There’s a guy today, surveying or mapping out the whole of the saw alive path from tacotaria to the saw plaza.

Assuming this is for a plan for a FN maze or zone. It could possibly be for a ride, but assuming it’s the former

I think Jack Silkstone confirmed in a video they are turning the area into a picnic area so It'd be that I'm guessing

edit: uness that's already happened for this season? I haven't seen to know 😛

One thing which I think Thorpe should consider is turning Stealth's top hat upside down.

I'm being deadly serious here. Though no doubt very difficult and rather costly, I'm sure it's not outside the realm of possibility, and within a similar budget to some of the park's other crazy investments.

But from a marketing standpoint, it's an absolute win. You get a new ride experience to market. You get a world record of the highest upside moment on a roller coaster - a meaningless record, but something a lot of people would lap up. You can do a mrawS with it, and if/when the novelty wears off and they lose the record, change the track back.

And from a ride experience point, it's pretty damn good too. Inverted top hats are fun. And hanging upside down at 200ft would be great. The view you get at the top of Stealth is decent, but nothing to exactly scream about.

So yes, it's a crazy idea which is partially inspired by the park's philosophy of world records and instant returns. But I genuinely reckon Thorpe should look down that route and do it if it's possible.

you'd need new supports which would defeat the whole reason it got a minimal support structure

you'd probably need the radius to be wider to fit the train on the inside of the track

I'm pretty certain it couldn't physically happen without tearing down most of the track and changing the launch power etc at which point they might as well start a new coaster from scratch

This makes the large two-faced theming object make sense - so as the train flies through, the people going forwards will see the human face and the people going backwards will see the ram's face.

I think the train goes through the structure more than once from different directions already so that can explain the 2 sides

First post since March, wtf has happened to Alton Towers interest of late?!

I've assumed it's because no one posts the sw8 updates here so everyone follows it on other forums

It's going to be an immense disappointment, can just tell...

Layout wise, seemingly uninspiring compared to what many other parks (big and small) are getting... The theme choice once again causes confusion in the whole "but whyyyyyy?" category, why not theme it to Pirates (no the ride is not going into Gloomy Wood, look at the plans above)? Assuming this has the rumoured launched lift, you'd be questioning that too given Lightning Rod's issues... And god if we have more marketing regarding a shed's insides I might have to travel to Poole and personally knock heads together...

Gonna be as themed as Smiler, 1 massive element (which is positioned at a daft angle for photo ops) and a partially themed building...

If only they'd used the entire Flume site, then I'd be more invested...

All we know relating to the theme is that there's a big wicker looking statue and the rumoured name being Wickerman? We literally have no idea that the theme wont fit in..

Isn't the name rumour because they trademarked 'Wickerman' or something? Didn't they also do that with 'The Marmeliser'?

Also I think lightning rod's launch issues was because they used some alternative upcoming company's technology instead of a trusted and proven one

Does 13 provide good airtime or are they trimmed too much?

If you sit right at the back it does have a few (only slightly but still pretty fun)

Merlin probably make more in a day than it cost to build Loggers Leap in the first place. I can't believe that they have a ride SBNO which isn't exactly completely hidden, it's a rather poor show. But as I've said before, it probably requires similar work to Dragon Falls which was quite significant, I suppose they had no choice to sort out Dragon Falls as soon as possible due to it's prominent position in the park and that's a core ride, not so much with Loggers Leap. I guess they're weighing up options and deciding which years budget it's going to come out of.

To be fair it's probs the most hidden in the park, in the now most likely least visited in the park :P but still that's no excuse..

Odd how they've added 2 kids rides right next door and not done anything with loggers as it's right in their path

Sorry to bump this topic but I have a really strange question and I was wondering if anyone here might be able to help me out?

I just stumbled across this video on you tube somehow and noticed it uses part of the Colossus theme but instead has a guy rapping over it. Does anyone know if Thorpe Park commissioned the song originally, or is the version in this video the original?

When I googled the lyrics nothing showed up which was quite strange and also leads me to believe that the guy raping must have used the Thorpe version as a sample. Is anyone able to clear this up for me?

it's possible both whoever made that song and whoever made Colosus' theme tune used the same royalty free music/samples

edit: actually I'm pretty sure that's exactly what happened listening to both versions, they both probs got the horn section as a sample

    (something like this)

Wouldn't say there's any hate for this, just questions about the point of it when it's about 10 years too late for anyone to actually care about...

If it was say a Formula Rossa or Flying Aces clone I'm sure there would be a lot more excitement... As it is, a slightly bigger version of Stealth that isn't as big as the American duo just isn't THAT interesting...

Just like stealth was a clone of kingda ka but half the height..  This thing is like 350ft right? That's still pretty cool, especially for people less likely to be able to get out to the US parks

  10. I'm no doctor but surely it was probably caused by an underlying issue triggered by the ride, in which case disney are in no way responsible and refusing the 30k will probably backfire when the medical exam proves it?

I mean unless it's happened to any of the other millions of riders :P It seems odd that they even paid out

  11. Wonder what IP.. Could we see a Rings maze? It's something I could imagine the most at TP even though the film looks awful

(I disagree though, cabin in the woods was awful compared to their other hands-on-shoulder mazes purely because it was freeflow imo)

I think that Thorpe's previous mazes (especially Asylum, E10, Hellgate) were far better than the ones they have now, but that's just my opinion.

    Agree 100%

FN had such a stronger atmosphere back then as well (imo) Especially with all their soundtracks
