  1. Not really film related but, on simpsons last night

homer was kidnapped and chained to a pipe in a small room, and there was a voice that sounded very rattly and low. He had to lick through a hot sauce lollypop to get a key to free himself

But the key was even hotter sauce, the games have just begun
  2. I haven't seen the actors but I think the best thing to do really is just to join the queue line with a completely open mind. Then you won't be disappointed, annoyed or anything else, just able to make your own decision on what the experience was like and how it did or didn't add to the atmosphere.

like me-I havnt seen the Saw films but was expecting scares when I heard the release of the SAW theming.I went on the AP day and I thought it was not that good even the ride(at the back).but then later on there were actors,in the que line and out an it was slightly better but there are rooms for improvements-dont expect much or you will think its not that good.

The actors in the plaza, stilt walkers / angel grinders, etc., are good, different yet have nothing to do with SAW. However, not much you can do there really. On AP day, there were two actors. One was in Jigsaw's 'favourite' trap, The Rack, which is similar to a crucifix. The other was masked and 'torturing' them. They also came and rattled the fences with some sort of stick. Every so often (between 5 - 10 minutes I think), the person being tortured will pretend to die, the masked person will carry them under the stairs and they will switch roles. In the summer and at FN, there will be more actors, oustide. I've been told they will climb the fences with 'barbed wire' at the top, could possibly be in some outdoor traps and will be doing various other things. There may also be a very different twist in store for unsuspecting guests...

Thanks for that! I will get down to Thorpe soon to see the ride but I will have to get there when the actors are there as wellThanks! ;)
  3. So have you been on it? Have you heard of it? What do you think of it? Picture of the tower - http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...e_las_vegas.jpghttp://4.bp.blogspot.com/_-xDUX0H9ZEs/SHOC...lose-view-4.jpgBeing at a hight of 100 floors on the roof of an observation tower with rides that shoot you up and down, over the side and spin you round and shout you over the sideThere was a rollercoaster but it got removed. Don't know why?Videos of all 3 rides-Insanity -

I have been on 3 times (biggest thrill IMO)Big Shot -
I have been on 2 timesX Scream -
I have been on 3 timesPersonally I have been on it in 2007 and 2008 here are some pics of me being on it - http://www.flickr.com/photos/hdunlopclark/2668604830/http://www.flickr.com/photos/hdunlopclark/...in/photostream/
  4. What about the latest innovation from our good old friends who bought us Zodiac - Huss?HUSS KING KONGThe gondola is designed for up to 24 passengers with a maximum height of 12,5 m (41 ft.) and a footprint of 10 m x 11,5 m (33 ft. x 38 ft.). The ride is actuated by a hydraulic system. The passengers will enter the gondola on the floor and then the KING KONG will start to prop up and lift the gondola at the same time. When the figure stands upright he will start to shake the gondola slowly. After a while the gondola will be directly in front of the head of our KING KONG and our special effects starts with sound, mist and shining eyes.If you ask me, it seems a logical option, (even though I hate the idea of this ride) because it comes readily themed for Calypso Quay, has a relatively small footprint, and is suitable for younger thrill seekers.Advantages:Small footprintSomething for the younger visitorsUnique'Heavily' Themed, ready for Calypso QuayLooks the partDisadvantages:Tragically low throughput - just 480 pph

Looks pretty cool. It would add something that Thorpe Park needs!
  5. The car area has always been taped off. At first, there was just chains. It was then replaced by the Police tape for a better effect. Sometime though, they have had to use it for make shift queue line. There will be no more actors now, the TP website stated they would be there throughout the Easter Weekend and that is it. They will return in the summer on soem sort of selected days.

I have not been on SAW yet so I have a question. Do the actors add to the atmosphere or do they just get annoying? I know 3 people who have been there this weekend and 2 of them think the actors were great but the other said they were just annoying. Thanks
  6. I love rush so much IMO it is easily the best flat ride in the park! I went for two days to thorpe not to long ago last year and the park was empty and I had 11 rides over 2 days and not one of them rides got boring! I love it!

  7. I just find Colossus to be a ride that if the queue is short I will ride it but if it has a long queue I won't queue it because I am at that hight I have a headache when I come off it. I love the ride and loops though just not the head banging!

  8. Haha well I'm sure like me, most of you have been on Stealth many times.. I like the ride very much. But boredom has set in already.. And as the thrill quickly fades of the 0-80 speed and the height. You realise that's its a pretty boring ride, and wont que longer then 30/20min for it. There could of been sooo much potential had they of taken aspects of KDK.. Though I do ponder on the thought of.. :( .. adding track to the existing coaster? Extending the ride etc..

Would be cool but will it happen ;)
  9. Whoa! You nearly gave me a heart attack, lol! We have had this trip planned for so long, so I hope all the rides are open!

Well I hope you have a great time (busy) but great time! I hope everything is running for you!
  10. Ok... well I am knew to the meet-up thing but I might be going on the 17th of May but my friend just texted me saying he can't come. Anyway I was wondering if anyone else is going on the 17th and if you could be kind enough to let me tag along with you. I'm not to keen on the idea of being on my own at Thorpe. If you don't mind me coming but not going on that exact date I might be able to come so just say the date and I will let you know. I would love to meat some of you people to see the face behind the username :( Thanks

  11. For the ride to lower it has to be in the 'zero' position which is basically the only spot where it can be raised and lowered, zeroing is when it finds the zero position to enable it to lower. You may have sometimes seen the ride swinging backwards and forwards a little bit before lowering, thats the ride trying to find zero. The reason you're not allowed to swing the pods during loading is because it can knock the ride out of the zero position and has to be reset because it will refuse to raise.

    Oh ok thanks! :(
  12. Samurai's settings are easily changable by the operator, although sometimes some of them can cause trouble with the ride 'zeroing', so are not used. Others are longer, or shorter, depending on the queue size (although, some operators totally ignore that to offer their favorite setting). I'm unaware if the settings have been re-programmed this season, the ride is totally hit or miss. Ask the operator nicely if you want a setting changed and I'm sure they will help you out, but don't blame them if you don't have a good ride!

    What's zeroing?
  13. You think Stealth is the most overrated? IMO Saw beats it to that positon by miles! In regards to striking a balance, a 205ft top hat is an element that not many people will get the opportunity to experience unless they go to the USA so I think they've achieved the interesting layout enough for average guests without the overbanked turns. Most average guests will just look at the top hat and think 'wow!' and thats plainly obvious by the huge screams on the TP Express when arriving and everyone sees Stealth. The overbanked turns would have made it better but then we would have just been slating it for being exactly the same as Xcelerator and half the guests would probably just think "those turn things are bare boring init bruv they dont do no loops or nuffin". If ya get my point. It may reek of lazy ride planning to you and a lot of other people on here but to the general public they achieved the iconic coaster and breathtaking experience they set out to give people, which is all the matters right?

I have to agree with you. SAW (I have not been on yet) but from what I can see, it is the most overated ride in the UK BY FAR. Stealth is a ride that people say wow at and run to ride first. Everyone that I know still gets a thrill when they ride Stealth. It may be a bit lacking but, I am still getting over the adrenalin from the launch when I get to the bottom of the hill.
  14. Well it must have been, there was a good turn out for the 5 shows in the arena, from what I could see. Tbh it does sound as if last year was better with the BMX's near Stealth, or maybe its just cause the weather was rainy yeserday. Anyway thorpe always say somethings back due to popular demand :( A way of attracting people.

That is a great idea for Thorpe! Due to popular demand SAW, Stealth and Rush are currently unavailable ;)
