  1. Done the Towers bits on my Merlin pass, couldn't suggest they are a good day out. Pissing down with rain so most of the pier stuff was closed. Don't do the Sandcastle on my own as a fat 50 year old bloke on his own is just too pervy. So I just hung around the shops looking at the freaks. Generally scarier than anything in the dungeons. Still better than mowing lawns in the snow and rain though.
  2. I knew that Benin, that was what I was getting at! And I always love Jamie's posts, he makes me look positive. Been to Blackpoo today shopping with my wife... what a dungheap. BPB is the only thing worth doing in blackpoo. And my spelling is correct in that context.
  3. Sat idol for years Jamie? Completely unacceptable.
  4. So they can flog more queuejumping passes, isn't it?
  5. I don't think it should be an inversion, they should just bung Rita's circuit on at the end. Combining the two rides together would make a reasonably decent ride overall, not the "half a ride" experience both rides give you.
  6. Dipper couldn't test because of new brake bits being fitted, and work being done on the station, so only one train could be run in. Mouses new brakes played up, and always struggles running in. It was extremely windy so Steeplechase was down... and as you weren't there Jamie, there was no need to open Valhalla! Looks like they need you to set up a competent maintenance programme Jamie! If I ruled the world etc.
  7. Loads of problems last year Jamie, Rev winched into the station at least 3 times, Mousey stuck on the first u turn... (oh how I wish it was me), printer problems on wristbands, Big One estopping behind the station all day, Wallace and Gromit having a lengthy funny turn, massive queues at the entrance and information desks, plastic printer packing up for season tickets, can't recall much else but I'm sure there would have been more, all usual for opening day. And Benin, the wait to get on the Revolution yesterday was scarier than the ride itself, what with the station rocking and being blown into the low handrail in the wind.
  8. Opening day on the beach this year was absolutely no different from any other year! Sorry to correct you Jamie... but I do actually go at the start of each season. They always have a large number of problems getting the rides open and running every season. I had a great day there yesterday, always love the opening cock ups and chaos, my biggest worry was no draught beer, got a dozen coaster rides in during a 3 hour visit, which works out at just over a quid a ride. I love early season opening to get my fix after a long sad winter. Too windy for the Big One, Mouse has issues with new brakes. Valhalla and spongebob are cold wet rides, so very few would have wanted to ride anyway on a wet, cold February day. And dishonest park Zach??? I'm sure there was no intent to deceive, have you been to Thorpe in the last couple of seasons, in my humble opinion, no park has done worse than Thorpe in the last couple of seasons to get their rides fully open.
  9. Tower circus is still free on a season pass if you turn up on the day early and collect tickets for that afternoon in person. Confirmed by the ticket staff when I collected my pass last week. Tower lift only open weekends at the moment, Dungeons open daily, as is Sealife.
  10. I've put my bid in, I'm a gardener and a raised bed border/BPB souvenir would be great... and I'm old enough to remember the bridge being built!
  11. Just to follow this up, we threw away our first day tickets on entry, then got bouncebacks from the fasttrack booth with a bit of begging... two of us in on the first day, then all four in on the second day, all for £22 including 2 days car parking. Not bad value! Spent the saving on beer, kebabs and junk to keep Merlin in profit. Had an amazing time with no queues and only Stealth closed out of the rides we wanted to do. Only let down was no queue on the M25.
  12. Well I did my annual trip to Thorpe on Monday and Tuesday, got a couple of dozen rides in a nearly empty park with good company and friendly staff, but cried all the (250 miles) way home 'cos Stealth was closed. And we managed Bouncebacks on a free Sun reader ticket thanks to advice from you lovely people on here. And good to see you have finally got over ride closures Jamie .
  13. I'm pretty sure it was originally the water chute at Belle Vue Manchester.. Nice ride, fast drop. Was on the site of old fashioned motor boats that ran to the side of the fun house about 40 years ago, oh dear, am I that old?!
  14. I trawled through the T&C's and though it mentioned showing your day ticket, it didn't say it had to be a full priced one. Might send them in to give it a shot on the 2nd. No harm in giving it a go, we are down overnight in Chertsey anyway. Cheers for the replies.
  15. Do Thorpe do the above? Going on free Sun Tickets in November with family, but we have tickets for 3rd, other family have tickets for 2nd. Will they be able to get return tomorrow tickets from the Sun free tickets? Newbie member, long time lurker. Cheers in advance for any info.
