  1. Hiii guys, Ryan and I have decided to do you forum lot a solid and chalk up the provisional meet calendar for the 2017 season with all of the provisional dates where possible. As you may see it is incredibly busy with a few new and different things, so please do leave a comment or drop a PM to either of us with what you think! **please note this is a rough, preliminary outline of what we'd expect 2017 to look like, dates and even venues may well change!** January: Guildford meet (Saturday 21st) February: Adventure Island meet (Saturday 11th) March: Thorpe Park open meet (Saturday 25th) April: Chessington meet (Saturday 22nd) May: Legoland meet (Saturday 20th) June: Alton Towers weekender (Saturday 17th/Sunday 18th) July: Ministry of Sound meet (Saturday 22nd) August: Oakwood weekender (Saturday 19th/Sunday 20th) September: Port Aventura (Saturday 9th/Sunday 10th) October: Fright Nights meet (Sunday 15th) November: Alton Towers Fireworks weekender (TBC/'whenever that is') December: London Christmas meet (Saturday 16th) I hope everyone has a happy new year, and I can't wait to see both old and new faces next year
  2. Helloo my dears, It is with some degree of delight that I am here to FINALLY present you with the details of the official Alton Towers meet 2017! The current plan is to visit Alton Towers on both days, however I have heard whispers that some may like to visit Drayton Manor once again too, however they are expected to get a big thing in 2018 so it could be worth the wait! As ever though, that's for you forum lot to decide! Due to it being a weekend trip, the date for this weekend is remaining fixed at Saturday 17th June and Sunday 18th June. The plans for this weekend shall be as follows: *SATURDAY* (Alton Towers) 09:30 meet underneath the corkscrew sculpture thing whatever you may call it, the park is due to open at 10am according to the website so this is the time we'll be aiming to get into the park for 10:00-13:00/13:30 we shall be simply going about riding what others wish to ride until we get a bit peckish, at which point we'll split off for lunch, which should last for about an hour 14:00/14:30-17:00/18:00 we'll get back to those rides until park close, some may wish to do the waterpark as has been the case for the past few years, this is stated to be open until 6pm, so please mention in the poll if this tickles your fancy, as then we can get a group of sorts to head off a bit earlier to fit some swimming in, us non-swimmers can find ourselves partaking in a game of mini golf or can hang about the hotel bar area.... I'll definitely be playing golf because I have a mild obsession for it all thanks to a few of the members on this very forum 18:00 onwards we'll probably go off for a bite to eat, this will be an UNOFFICIAL part of the meet and will most likely consist of those who are staying the night before we head back to wherever we'll be staying *SUNDAY* (probably Alton Towers again) Should you all vote for us to have two days of Alton Towers, the structure of the Sunday will look very similar to the structure of the Saturday bar the swimming, golf and meal in the evening as people will most likely want to head straight home after park close. If, however, you all decide you'd like us to visit DRAYTON MANOR instead, this is what that day might look like... disclaimer: I've never been to Drayton before so it's a very rough estimate ok 10:00 meet by the park entrance, the park is said to open at this time however rides don't open until 10:30 so we'll have plenty of time! 10:30-13:00/13:30 it'll be time to get on all the rides that people may choose to ride until yet again we all get peckish and we'll go off for lunch for an ho- you know what I'm going to say I'll stop boring you 14:00/14:30-17:00 we'll get back to those rides after lunch and continue going until park close/everyone gets tired and decides its time to go home. It'll be then time for us all to part ways and head home, it's more than likely people will be simply grabbing a bite to eat at a service station on the way home so there again shall be no organised meal on the sunday a few little notes for the meet... -if you are late, we will NOT wait! Even we've been left behind before, it simply isn't fair on those who make the effort to be there on time, if you're running a bit late or are Marc then we will meet you when you arrive, whether it'll be you finding the group as we stand in a specific place for you or someone running off to fetch you... you will find us eventually, we promise! ** the polls on this topic for where we'll be headed will close in one week, at 10pm on Thursday, 20th April 2017** please read ahead if you are interested in staying over night, be it on either the Friday night, Saturday night, or both (STRICTLY OVER 18s ONLY, we CANNOT take responsibility for any under 18s overnight, but you are more than welcome to join us for the day parts!!) **from this point, you will have EXACTLY ONE MONTH to confirm your attendance to either myself or @Ryan, so you must have given us a definite yes or no by 9pm on SATURDAY, 13TH MAY 2017, otherwise you will NOT be included in the numbers as we try to work out the pricing for the hotel, location is TBC as we will be trying to find the best deal, but you will know after this date (it's always been the Newcastle-Under-Lyme Travelodge and this likely won't change, but it's worth a look ) **we will then price up the rooms and let you all know how much you will be owing if you wish to stay with us on SUNDAY, 14TH MAY 2017, you will then have ONE WEEK to transfer the amount to tpm's paypal, so the payment from you must have been received by us by 9pm on SUNDAY, 21ST MAY 2017, allowing us to make the booking ASAP as neither Ryan nor myself will be able to foot the bill unfortunately **if you don't get back to us in time, you'll have to book your own room, likewise if you have any specific preferences for who you may like to share with, or if you'd even have another hotel in mind! Once the booking has all gone through we'll let you know, there will be a dedicated group chat to keep you all in the loop as I know this is a lot of information to process. If you have any questions or queries do not hesitate to ask. Sadly I may not be able to get back to you ASAP as exam season is well and truly here so I'll only be about to update meet topics, but I'll try my best! The Towers meet is always a good one, and this will be no different who's coming?? BaronC. 3. I'm sure you all saw this coming... It is with some degree of pleasure that I invite you, the lovely people of TPM, to come on over to my home county for the official 2017 Adventure Island meet! It's coming up to two years since the last one which was a lovely time, and I am sure this time will be no different. This will be taking place on Sunday, 12th February, as voted by you forum lot! Should you decide you're up for this, here's what the day could look like: -meet by the Rage lift hill between 10 and 10:30, in this time people can be buying/collecting their wristbands from the nearby ticket office -from 10:30 onwards, we will be going around riding what people wish to ride -at some point around 1-1:30/whenever people are peckish people can go off for a bite to eat for an hour before getting back to those rides (maybe not Time Machine just after lunch though) -after park close, we shall head off for our evening meal/social, which will be at Maya's World Buffet -once everyone has all fed on some (hopefully) yummy food, a few people may wish to visit Creams for some dessert, I know I most certainly will! As you may have noticed, I haven't outlined any other specific meet points during the day for any latecomers. This is simply because Adventure Island is a relatively small park so it would be fairly easy for people to pop along rather than taking the entire group to specific points for specific times, but remember if you are late you will be left behind- especially you, Peaj! So place your votes, have your say, and if you have any questions, comments, ideas or suggestions please let me know; and mention it here or in a PM to me if you're looking to attend Here's some potentially useful links Adventure Island: http://adventureisland.co.uk/ Maya's World Buffet Southend: http://mayasrestaurant.co.uk/menus/world-buffut-menu/ Creams Southend: http://creamscafe.com/menu.php ***** Who's Coming?? 4. Good Morning all of you wonderful people! It's got to that time of year again and I'm very excited to officially announce plans for our traditional end of year meet in LONDON! The event will be held on Saturday 17th December - I know there was no vote, but it always gets voted for the last weekend before Xmas, so predicted your responses. However a small poll is open just to ensure it doesn't disagree with too many people! As a few people are aware, my career has taken off a fair bit recently and can no longer dedicate 100% to running these meets, so this will be the last one I am properly running - A separate topic about the new meet organiser Can be found here. I'll still be around when I can but I'll be more in the background The Outline of the day will be as follows: Meet under the Waterloo Clock between 09:30 and 10:00 am. If by any chance you happen to miss this meet point due to travel arrangements or just plain lateness you can either a) phone or text so we can arrange to meet you or meet up at the second meeting point later in the day. This first part of the day we will make the most of all the Merlin attractions based in the area by going to London Dungeons, Sealife, London Eye and for those that can get in the New Shrek Adventures. Please bear in mind we will leave without you if you are late as it’s not fair on time keepers! A couple of members have found out this on previous meets. We will stop for a bite to eat around Lunch, which could be Nando's but we will see what people think nearer the time. At lunch we will once again partake inSecret Santa as it was highly popular last year and caused much amusement. After the Waterloo attractions we will head off to Baker Street if we have time to see the wonderful Madame Tussauds or those who wish to break off for a little bit for a pint in the pub before heading back to Hyde Park at the end of the day to go Winter Wonderland. (The date was chosen so we can get actual christmas music ). I'd imagine we will have another eaten snack in the day and will be finishing it off with some drinks down the pub and/ or possibly a curry! . I will be handing out my phone number for everyone who is attending the meet that day, should there be any problems. We aim to stay together as a group for the day, going from one activity to the next, enjoying getting to know people you share very similar interests with, the idea is to just go with the flow and enjoy the day with some awesome people. There will be many photo’s in the day being taken I’m sure and the possibility of a few video clips. Whilst we cannot force you to stay with the group, it is the general purpose of these meets! You will have my number (and some of the senior teams) if you become split so by all means use it. The meets are a fantastic laugh and everyone is invited, even if you’ve never posted before or been to any kind of meet at all. If it's your first meet, I understand it can be nerve breaking - but we were all there at one point so know how it feels, please don't let this stop you from attending. Look at previous trip reports ( from 2013 - I am seriously behind) to give yourself a taster - (or videos people have been posting) Once there you'll be part of the group in no time! Once again, everyone will have my phone number so please use it on the day If anyone has any issues or concerns or even nervous about coming, feel free to post here, or PM myself and I will get back to you as soon as possible. If you feel like my response is taking too long another member of the team will be more than happy to help. We will all try and help you out as much as we can. Please PM me or post here to say if you’re attending. If you are bringing a mate along with you, please also include who they are otherwise they will be known as ‘Thing 1/ 2 etc.’ The events with TPM have been fantastic this year, so that's finish this amazing year of events with a bang. Names will be added to the list once the date for the trip has been confirmed. Update (Rough Plan) We meet at 10 and will go straight to London eye At 11 we will do London dungeons At half 12 those who want a small lunch snack before nandos please go ahead and use the county halo facilities those who don't want to eat have a pint in the tavern at the dungeons At half 1 we will do sea life and those who want to do shriek can go through at 1 before moving onto Baker Street Predictably I'll say tussauds will start at half 3/4 those who don't want to do that can go weather spoons next door Which means nandos will this year start roughly at 5 This will give us enough time to enjoy winter wonderland with predicted arrival of 7:30pm (possibly earlier like everything else but hey this is a rough plan for those who need slots for shrek and dungeons) and we will stay there till people filter out. (As it's my last meet I'm running - it seems fitting to have some drinks as that's how people have come to know me haha) Attending (35-39) Airtime Falcon Alexander Amarghh Baron C Cian Han30 jamesTheManTheMyth J.S217 Kerfuffle KingNemesis (Maybe) Liam_T LG95 Luke_A Marc Mark9 Martin C Martin Doyle Matt Creek Mer MilesK Mitchada04 Mr Fish mrmonkey Nick Hutson Paige PasajeDelTerrorFan (Maybe) Peaj Phill Pritchard Rocket (Maybe) Roodie (Maybe) Ryan SmilerGeorge StevenVig Stuntman707 TallGuyDom (Evening only) terrortomb TopsyTurvy15 (Evening) Wegloo (when he turns up) Weronika (Paige's Friend)
  5. Hello all As it has probably come to a few peoples attention now (especially those who go to meets) that this year my career has taken off, which means I can no longer dedicate my time to running meets and the Christmas one that has just been set up will be my last one, Which can be found here . It is only fair for everyone that we get someone new to take these over who can spend the time on it that it deserves! As the years have gone on the meets have evolved to some spectacular events now. We have even gone abroad twice as a forum and many other trips around the country. Therefore it has turned into a 2 person job, for which we are now recruiting for during the closed season. I will still be around somewhat to help you if needed and a structure has developed over the years, so I'm on standby so this can be a smooth transition. What it will entail: - You'll be running the official meet ups throughout the year. - You will be ensuring new members on meets feel integrated with the rest of the group and ensure the flow of the day. This may mean making unpopular decisions, but you'll need to be direct at times to keep people moving and making a decision otherwise you just end up standing around, debating what to go on. - You will be advertising the meets leading up to them and encouraging other members to attend. - You may need to help members working out how to get to a meet and arranging lifts for them etc. - You will also be helping people with hotels if it ends up being a weekend event. (We will be setting up a TPM account, for people to deposit money for such trips - so you can just book it etc) - Most of all you'll be a friendly, outgoing character who can lead the group and listening to what the group as a whole want to do (I'm afraid to say that leading the events you are not always entitled to an opinion as you need to keep the feel of the group) If you are interested please PM me or contact me other ways. Loads of people have my number now as it's dotted all over the forum and Facebook is widely used too. Ill be closing applications by the end of this month and then we will be using a combination of opinions from the team and most importantly who the forum want to do it as at the end of the day on these meets they're gonna be listening/ following you. I will be helping you to start off with to make a smooth transition but ultimately you will be running the ship. Look forward to receiving you're applications/ interest
  6. Good Afternoon all of you wonderful people! I'm very excited to officially announce plans for our next Blackpool TPM Trip . The last one was extremely popular so even more excited! The date of the event is the extended weekend of Friday 2nd - Sunday 4th September 2016. As you can see it's an extended whole weekend! Which gives you a choice - come on the Friday, or the Saturday, or on the Sunday or a couple of the days or stay the whole weekend! I would imagine though the bulk of us will do Sat/Sun. Please take note if you plan to stay with us overnight, it will be your responsibility to book your own rooms and unfortunately if your under 18 we cannot help you with this! If you were to stay the night - under no circumstances will TPM get involved and take responsibility with how you stay overnight, as for the overnight section of the trip will be an over 18's event. Plus this event will rely on you wonderful kind drivers or which your help will be much appreciated. But based on past success's I'm sure this will be no problem. The Outline of the day/s will be as follows: On Saturday, Meet outside the entrance by Pasaje Del Terror at 08:30 am opposite the ticket gates to have a small social before the park opens, and then we will enter the park. Please bear in mind we will leave without you if you are late as it’s not fair on time keepers! As members have found out! If by any chance you happen to miss this meet point due to travel arrangements or just plain lateness you can either phone or text so we can arrange to meet . This first part of the morning we will make the most of the quiet park and churn out those rides. We will try our best to get on all the attractions. I know not everyone will want to do some of the rides at Blackpool Pleasure. If you decide to not come on please be polite and wait for everyone to come off and chat to other members whilst you are waiting. Or go off and do another attraction as long as you’ll be back after the group has finished riding the attraction. Please respect other people’s wishes who wish to ride certain things that you yourself may not be too keen with. During the day, around half 1, we will stop for a bite to eat where you can go and eat where you like and we will arrange where to meet after everyone has finished eating. (Who knows we might all want to eat the same thing anyway ) After lunch we will group together for the Official Group Photo for the meet and continue going round the park and riding the attractions people want to do until the park closes at 8. During the Evening we will relax and watch the Blackpool Illuminations. On the Sunday we will start on the Merlin Attractions meeting outside the Blackpool Tower at 09:45am. We will explore the Tower and during the day go to the Blackpool Madame Tussauds/ Sea Life & Dungeons just like our London Meets. During the afternoon we will have a little breather in the Blackpool Ballroom for a couple of drinks and if you are lucky me and my dance partner might go off and do some ballroom and latin on that famous floor whilst you socialise over drinks. For those who do go up on the Friday we will most likely go along the piers and arcades and see the nightlife. We will also try out the Waterpark either the Friday or the Sunday. As it's quite a big event the way the weekend is run is subject to change but due to the distance I know you and I will be in regular correspondence so everyone knows what is happening. I will be handing out my phone number for everyone who is attending the meet that day, should there be any problems. We aim to stay together as a group for the day, going from one activity to the next, enjoying getting to know people you share very similar interests with, the idea is to just go with the flow and enjoy the day with some awesome people. There will be many photo’s in the day being taken and the possibility of a few video clips. Whilst we cannot force you to stay with the group, it is the general purpose of these meets! If it's your first meet, I understand it can be nerve breaking - but we were all there at one point so know how it feels, please don't let this stop you from attending - Once there you'll be part of the group in no time! Just look at the past trips this year! I will soon be posting up a separate post on possible accommodation locations which you can use to help you decide where to sleep (If your staying for the night.) If however you know where your going already by all means book it up when we confirm the dates this time next week. I know for example I will be staying at a nice B&B near the Tower, right in the centre of it all to enjoy the nightlife. Plus some really good deals on Laterooms.com Once again, everyone will have my phone number so please use it on the day If anyone has any issues or concerns or even nervous about coming, feel free to post here, or PM myself and I will get back to you as soon as possible. If you feel like my response is taking too long another member of the team will be more than happy to help. We will all try and help you out as much as we can. Please PM me or post here to say if you’re attending. If you are bringing a mate along with you, please also include who they are so they are not known as ‘Plus 1.’ The events with TPM have been fantastic this year and this one will be no different! 7. Somewhere in the rural Hamptonshire countryside, lies a mysterious theme park. But this isn't any ordinary theme park, which is home to dinosaurs, Cobras, wonderful beasts and a famous animated pig (to name a few). This is a park that is certainly on the up, investing in attractions that improve the park whilst retaining and complimenting it's character and values. It's a place so renowned for its greatness, legend has it adventurers have travelled to the depths of boots to witness it's golden gates. WELCOME, TO PAULTONS PARK Home to the weird and wonderful, like this raining tree. For 2016, the park have invested at great lengths to bring us this wonderful prehistoric land through dedication of 8 million coins. It's well spent if you ask me. One the main new discoveries of this new lost area is one of two coasters, Flight Of The Pteranosaur. A veto a family suspended coaster which dominates the centre of the world. The rock work theming is superb and of high quality. And what a great family coaster this is. The coaster is great fun and interacts with the area superbly alongside a good proportion of theming. The end helix is also superb. As far as I'm aware the layout may be clone of another (maybe Grona's) but that doesn't take anything away from the ride which certainly looks to be a hit for the park. It's the perfect fun thrilling coaster for the family. Theming, with working animatronics. The second new coaster is the Veloceraptor. Another Vejoma, but this time a boomerang style coaster like Ben10. This is another superfluous coaster for the park and another fun ride. Whilst it doesn't beat Pteranosaur for me, I do prefer it to Ben 10 as this gives more a kick I think. But the area is more than just coasters though (listen Merlin). They also have one of these crazy fun spinning rides like the Crazy Taxis at Europa Park. This ones called Boulder Dash. This small Triceratops coaster, which I didn't get chance to ride ( ). Fact, this ride isn't actually brand new and was rethemed into the new area. It used be known as the Flying Frog I believe. They also have a Safari track ride too which is neat. Some very good theming here too. It's great to see park put so much effort into something just like this whilst a number of others (not naming) are either ripping theirs out or leaving them to rot. Best car style attraction in the uk by far. Theres also an interactive Dino show too, which is good to see the park not just focus on the ride side either. Plus there's some roaming dinosaur animatronics in the area too. They even have an area shop which is themed to a good level also. They've also added a new food place and smaller flat ride to the area too. Certainly making one of the best themed areas in the uk. Also in the park, resides my second home. Critter Creek. The theming quality they have here has been done very well, especially for a park like Paultons. And here is the Cat-O-pillar, which again has been rethemed into the new area. The theming again is fantastic, weird and wacky. The coaster was alright but not my favourite. The area is also home to a random aquarium type place. For a park like this, it's a nice little walk through. The park is also home to Cobra, arguably their signature ride. The queue line was a little shabby (spilt mess in the queue and a few areas of chipped pant), but that can be forgiven for the moment. There is even a shed tunnel, and that isn't the best part. Cobra is a really fun coaster and possibly my favourite ride at the park (either this or Pteranosaur). Two things to note about this ride are that it is a Gerstlauer, and an enjoyable one at that and that its 10 years old and was working fine. No lifeless structure here. Speaking on lifelss, this ride was shut (at least when we went passed it) which was a shame as it looked fun. They however have a Disko called The Edge (not Kobra) as Paultons know how to spell. This one is also run on a better setting too as you really get a good cycle. My only criticism are you were required to wear leg seat belts and mine was very tight. (Which ruined the experience in a way) and the ride doesn't feature much in terms of theming, but I'm sure that will be sorted one day. The park also have a 4D cinema which features a fairly quirky but nicely themed facade outside (not cheap looking). The movie itself was alright, nothing amazing but was nice for a sit down and seemed entertaining enough for the guests. Its no Angry Birds but is good for what it is especially being the only undercover attraction so far. The park even have a loverly grand carousel. Featuring some loverly shrubbery too. But the one thing park are famous for is Peppa Pig World, the investment (alongside Cobra) which have really helped the park develop in the last few years. Sadly I didn't anymore photos here because my phone's camera reached capacity but all I can say is, it's a loverly themed area for the park's clientele and the park got the right balance with everything there too. We only managed one ride in the area, that was Windy Castle. From the outside it looks like a little innocent spinning observation ride thing, think again! Peaj, Steve, Alex and I all shared one capsule and when you have no spin limits on a ride that also rotates upwards on a 4-5 minute cycle you're in for one hell of a white knuckle ride. it was honestly crazy and ridiculous how crazily fast we were all going here and whilst it was hilarious to start with, I'm certain my thrill limit has been reached as it felt very painful and comftable towards the end of the ride and pretty nauseated for the tail end of the day too. Think this has put me off tea cups for the time being. As much as things post 2006 have clearly marked the up for the park (moreso post 2010), there's still a fair few number of areas in the park that look bland and in need of an update. one of these is the park's log ride which is pretty much an off the shelf Reberchon. Considering this ride isn't even 20 years old does show how superior their new stuff is now. I could probably say the same for the Go Karts. I didn't try these either as I think there was an up charge. that being said, there isn't a massive amount of upselling at the park. Considering I didn't see any HB leisure stalls or any posters trying to persuade me to buy a pass. Although the park exit is deliberately through a massive toy shop, that is more a tactical decision (and a cunning one at that). But Paultons isn't just home to a decent selection of family rides. There's also a very reasonable amount of gardens and green spaces which help enhance a day here. Which made for a really enjoyable day out that was enjoyed by all. Unfortunately though Peaj was eaten by a giant hedge snake and hasn't been seen since. Paultons is definitely a loverly park and worth a visit. its a place that puts effort and dedication into everything they do. Whether that be building a giant new themed area, staff friendliness or keeping the place tidy (we saw someone pick up litter minutes after it was dropped). With the possible exception of Cobra's queue, everywhere was beautifully well kept with no signs of wear and tear anywhere and a good atmosphere throughout. The future for the park is bright and seeing the massive improvements they've made in the last few years (each one better than the last). All they need to do is build a proper flume and add a dark ride and they will then have a perfect full lineup. Whilst the park have little to nothing in terms of merchandise, I think they have it right by housing a massive toy shop at the exit which will no doubt be blissful joy for many of the kids (and a nightmare for many of their parents). Chessington step aside. This is what a family park should be. Jump in the boot and let's go!
  8. Good afternoon all of you wonderful people! I'm very excited to FINALLY officially announce plans for our meet at Paulton's Park! It's a busy period with holidays and stuff so I'd imagine it'll be smallish but those meets generally mean you get to spend some quality time with people & great for those who want to try their first meet and intimidated by larger numbers! There will be another optional Ice breaker game. The meet is on Saturday 13th August 2016. As usual the final confirmed date was voted by YOU The Outline of the day will be as follows: Meet outside the park entrance at 09:30am so we have a chance to obtain our tickets to this lovely little park. As soon as the gates for the park open we will go into the park. If by any chance you happen to miss this meet point due to travel arrangements or just plain lateness you can phone or text so we can arrange to meet you or meet up later in the day. This first part of the morning we will make the most of the quiet park and churn out those rides. Please bear in mind we will leave without you if you are late as it’s not fair on time keepers! A couple of members have found out this on previous meets. We will then continue visiting the attractions and we will try our best to get on all the attractions people wish to ride, which will be arranged before the meet. One thing that has been annoying in the past is the decision making on where to go next and then the group changing their minds if a queue is above a certain level. This just ends us up in the past riding less as we spend a lot of the time deciding where to go. I know not everyone will want to do some of the rides at Paulton's Park, but at the end of the day Paulton's Park is more than just the rides. If you decide to not come on please be polite and wait for everyone to come off and chat to other members whilst you are waiting. Or go off and do another attraction as long as you’ll be back after the group has finished riding the attraction. If you are going I will be talking to you beforehand to see what attractions you are most keen to do so I can make sure I can arrange the day so that everyone gets a chance to ride what they wish to ride. Please respect other people’s wishes who wish to ride certain things that you yourself may not be too keen with. During the day, around half 1, we will stop for a bite to eat where you can go and eat where you like and we will arrange where to meet after everyone has finished eating. (Who knows we might all want to eat the same thing anyway ) After lunch we will group together for the Official Group Photo for the meet and continue going round the park and riding the attractions people want to do until the park closes. Look at previous trip topics to give yourself a taster - Once there you'll be part of the group in no time! If you are bringing a mate along with you, please also include who they are so they are not known as ‘Plus 1.’ The events with TPM have been fantastic the last few years and this one will be no different - Don't Miss Out. Names will be added to the list once the date for the trip has been confirmed. Attending (0)

Just look at the past trips this year! I will soon be posting up a separate post on possible accommodation locations which you can use to help you decide where to sleep (If your staying for the night.) If however you know where your going already by all means book it up when we confirm the dates this time next week. I know for example I will be staying at a Travelodge in Newcastle half hour away as it has some good night life around there Once again, everyone will have my phone number so please use it on the day If anyone has any issues or concerns or even nervous about coming, feel free to post here, or PM myself and I will get back to you as soon as possible. 12. Attention all fellow maniacs. The collective opps here at TPM have decreed a search for a new logo. YES!!! A NEW LOGO!!! So we are calling on you, YES YOU, to help us in our search. We know that you are the most wonderful group of creative minds ever assembled in one place. A group that can come up with whole ip's and storylines for new rides from just a single drawing of an unthemed building. A group that can dream up rumours of ride seats being put backwards seemingly from thin air. A most imaginative and productive group indeed, which is why we need you. So what are we looking for? Well the current logo looks like: The crew at TPM know that ideas always begin small, so you dont need to be the best artist in the world. We are looking for ideas as much as prettiness as ideas grow. For example the black and red logo (number 5) of the list below came about from Josh saying, Then some fool with 5 minutes over lunch knocked it up creating number 5. It was then improved on to give the hot and steamy bottom one (number 6). Or if you simply think the current logo is wonderful then tell us, sticking with that is also an option. What do I win? Well since, I hope, the winning design will be created by all of us here, no matter who does the final bit of art work, we all win by getting a new shiny all purpose logo. So - here are a few designs that the TPM team have knocked up. What do you think of them? Can you do better? Do you have an idea that could spark off someone else?
  13. Good morning all of you wonderful people! I'm very excited to officially announce plans for our Guildford Meet 2016! As usual you had the power to vote and you changed the date of the meeting once again so the meet at the moment is provisionally on Saturday 2nd January 2016. Due to popular request there will be an additional event to the line up this year which is Air Hop. A Trampolining park down the road So if you are going to be there from the start meet at Air Hop at 11:30 - Prices for it are £10 but £11.50 if you don't own airhop socks! Here is a link so you know how to get there http://airhop-guildford.com/finding-us/ and http://www.guildfordspectrum.co.uk/content/view/14/31/ The Outline of the day will be as follows: Meet outside Airhop for 11:30am to get yourself ready for the safety briefing for our session between 12pm and 1pm. After this is done we will make our way to the Guildford Spectrum where we should arrive around 1:30pm as shown in a cheeky helpful picture below (in case you don’t know the area). We will then have a quick snack/ eat within the spectrum which currently offers a Wimpy (Burgers), Trattoria (Pizza), The View (Like the 360 Bar), Costa Coffee (Coffee )& The Strikes Bar (Drinks), so this should cater for everyone’s different tastes. This then gives us time to go get are skates and lockers ready to hit the Ice as soon as the session starts at 15:00. Price’s are yet to be confirmed for 2015 but at the moment they are approximately £6.00 for the session and £2.00 for the Skate Hire (10p more than last year for the second year in a row ). During the skating session those who do not want to skate can be a spectator to all the comedy you’ve been framed moments of us falling over (and maybe get the cheeky video clip ). The session will finish at 4:30pm where those who have not come to Skate and only want to show up for the meal and bowling can meet us within the Ice Skating arena. Before those skaters leave who do not want to bowl we have The Return Of The Group Photo so you can all have a picture to remember your day. Then we will get to play 2 games of bowling starting hopefully at 17:30pm which is priced at £5.70 each (20p more than last year )which should provide a good amusing end to the day. The event will approximately finish around 8pm if you want a rough estimate and after which you will be free to do whatever you please - Most likely we will end up at a Frankie & Bennie's as per tradition . I will be handing out my phone number for everyone who is attending the meet that day, should there be any problems. We aim to stay together as a group for the day, going from one activity to the next, enjoying getting to know people you share very similar interests with, the idea is to just go with the flow and enjoy the day with some awesome people. 15. Good Morning all of you wonderful people! It's finally here and I'm very excited to officially announce plans for our First European trip to Disneyland Paris! The date of the event is provisionally set for the Weekend of Saturday 5th - Sunday 6th September 2015! As usual you have the power to change the date. As you can see it's the whole weekend, due to the extent of the trip and likelihood is those driving will be going Friday night! Please take note if you plan to stay with us overnight, it will be your responsibility to book your own rooms/ flights and unfortunately if your under 18 we cannot help you with this! If you were to come under no circumstances will TPM get involved and take responsibility with your stay, and if you did go you would also need written permission from a guardian just for the sake of border control! This trip has been set in mind as an over 18's event. I understand some of you may be disappointed about this but due to the meet being outside the country it complicates matters too much! As this is the largest scale of a meet TPM has ever attempted some advanced planning for those who are interested and want to go will need to take place. I will help you as much as I can with groupings and questions and answers about the trip and I will go into much further detail on this with those who want to go. Depending on your circumstances some may have to pay some money up front to their 'group leader' so things can get booked The Outline of the day/s will be as follows: Meet At the Central plaza outside sleeping beauty's castle on the edge of main street USA at 08:15 am for those who want to make use of magic hours on an annual pass and if not then meet at the same spot at 10:15 am This will give people a chance to sort out their tickets. We will ensure during the day for those who may want to sort out an annual pass that you will get the chance in the day as the rest can watch a show or parade by the castle Please bear in mind we will leave without you if you are late as it’s not fair on time keepers! If by any chance you happen to miss this meet point due to travel arrangements or just plain lateness you can either phone or text so we can arrange to meet you. As members have found out! We will then go and enjoy our day in the Disney Parks. I know not everyone will want to do some of the rides/ shows at Disney. (Who knows we might all want to eat the same thing anyway ) After lunch we will group together for the Official Group Photo for the day and continue going round the park. Around 7-8 we will have a quick snack somewhere to keep us going and then continue riding the attractions people want to do until the park closes. . At 10pm We will watch Disney Dreams. After this you may head back to your hotels or join me by heading out for a bit of nightlife in the Disney village until 1am. The Sunday we will meet at the same time and place as the Saturday but instead at 10:15 we will meet by the tower of terror in the studios park and basically continue what we were doing Saturday until people need to start leaving to make their flights or crossings. You will have my number (and some of the senior teams) if you become split so by all means use it. The meets are a fantastic laugh and everyone is invited, even if you have never posted before or been to any kind of meet at all. I know for example I will be staying at an apart hotel by val'd'europe. If you are bringing a mate along with you, please also include who they are so they are not known as ‘Plus 1.’ The events with TPM have been fantastic this year and this one will be no different! 16. Good Afternoon all of you wonderful people! I'm very excited to officially announce plans for our Doctor Oakwood Meet 2015! The date of the event is the Weekend of Saturday 15th (Oakwood) - Sunday 16th (Cardiff) August 2015! As decided by you. As you can see it's the whole weekend! Which gives you a choice - come on the Saturday, come on the Sunday or stay the whole weekend! Please take note if you plan to stay with us overnight, it will be your responsibility to book your own rooms and unfortunately if your under 18 we cannot help you with this! If you were to stay the night - under no circumstances will TPM get involved and take responsibility with how you stay overnight, as for the overnight section of the trip will be an over 18's event.. We will however like to see you during the day at the park (or town centre on the Sunday ) The Outline of the day/s will be as follows: Oakwood Day Meet by the entrance at 09:45 am so we can sort out our tickets for when the park opens at 10am. Please bear in mind we will leave without you if you are late as it’s not fair on time keepers! If by any chance you happen to miss this meet point due to travel arrangements or just plain lateness you can either phone or text so we can arrange to meet you. As members have found out! We will then go and enjoy our day at Oakwood. I know not everyone will want to do some of the rides at Oakwood. If you decide to not come on please be polite and wait for everyone to come off and chat to other members whilst you are waiting. Or go off and do another attraction as long as you’ll be back after the group has finished riding the attraction. Around 7-8 we will have a quick snack somewhere to keep us going and then continue riding the attractions people want to do until the park closes. . The day will finish off at 10pm when Oakwood hold a fantastic Fireworks Display. Day In Cardiff As we are already in Wales and a 12 hour stint at Oakwood is good enough, we will finish with a more relaxing day in Cardiff and go and try out the redone Doctor Who Experience. We will be meeting in the town at Half 10 and the day will consist of the experience, a bit of mini golf, a meal near the harbour and also a swim in the Cardiff International Pool which hosts a nice number of water slides. This should keep us going until around 7pm when we will start saying our goodbyes. This day will have a better timetable nearer the meet due to the nature of the availability of the attractions. However those that are interested in exploring Cardff for the day will all be informed and kept in the loop but the basis of the day is to relax a bit more and get to know people outside of the theme park environment. I will be handing out my phone number for everyone who is attending the meet that day, should there be any problems. We aim to stay together as a group for the day, going from one activity to the next, enjoying getting to know people you share very similar interests with, the idea is to just go with the flow and enjoy the day with some awesome people. 18. I just realised I hadn't written a blog from the TPM LEGOLAND Meet! Should have been a quite important one too seeing as I haven't been before... First impressions of LEGOLAND, it was alright! Obviously designed with little children in mind but it was a fun day all the same. Though I will admit that I fear I'm too much of a thrill seeker and it definitely needs a few more serious coasters... Still loving the meets though Lego Bingo... Got very competitive. Got a list of 20-ish questions from Peaj the night before and sent my answers back, and on the morning we were sent a list of the questions and people's answers. Then you have to work out who gave which answer. But some answers apply to more than one person, and some people apply to more than one answer. Ugh. Talking to people. I'm vaguely ashamed to admit that I came second... Alpengeist killed my winning streak But we were the only two to actually complete the list. He just got it faster than me. So SCB, you'd better be grateful I gave you my prize. To the park then, Dragon was quite good, probably the fastest coaster I've been on with only a lap bar (Yeah, REALLY shows how travelled I am that...) and lots of the other rides were quite good. LOVED the Lego theming. Like, really, it was fab Now I understand why the LEGOLAND brand works so well for Merlin. I would love to work on a project like that, building things like that. Miniland was amazing, I could have just wandered around for hours. This is all really increasing my belief that Scruffy Dog could be my dream job...!
  19. Good Afternoon all of you wonderful people! I'm very excited to officially announce plans for our Open Season Meet at Thorpe Park! The date for the event will take place on Sunday 22nd March 2014. The Outline of the day will be as follows: Meet by the annual pass entrance at 09:30 am by the cash machine just on the off chance the gates could possibly open earlier than advertised such as a couple of seasons ago. As soon as the gates open we will go into the park, if by any chance you happen to miss this meet point due to travel arrangements or just plain lateness you can either a) phone or text so we can arrange to meet you or meet up at the second meeting point later in the day. This trip will have the return of the popular Ice Breaker game called Spooning. Those who have participated last time had great fun and if you do not know what it is everything will be explained on the day. The prize for the winner is an Easter Egg . This first part of the morning we will make the most of the quiet park and churn out those rides. Once the park starts to fill up a little bit more we will calm down slightly and then have a chill for 15 minutes around the stealth rocks so if for whatever reason you could not get there for opening you can meet us at 11:30 am if you had not arranged to meet beforehand via phone. Please bear in mind we will leave without you if you are late as it’s not fair on time keepers! Punctuality has improved dramatically in the past year so long may this continue. We will then continue visiting the attractions and it will be arranged beforehand that we will try our best to get on all the attractions people wish to ride. One thing that has been annoying in the past is the decision making on where to go next and then the group changing their minds if a queue is above a certain level. This just ends us up in the past riding less as we spend a lot of the time deciding where to go. I know not everyone will want to do some of the rides at THORPE PARK. 21. Good morning all of you wonderful people! I'm very excited to officially announce plans for our Guildford Meet 2014! As usual you had the power to vote and you changed the date of the meeting once again so the meet is on Saturday 31st January 2015. Here is a link so you know how to get there http://www.guildfordspectrum.co.uk/content/view/14/31/ The Outline of the day will be as follows: Meet by the stairs outside the Guildford Spectrum between 11:30am and 12pm as shown in a cheeky helpful picture below (in case you don’t know the area). This then gives us time to go into the Spectrum and get are skates and lockers ready to hit the Ice as soon as the session starts at 12:30. Price’s are yet to be confirmed for 2014 but at the moment they are approximately £5.90 for the session and £1.90 for the Skate Hire (10p more than last year ). During the skating session those who do not want to skate can be a spectator to all the comedy you’ve been framed moments of us falling over (and maybe get the cheeky video clip ). The session will finish at 2pm where those who have not come to Skate and only want to show up for the meal and bowling can meet us within the Ice Skating arena. From here this is where times become approximate. We will then go to eat within the spectrum which currently offers a Wimpy (Burgers), Trattoria (Pizza), The View (Like the 360 Bar), Costa Coffee (Coffee )& The Strikes Bar (Drinks), so this should cater for everyone’s different tastes. After we have eaten and before those skaters leave who do not want to bowl we have The Return Of The Group Photo so you can all have a picture to remember your day. Then we will get to play 2 games of bowling which is priced at £5.50 each which should provide a good amusing end to the day. The event will approximately finish around 6pm if you want a rough estimate and after which you will be free to do whatever you please . I will be handing out my phone number for everyone who is attending the meet that day, should there be any problems. 22. The traditional annual Fright Night Meet is upon us. Always one of the most popular events of the year! I can only apologize over the EXTREME delay of announcing this trip and that was due to some unsuccessful corresponding away from the forum. However in the knowledge of some new details we will be better equipped for next year which I hope will not disappoint and I will assure you next year's Fright Night's meet will for once be announced in plenty of time rather than the traditional last minute as you have grown accustomed to over the last 3 years. Date Sunday 19th October 2014 Time 9:30am (Please be there on time) Where - Outside the Entrance As it is a long day and you wish to come to the meet later in the day there will be additional meeting points. As you will have my contact details we will arrange the most convenient place for you and the group that is already in progress. We will not wait if you are late! If you are unable to attend these meeting points you will all have a contact number so you can arrange to meet us in park. I will be handing out my phone number for everyone who is attending the meet that day, should there be any problems. We aim to stay together as a group for the day, going from one activity to the next, enjoying getting to know people you share very similar interests with, the idea is to just go with the flow and enjoy the day with some awesome people. Just look at the past trips this year! For the older members after the park has closed we will be arranging for those who want to go to try out Brave It Alone. This is a fantastic experience to which I would highly recommend. If you would like to take part in this please contact me so we can arrange to experience it at similar times. Tickets are £20.00 but it's OVER 18'S ONLY. However if you do not wish to take part or too young and want to know the reactions of those poor fools you are more than welcome to join us after in Bar 360 for a social drink before we head home. 23. Hi and welcome to this third part of my exciting weekend in Blackpool. Here's how the story continues after our wet immersive ride on Valhalla. It's heading towards the end of the day and twilight has arrived [no the ride sadly]. The park looks really beautiful at sunset, and despite being the tail end of the day it just makes the park come to life, it looks just as beautiful as Thorpe does at this time of day. By now it was time for some final evening/ twilight rides. Another round on the Grand National was first which provided an even more amazing experience this time, as our train was literally flying through the circuit giving lots of airtime and excitement, helped by the fact we won the race too. We had another go on Big Dipper was very good again, but not quite on Grand National's reign. Another go on Wallace and Gromit was taken, I'm just a very big fan before our final final ride during our trip. But which Big attraction did this turn out to be? For a brief moment, I would just like to mention just how beautiful the park looks at night, it's amazing and quite possibly the best park I've seen at night. Anyway back on topic, I'm sure you've guessed the final ride of the day [or should that now be night?] and that's The Big One. The ride at night was both very good and very bad this time. Very good in the remarkable night time views you see below, the racing around the track at night and the first drop being even more intimidating at night. The drawbacks of course were the ride still lacks force in most parts and the ride was also surprisingly rough too as it was rather violent and jerky TBH [who said you need shoulder restraints for a rough ride?]. And the day was over. Blackpool is a really good park despite the place getting a lot of slack as they seem to try and put a lot of effort in to the place despite the amount of empty and SBNO ride spots. Apart from the slightly grumpy cleaner lady at the end, It was an absolutely fantastic day and I get to return here again one day. For the 4-5 hour drive up here, the journey was just about worth it. Another thing here is just how many firsts and records I have achieved during this trip including my first wild mouse, first racing Steel & Woodie, Tallest coaster in the uk [and tallest one I've done yet] plus doing my first SLC. Moving on, our trip at the Pleasure Beach may be finished but our trip and time away certainly isn't. Whilst having some chips, cheese & Gravy up the promenade whilst looking at the beautiful illuminations which just look amazing along with the occasional dressed up and lit tram which was a magical experience, we headed to the South Pier. While most headed for the Waltzer, I headed for the Log Flume with Toofpik which cost a fairly reasonable £3. The ride was alright, just a standard general compact two drop log flume you see at many fairs and small parks. Good for another ride credit, although it does make The Flume look like Chipas. We then headed to Central Pier where there were more fairground rides around, but none of us could be bothered to do any more and just had a cheeky drink at the bar at the back of the pier. When finished, we set off back down the pier to head to one of the best themed and looking amusement arcades on the whole promenade, Coral Island. Full of many amusements and video game machines, I was quite excited of visiting this place at first, plus not to mention what makes this place look better than most other arcades is it includes a couple of rides including a Pirate monorail and ghost train ride. Walking you do feel quite excited and with rides and arcades over here it's almost like going in the indoor bit of Fantasy Island or the Trocadera [in it's hey day when it was open]. Sadly the Ghost Train was closed when we arrived meaning we first headed for the Pirate Monorail which for £1 was quite a bargain. And so began the ride. It's not a bad little attraction, which goes around most of the floor space of the building giving some ok views of the surrounding area, plus there's also a brief random inside section which is separated from the rest of the arcade which includes some pirate theming elements and random audio music too. There's also guns to shoot random targets along the ceiling too although sadly the scores were turned off at the time we were riding. It's a very lucky we were actually able to ride this in the end as the lady operating this was a bit funny as she said this was a kids ride and weren't able to go on it without children. Luckilly Peaj managed to talk with the op and we were all finally to get on the ride. The events with staff didn't get much better as the time progressed as security guards pushed us on from a couple of video machines for no reason which gave me quite a bitter taste in my mouth. They're supposed to be bringing in customers, not scaring them away! decent arcade, unpleasant staff. After walking back to our hotel where dominoes pizza, TPM twister and general meet chat and banter occurred it was time for bed as we headed off in preparation for the second and final day that awaited us in the morning. But what towering events await us? When will the trip excitement unravel like a circus and who's waltzing off in a magical world only Merlin could control? Wait and see in Part 4.
  24. Good evening all of you wonderful people! After a very close call in the poll Thorpe Park eventually came out top at 14 to Paultonn's 13 and Oakwoods 12. Sorry if your favourite did not win but we will make sure these trips are incorporated in the future as I know there is demand for is there. I'm very excited to officially announce plans for our Thorpe Park Summer Nights Meet! The date of the event is Saturday 2nd August 2014. There will be 2 parts to this meet - Thorpe Park during the day and trying out the summer activities and summer nights event itself! The Outline of the day will be as follows: Meet by the annual pass entrance at 09:00 am by the cash machine just on the off chance the gates could possibly open earlier than advertised such as last year. As soon as the gates open we will go into the park, if by any chance you happen to miss this meet point due to travel arrangements or just plain lateness you can either phone or text so we can arrange to meet you or . This first part of the morning we will make the most of the quiet park and churn out those rides. Please bear in mind we will leave without you if you are late as it’s not fair on time keepers! As members have found out! We will then continue visiting the attractions and it will be arranged beforehand that we will try our best to get on all the attractions.. I know not everyone will want to do some of the rides at THORPE PARK. (Who knows we might all want to eat the same thing anyway ) After lunch we will group together for the Official Group Photo for the meet and continue going round the park and riding the attractions people want to do until the park closes. There will be another meeting point at 7 pm on the bridge for those coming to Summer Nights If you can't handle the park during the day I will be handing out my phone number for everyone who is attending the meet that day, should there be any problems. You will have my number (and some of the senior teams) if you become split so by all means use it. The meets are a fantastic laugh and everyone is invited, even if you have never posted before or been to any kind of meet at all. If it's your first meet, I understand it can be nerve breaking - but we were all there at one point so know how it feels, please don't let this stop you from attending - Once there you'll be part of the group in no time! Just look at the past trips this year! If you are bringing a mate along with you, please also include who they are so they are not known as ‘Plus 1.’ The events with TPM have been fantastic this year and this one will be no different!.
