  1. Yes and no, if you made evac points at all the known stall points, it would make life easier for the occupants who have to be evac'd in strange situations, would instill confidence in the GP (often the mere sight of changes is more comforting than it's actual usefulness), and would generally help reputation. However this needs to the balanced with those people who like to hang their arms out of the cars as they go round so that they don't hit their arms on the evac platforms as they pass, cos a traumatic amputation would not help anybody. ------------- About the girl, it is unfortunate and I do feel sorry for her, but I do hope they (as in the news and GP), leave them alone and the family themselves don't dwell on the negatives too much, she is still alive after all. You've probably gathered from my previous post that I'm a big motor sport fan and there was this guy called Alex Zanardi who had both his legs sliced off in an accident in Germany many years ago, instead of dwelling on things, he was the complete oppersite and greatful that he was still alive, he has prosthetic legs, walks mostly unaided, has returned to racing, won races and won multiple gold medals at the last Paralympics, I hope someone points this girl in Alex's direction to show her, her life is not over and she can still achieve so much if she wants to.
  2. Especially when it rains around lunchtime.
  3. Rush went over 90 when we were on it last week, but as soon as it did the ride was over, we only swung about 5 times, didn't seem that long of a ride tbh.

Cynical side of me says it's because the ride is in the dark, GP can't see the other car, so no need to make a big deal over it, unlike the other rides which are clearly visible from off ride as multi-car rides. But that's jus the cynical side of me, I doubt that's the reason lol.

I think it depends if the person takes an interest in what's going on, how the rides work, or whether it's 'just something to do'. I'd hazard a guess that 95% of of visitors to a parks fall into the latter category.
  6. I suspect all the smiler branding has been removed from the resort already. These events will only affect those too lazy, or stupid to make an informed decision themselves.
  7. You would think so, but isn't the Smiler essentially two tracks together? So would protocol be back to the station, or past the second lift hill at the midway station? I've often wondered just how long you could make a coaster, if you have four or five lift hills in it.
  8. They need attenuators on the front and rear of the carriages, not the electronics type, there's another type they used in Indycars a few years ago, the result was after they fitted them, nobody has been paralised since. I won't bore you with a technical explanation of how they work, but this type of device would be a great quick fix., and they're realitively light, so shouldn't compromise speed.

When we went on it last Sunday the ride host stood at the side before checking the restraints and shouted 'Listen very carefully, I'm only going to say this once, I'm now going to check all your restraints, please pull your legs in now, I'm not small and believe me, you really don't want me falling on you while you're locked in that seat'. The first part got a laugh from everybody over 40, the second part made the ride shake as everybody collectively pulled their legs back in anticipation
  10. Some people are too self entitled. My neighbour is that type of person, if they were a MAP holder, they would be demanding compensation. I'm sure if someone did the maths and factored in the attendance figures with those accident stats, the percentage rate would be tiny, probably less than 0.5%, of course that wouldn't make good headlines - my local swimming pool has had just as many accidents and they have far less visitors. You would have thought so wouldn't you? But, and I really hate to use this example, but assumptions like that may well have led to the accident in the first place. In as much as you'd expect them to know (they do now if nothing else), I've often found over the years that 'those that should know' often don't.
  11. Lorikeet Lagoon - is that the walk through thing that's just down from Kobra with it's entrance on the left side just past the indoor play area? If so that's been shut every time we've been the year, and we've been about 8 or 9 times now.
  12. Doubtful, the entire group only bought in £3.5m a day in 2014 (based on 1.25billion revenue divided by 365), so there's some funky accounts going on if Alton Towers being closed on an off-peak day is loosing them £12m each day now.
  13. We should probably agree to disagree Will, so I'll keep this brief and to the point, there we go Are MAP holders really asking for extensions? Oh my some people need a lesson in perspective there me thinks.
  14. They're not interested in factual reporting interesting stuff like who designed the coaster or who built it, Merlin operate it, so big bad buck stops with them as far as MSM are concerned. (MSM = main stream media), if they were they'd have picked up on Saw on Wednesday.
  15. What Merlin should have done was run those rides on ultra low capacity, even yesterday they had very short queues. We often take mini-me to Cheesy after school and the place is more often than not completely empty. It shows what little they know of the industry that it's taken them three days to realise Saw is closed and isthe same manufacturer.
  16. If you decide to complain to OFCOM don't just write Kay Burley sucks, put down all the things listed here in a coherient manner and then maybe she will change her tune in the future. These people often get away with it because nobody complains, everybody assumes someone else has and the complaints have either been ignored or worst still, they find this style of interviewing to be entertaining, like it's some sort of perverted big brother style TV show, it's no wonder we have a generation of people who treat people with such disrespect when we have television presenters, who in many cases are looked up to as some sort of folk hero, acting this way.
  17. He didn't, he said something about improving procedures and then she accused him of it, but he didn't have chance to rebut her before she'd gone on to the next question talking over him. It's an old legal thing, 'claims not rebutted are taken to be accepted', so they will now use that to justify the headline. Which as we all know is horse ****.
  18. Re: complaints: http://consumers.ofcom.org.uk/complain/tv-and-radio-complaints/ https://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/tell-us/webflow/broadcast-complaints/
  19. LOL so do I take it you agreed with the way she interviewed him?Interview implies asking a question, get the answer, then ask another, either related or not, she didn't let him finish one sentence and quiet often interrupted him before he'd even started talking. She is a repulsive, fear mongering hack undeserving of her position, nothing more. If that makes me insensitive, guilty as charged.
  20. Yeah, I know of people who won't do interviews with her anymore, her reputation precedes her that much nowadays. It's not just her though, the entire Sky operation is pretty much hated by the people they work with, they all have the same attitude.
  21. Let's just say she is not well liked within the industry, including colleagues.
  22. Very, she's an attention whore who got punched in the face by a colleague because he got so angry with her a few years ago.Sky have quiet a reputation for being like this, don't forget they accused someone of murder on live TV only to find later he was 100% innocent and 100 miles away at the time, they also hounded a twitter user, stalking her to the point that she topped herself, he did very well to say calm with her, should have gone to the BBC instead.
  23. Kay Burley is such a bitch, no wonder Frank Partridge smacked her one.
  24. To make matters worse Kobra is also out of action at Chessington, so that's three main rides off limits there.
