Thing is, if you buy the CD, the music label will get much much more of your money than the band. Chances are the band will never see any of that money at all.Most of a bands income is from merch and live shows nowadays. Big media takes all the rest.

I'm the same as Joe. I much prefer to have something tangeable to own, that I have paid my money for. That is why I don't use download servicese like iTunes, because it's (for the most part) super DRM'd, and not *really* something that you actually own.If I'm paying for music, then I want to have something to show for it. Plus you sometimes get nice freebies! ;)Main factor though is that I just can't afford it. I can't afford to go out and buy a CD that I may not like anyway, so I at least try and listen one way or another first before I make a purchase decision.
