Queue Jumpers!

Louise(:

Question

Okay, the reason why I am asking this is because I had a sketchy experience regarding queue jumpers at the queue in saw the ride at Thorpe park.... So I got really annoyed at these people who where pushing past saying that their 'friends were just over there'. I confronted them telling them they couldnt go past because you werent allowed to do such thing and that she was with her friends and they werent ahead. So she pushed ahead and waited until their was a fence between us until she threatened me that if I didn't shut up she would slap me and 'do me in'.. So I called a member of staff and by then I couldnt spot her in the queue. Then I spotted her at the end of the ride waiting for ME to come off the ride, she was with her friends pointing at me and waiting. I then confronted the staff and THEY WERE ESCORTED OFF THE PREMESIS. I seriously feared for myself. It was a shakey experience...I just wanted to ask anyone if they had a similar experience to me regarding queue jumpers? Was I over reacting?

Always find it amusing how groups of people seem incapable of waiting for each other, but there seems to be this mind-set that queue-jumping is actually acceptable... The amount of people at the Eye for example who try to enter the queue without the person who's currently buying their tickets...I've seen some comical queue-jumping attempts when people have jumped into the middle of a massive group and been at the receiving end of loud yells from people... But it'll always be about... Especially at Thorpe due to the main audience there... Same for Towers in some cases...

ah, I'm glad it weren't wrong, thanks! :) It just seriously gets at me! People who are like 'err my family are over there in front of you' and they are blatantly not there! and they carry on walking! They just lie cos they are traveller's who cant afford fastracks so they queue jump instead of waiting like nice, normal people do! ;) (not saying everyone who cant afford fastracks is a traveller).

A black guy nearly pushed my mum over when she confronted him in the Stealth Queue. My mum is'nt that young either. Him and his group were quickly ejected from the park by park security.

What a bunch of ****s actually...Remember a Fright Night in 2008 I just got so pissed off with how crap the Colossus queue was being I just snapped at some people trying to get jump past me... Urgh...

I'm always amazed by the amount of people who try it - and the amount of people who let them get away with it. When I'm in the queue NO ONE gets passed. Those who try are told politely to do one. I've never had anyone try and start on me about it but I guess it's just a matter of time. Glad to hear staff did kick them out, I've never seen them do it even though it is threatened everywhere so nice to know they will act on their warning.

Or go through Runaway trains fire exit, turn right and go all the way up through the queueline, over the bridge and out the entrance. That was always good comedy value as an operator.

Did people in those days also have a tendency to walk up the staff entrance (to the left of Fastrack), walk up the stairs and into the control box?People have this massive tendency to do this nowadays..

I never let people past me either. It's quite funny how sheepish and embarrassed they get if you just say no - you can just feel their minds working and thinking to themselves "Crap, how to get out of this..." Often get a few pats on the back from other people in the queue who just let them past, it's a shame people are so scared to stop them.Worst I've had was at Towers, a group did it right in front of 2 hosts and they did nothing.

Oh all the time. And the worst part is I used to have the door closed a lot at Runaway, so why they thought a queueline would go through a closed door is beyond me. Then again once guests thought Fury's lift hill stairs were the exit from the ride platform.

Still happens.Or Toadies, where people exit clearly onto the track or to the left of the ride exit platform.

That awkward moment when you realise someone is actually that stupid...Wonder how some people manage to exit their house in the morning or even get to the parks... Or do the turnstiles have some IQ sapping device that affects people?

I know, it is ridiculous how SOME guests act once they have entered a Theme Park, their brains just seem to go into neutral.I had read it the past that this was very true of those who attend parks in the UK but it is different abroad. However a quick Google search of the phrase "theme park guests leave their brains at the gate" seems to prove otherwise with reports coming in from all over the globe. I don't know what it is about a theme park that seems to trigger this kind of response:Is it down to the feeling of total escapism "This place is like being in a dream, so I am going to treat it like one."?Or is it that they are so used to being told what to do at a park: which way to enter this, how to strap yourself into that etc that they end up in this almost zombie like state?Sorry if this post is going a bit off topic but we were at Weymouth Sealife centre yesterday and the ignorance and naivety of some of the guests was appalling, maybe this is now becoming a problem for visitor attractions as a whole!

It's just the excitement thing really, they forget about the reality of things. Like when they climb over fences to retrieve their hats, forgetting a several tonne B&M train is coming round the corner to decapitate you.

Haha, I went to Six Flag Over Georgia a few weeks after that incident.I was towards the front of the Storm Surge queue recently when the staff shouted on the load speaker, 'the boy in the blue shirt you just queue jumped please make your way to the back of the queue, YOU HAVE BEEN SPOTTED'. The staff member make 3 seperate announcements before the guy in the blue shirt got the picture. Though, the SS queue layout is very easy to cheat unfortunately, but I'm very glad the blue shirt guy got humiliated like that.
