Matthew Posted October 27, 2008 Report Share Posted October 27, 2008 After visiting today, I thought that a topic about this impressive park wouldn't go a miss!This park is mainly Simulators and walk through attractions - but still a park not to be missed!I'll spark some rides to talk about...The Mummy Returns - Amazing ride! You're on these crate kind of trains which embark on a journey into the depths of the tomb, where Imhotep wants to capture your souls to gain imortality.The special effects in here are extremely extensive and Universal have really gone the 'extra mile' to make this a ride and a half! You have several transfer tracks within where you will go backwards. There's also turntables and a launch hill! I'm trying not to spoil this ride for first time riders. But it has a few suprises within too!DISASTER - This ride used to be the Earthquake ride where you go on the subway train and everything seems to go wrong in the earthquake. But since last time I visited (2001) it has become Disaster Movie Studios, where you are all filmed and a whole movie trailer is based on your group (of about 50) but it manages to fit you all in. This really was my favourite ride here, and everyone should go on it.Oh yes, the food outlets here are great! They have the Meal Deal here too - where you can eat all day! The only gonner is the huge water finale, instead it's got another train which crashes into you.Really 'Disaster' is worth it. I love the way it sometimes goes backwards and oops better stop there. Dont want to spoil it for anyone!What they've changed Earthquake!!! But why did they need to, it was great as it was. 5 times ive been to Orlando and its always been Earthquake!Does anyone else remember Kongfrontation which is where Revenge of the Mummy is now in Universal Orlando, that was a great ride and its a shame it kept breakng down and was eventually replaced.Universal Studios will never be the same with Back to the Future either. I am a huge fan of the Back to the Future ride but think they have done well replacing it with the Simpsons ride.I absolutely loved Revenge of the Mummy. The effects were amazing!!! Chantelle ^.^ Posted June 14, 2009 Report Share Posted June 14, 2009 Universal Studios is one of my fav theme parks at Orlando Florida =]I had a funny experience with the Revenage of the Mummy Ride.The first Time I went on that ride was in 2004, I got sooo scared that I wanted to get off x.xBut since I'm older now I think I'll enjoy it this time xDAnd plus I heard that they replaced Back to the Future with The Simpsons Ride, I love The Simpsons and all, but they shouldn't of replaced it =/ and for the Earthquake ride I think all they did was revamped it Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Universal just have the money to plunge onto these unfortunately... And I can't see any of our parks having one of these really... Unless Towers removed Charlie with this... pluk Posted April 20, 2012 Report Share Posted April 20, 2012 As I said elsewhere, a sign very much like that should have been up in those awful first couple of weeks when it was clear it was not working properly. There's a lot of people who experienced the failure it originally was and think that is what it was supposed to be and they don't read this stuff to put them straight. People who now think a lot less of Towers and are likely telling their mates not to bother. As for getting one in the UK it is not so much the ride hardware that I think would be the problem, but letting our guys loose with the effects and actual execution would likely end in disaster, that's why I think a clone would be just fine. As for the cost, clearly it's a massive investment but now Universal have basically done the R+D at their own expense I'm sure it is realistic. Hopefully this means opening on the 7th April will be smooth and faultless. Some differences to the others: A Mack Youngstar for the Flight Of The Hippogriff 3D 4K FJ with more dementors (reviews of the 3D aren't great though due to the darkness of the physical scenes so Florida will probably just see a 4K upgrade now) Their is a large external queue prior to the lockers for FJ, to presumably hold people back in to ease the bottleneck that room involves in Florida. Oh, but EVERYONE has to queue through the outside bit, even single riders with no bags. It also has fastpass on it. You can have your photo taken in the HE... for $25 Olivanders has two show rooms and a larger shop, and some other shops have moved about. Other than that, it's pretty similar. Similarly busy. Photo op Broomsticks New cred for Hollywood. Still looks lovely at night. 6 years since the Orlando version, that's how long Potter has been storming the parks. In other rumours, Diagon Alley will break ground very soon apparently to compete with Star Wars Land opening in Disneyland. It is also meant to include the HE, don't ask how as DA will be on lower lot and Hogwarts is on upper. OldFarmerDean Posted March 15, 2016 Report Share Posted March 15, 2016 Well as I haven't been to Florida in such a long time I've missed the harry potter land, so am really glad California has one ready for when I go in the summer not so sure about the walking dead maze now opening summer (I swear I heard late 2016 a while ago), might give that a miss, my body would sure appreciate if I didn't go in it....
