I won't be happy if we're left with Space Mountain - Mission 3!

Rumours and debates suggest we will actually see the return of the original theme of the ride which existed until the ride was updated in 2005 instead of another sequel retheme.

From what I'm aware it involved the sun/moon storyline, however I'm not really sure as I haven't done the ride in either form (or visited the park as a whole).

Original storyline was basically a journey to the moon, the lift hill in the middle of the ride had a moon face projected up instead of the supernova, really the difference was the music (classic instead of base) and the odd bit of theming here and there (the change was never THAT major)...

Would love it to return to the original version (mainly with the viewing windows in the queueline) with some of the newer additions Mission 2 brought in (laser tunnel finale)...

Not to be rude about disneyland paris but surely PortAventura is the biggest tourist destination in europe? It is not in debt and seems to be doing very well and has good visitor numbers. Saying that though everyone loves disney dont they

I don't think its even close. PortAventura's regular attendance is around a third of what DLP gets through the door on a yearly basis. Whil;st there is debt, it has one of the biggest companies in the world propping it up. They need to sort a lot out however there is so much potential for DLP to improve.

Having been this past weekend I've obviously managed to get on Ratatouille...

I plan on doing a fuller review soon, but I'll give some initial thoughts to it here...

I was of course, doubtful about the ride after watching a POV like many people, but to put it simply, a POV of it does zero justice to the immersion the ride provides... It's truly astonishing the scale of both the theming AND the screens provide... When you then consider DLP got Pixar to create unique animation, get the same voice-actors AND get the composer to rescore for the ride and area, it's no wonder it cost so much...

The ride is good fun too, with a good mix of screen and physical theming around the ride, and of course, the delightful details Disney always provide into their rides...

It's a fantastic addition to the Studios, and will hopefully be another step into turning the park into less of a forgotten mess of crap (especially once the Tram Tour gets spited)...

Mini trip report from my days there this week. Odd week in which Monday and Tuesday were packed, Wednesday and Thursday less so. Big Thunder, Buzz Lightyear and the Teacups were closed for refurbishment and on Thursday, Space Mountain was closed all day. So at least I know I can survive a day without DLP's biggest roller coasters.

Our longest wait was Ratatouille on Tuesday, we queued two hours (40 minutes of that was a breakdown) and on Thursday it was having massive technical problems. They were also only using half the rides capacity so when it reopened, the fastpass queue was out of the entrance and only one of the three cars was being given to the main queue meaning what should have been a 15 minute queue was 75 minutes. The ride itself is pure class and for all the criticism of it being lots of screens, well go ride it and see for yourself because it's definitely more then the sum of its parts. My partner says its his 3rd favourite ride ever. Enough said.

Wednesday was insanely quiet. We managed to get on all open rides in the resort and even Crush's coaster only had a 5 minute queue. Walk on Space Mountain, easy, Peter Pan, 10 minute queue. Winter dreams is a travesty. Focusing so much on Frozen is a detriment to the whole display. The Toy Story segment goes down like a lead balloon. The only part really enjoyed is when 'Let it go' plays. I'd rather they just kept playing normal Dreams, now thats a quality firework display.

Some pics.

Around Paris or even near the park itself are there any nice places? Considering catacombs ;) As long as easily accessible (poor lack of knowledge of the French language, je suis poisson.) Would be nice to hear from people where decent places are. danke

edit: Ryan just bullied me for not being more specific :) 'Nice places' 'around Paris' aka central Paris OR locations near accessible to Disneyland. I'm thinking less of the obvious places (Louvre,  Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe) and more fun, interactive places. Unless of course the Louvre is fun fun I can touch Mona Lisa's face. :)

Central Paris itself is a 30-40 minute RER journey away from Marnee la Vallee (I.e. the DLP train station), and costs around €7.50 one way...

Then you just get the Metro to EVERYWHERE...

Don't think DLP itself is near anything else good tbh, apart from Val d'Europe shopping centre, which also has a Sea-Life...
