  1. What else do you think is going to happen to the fuselage?! This is how it is in the plans and this is how it will stay. Looks amazing! From the plans as has been mentioned above, the engine will be on the ground and a broken engine support will be placed above it on the wing.
  2. OK, so this project keeps on impressing. Not only do we have a plane, we have a real plane! Or at least real parts from a plane, those engines are real nacelles people! Although the second engine nearer to the wing tip in the pic above looks like it is yet to be fitted to the wing. 1, there is a metal support under it (which I believe is temporary) 2, it is not at the same angle as the other engine, it is slightly rotated suggesting it is yet to be fitted.Bloody amazing though.
  3. Oh right, I cant see it though! :unsure:OK I saw a frog, but now I have registered I see a piccie! Whoop.
  4. I hate the closed season! No piccies!
  5. OMG, they are actually constructing the plane on the semi-monocoque principle! 'No sniggering at the back!' Or at least that is what it looks like, lol.
  6. Nemesis has all the elements a great coaster should have. It is fast, has a tight course, multiple elements and keeps on relentlessly going right up until the break run. It offers an intense experience that not many coasters can supply from start to finish in the way it does. As much as The Swarm is going to be a fantastic coaster and by all accounts a fast and exhilarating ride, it wont be able to produce the sheer intensity of Nemesis. This you can tell from the layout alone. It is the reason that Nemesis is regularly declared in the top 10 best roller coasters in the world. I don't think The Swarm will match that accolade. But that does not mean it cannot be a great ride.
  7. It won't be as intense as Nemesis, you can see that from the layout. Nemesis has a very tight twisting course, this may be faster, but it has a larger footprint and no tight features. That said, I am sure it will still pack a punch. :-)
  8. I would like to ask them 'what in their view is the best B&M rollercoaster to date?'
  9. Prepare to dive, float, swoop, soar and glide all with glorious ground and theme interaction in 2012!
  10. Its like Oblivion, only 10 times more scary!!! Imagine being on the right hand side and being slowly flipped over on your head at 127ft!This is epic!
  11. Well we have pretty much already seen them in the promotional graphics. They are the same as Raptor's, and why not as they fit in with this theme very nicely. So that is what I am expecting/hoping for. Thanks for the photos guys. A forest of supports! Looks fab, although I cant work out which support is what at the moment apart from the inline twist and the tall one on the right for the overbanked turn. And I just realised, I think this may be the first ride installation I have seen since Inferno, where there have so far been no negative comments! We normally have something to complain about! But there is still a long way to go, so lets see.
  12. Trouble is mate, if all you have to compare Inferno with is Nemesis, then well clearly it is not as good. Nemesis is the best Inverted B&M in the world for crying out loud. I can assure you, I have ridden at least 10 inverted B&M's around the world and I can assure you, Inferno is up there with the best of them for theming, intensity and ground hugging near misses. Now I am chuffed to nuts that we are getting a new B&M and The Swarm looks like the most exciting coaster we have seen in years, but I would say to those that have never ridden a truly great Intamin not to forget they regularly win best steel coasters in the world! And if we ever get anything like Maverick in this country I can assure you, your opinion would be very swiftly changed!! It certainly opened my eyes, very wide indeed!!
  13. Don't take me too seriously Benin, that was supposed to be a bit of a joke about how popular this ride is going to be! So if we are going to see some pyrotechnics, and that is a big if, where do we think they may be used? Something blowing up, but what? Maybe at the bottom of the first drop by the aircraft? The rate this thing is going up, could we be seeing some testing before Christmas? And Thorpeparkjack, I'm not sure what B&M Inverted coasters you have been on that I have not, but I would hardly call Inferno crap!!
  14. Well to be fair to Intamin, Maverick is one of the best rollercoasters I have been on since Nemesis for pure intense thrill value. So I would love to see an Intamin Blitz coaster in 2015. But hey that is for another discussion, this is The Swarm, and what a mighty fine looking machine it is!!!! The flaming queues for this thing are going to have to be extend out the park gates!!!
  15. And that is one of the reasons we all love B&M so much. The track makes the ride look so bold, menacing and powerful. B&M's have presence, even if they don't always deliver quite what they promise. But our track record of intense B&M rides in the UK is good, and I hope The Swarm will continue that trend. So far, it is looking rather good!!
  16. Yup Neil that is my conclusion too. I am not sure where this idea has come from that the tower is not under construction or that it might be omitted!? As far as I am concerned, that is clearly the bare bones structure of it sticking up in the air!
  17. The picture above is the south elevation, the photo I was referring to below is the east elevation. The two steel girders sticking up into the air are the same height as the main station roof, and therefore must be something to do with the tower on the right hand side of the schematic above. Is that the tower we are referring to?
  18. The tail fin on the aircraft themeing is going to offer an amazing near miss element into the zero g roll! As for the tower, what are the two tall metal structural elements for to the left of the track exit point? They look like part of the tower construct to me.
  19. Yeah, although at 3mph that wont really be a shocker! I must admit, I am not a fan of using the rollercoaster supports as a near miss event. That seems to be how a lot of American coasters do it, but I think it is far more effective with terrain and theming like on Nemesis.
  20. I am reluctant to see too many effects go in, as we all know that they are unlikely to be working 6 months after opening!!! lol. But yay for Thorpe for making the effort here so far!
  21. Oh, Thorpe and B&M, I love you! This looks amazing! Boo to the trim, but I suspect this ride is being designed as a g-monster as well as a soaring experience, so I will respect their judgement for now!As for the track being lowered/removed from the water, I wonder if this is going to be used as part of the viral promotions to back the idea of this rising from the lake or being discovered by Thorpe during park landscaping?!
  22. That looks mighty fine! Such an impressive looking coaster.
