing a pretty tough job and he is trying his best. Considering the economic situation, he has done relatively well. Okay, he's not some sort of God who has done things perfectly, but cut him some slack..Enjoy. :D

^^ As true as that is about calling someone something behind there backs, he's the Prime Minister, and is supposed to lead and represent our country. For him to go straight in his car, call someone a bigot, talk of the disaster that the interview was and then blame who's idea it was is not exactly great is it?... It seems he can't do anything right, he wasn't exactly popular before that.

He did look like he was about to cry! XDThe thing is James, he's only human! He was angered by what had happened; anyone would be. Considering what had happened, he seemed to keep his cool much more than others would have. At least he didn't call her a bigot to her face..

Woah, Cameron was quite harsh to Clegg there. As Clegg has stated in his manifesto, they'd only put in a referendum if it was for the best.He really is getting desparate..

The one good thing about the Tories is they sound like they really want to get people who are off work and sponging of the government back into work, and helping them do so.Apart from that wouldnt trust them as far as I can throw them, the economic recovery is important, I think ill be voting Labour!

They all sounded like they want people off benefits into work tbh. Brown was on about all young people being offered training etc. And Clegg made a point about people being put off returning to work because initially they will be worse off for money, as things like housing benefit will suddenly stop as well. So they're only doing part-time because they don't see the benefit financially of working full-time.But whether they'll stick to what they say or not...

This is what I think about immigration and unemployment. I think that when it comes to jobs, that people who were born in this country should be made a priority. I feel there are just too many people coming into this country with around 600,000 illegal immigrants. With Australia, you can only come into that country if you have skills which they urgently need. We shouldn't allow people to emmigrate into this country unless they have a skill that we are lacking in and are useful. And any skills that they are lacking in, the government should invest money into training people into using those important skills. This is because there are so many people who are unemployed and they are people who were born in this country and can actually contribute to society and the moving forwards that we need.I hate the fact, that people are spongeing off us taxpayers and they think they are doing nothing morally wrong by wanting more and more money. If you are working and want to move forward in life, want to realise your full potential and work hard, then there's no reason why they shouldn't get benefits. I think that people should only get benefits if they work or are in some special cases, are taking care of someone who is ill and they are a taking care of children. Q)How can Davey Cameron, Gordy Brown and Nicky Clegg expect to run this country if they can't even control their own parties and make sure their party members aren't claiming money, that has been spent on porn?I mean, if the material was for the party member and they purchased it, because they were stressed; they thought it would help them relieve their stress and then help them to get back to work...maybe that would a suitable reason. Otherwise get it off the internet like the rest of us. :D

Apart from all the Suits he wears, is that the only casual clothes he has? :) I too own a boat and eat fish and chips. As for the children and the comic, maybe not.My boat is something I am very proud of.Posted Image

Posted ImageYes thats right, apparently Cameron reads the Sun.

Well, they're not biased towards him for nothing, are they? :)

Posted ImageHe wants to kill your children.

If proof was needed that Cameron is evil, this is it. As much as I don't want a hung parliament, I don't want Cameron in charge. A Conservative government would be terrible for us. Labour are doing a good job - granted, not the best they could do, but that's beside the point; they're doing well - and they'd be a much better choice.
