  1. That thing is an ugly blight on the brighton skyline. I have a feeling the clue to the theme is hiding in plain sight, maybe that eye is from a picture or poster. hmmmm, the building isn't going to be as huge as people think and my eye is drawn to that tunnel being the main ride area. I don't think it is a coaster, and as much as I pray for an oceaneering ride, I just don't see the space, no manufacturer has copped to building something for thorpe yet, this could be as simple as an immersive tunnel, but I think it is something more than that. It is slightly frustrating to not know what is going in that building, hopefully some hardware turns up soon. Thorpe are doing a good job at keeping this thing secret, even with all of the ready access to the web and social media, I for one, am impressed with this because there really is nothing out there to suggest what this is. If Paramount gets built, Merlin will really have to up their game, I am guessing that this is them testing those waters.
  2. Hopefully a motion based simulator attraction, but still don't think merlin would dare spend the money. still thinking its a variant of the immersive tunnel.
  3. Not gonna be about prostitute murder.
  4. No there has not. However, the general consensus seems to be that the GP will only go for IP based dark ride. I am still on the fence here.
  5. Cybermen need human minds ....... just trying to kickstart discussion/speculation again. Everywhere I look the ideas keep coming back to Dr Who, but honestly I am not so sure.
  6. If I was in marketing, the August bank holiday would have been my campaign start point. I would be giving a small bit of hype every few days from there. Then a full reveal and hype during fright nights to get everybody back in 2016. but hey what do I know, just have a degree in business and business management and run my own successful business
  7. Has the tin can got any bigger? I am 99.9% sure it will not be a coaster. They already have a coaster in a pyramid shed. Someone said that vr headsets were on a coaster in Europa park on BBC click, this was pretty cool, but was so much in it's infancy that I can say with a high degree of confidence that we will not be seeing this technology on wc16. It may yet be a screen based shooter like justice league, this is personally what I think is the highest likelyhood behind being a new kind of immersive tunnel.
  8. It was heavily reported online they had bought the towers before planning permission went in for the shed. Sorry I assumed it was common knowledge
  9. I knew 4 ABC drop towers were going in that shed from word go. Anywho, Thorpe Park and BBC present, DRAGON'S DEN : MUTATION. A pitch to the Dragon's goes horribly wrong when you accidentally mutate them into real dragon like creatures. You must escape the warehouse before they take your invention, and your life. Starring Lou Ferignou as peter jones Dame Helen Mirren as Deborah Meaden Gerard Butler as Duncan Bannatyne Omid djalili as Theo Pathitis And John Culshaw as a different 5th Dragon on every ride That is what boredom does to ya I guess!!
  10. They may have lost an IP because the contract may have been provisional and the ride not up to the standard of fhe IP owner. If this is the case then yes the theme has likely changed.
  11. Justice league battle for metropolis is being cloned another two times this year. The animation on that ride is pretty awful, but it is still a really solid looking new take on the shooting dark ride. Perhaps we will see this ride system implemented, it is essentially spiderman with less force ..... and laser guns.
  12. Transformers uses 1 screen to up to 4 show scenes on split levels, with more than 1 car at the same screen, it was a way of utilising space.
  13. Spiderman screens are 9.6 metres in height ...... Just a fun fact for you there.
  14. I agree that after WC16, a large scale family coaster is needed. Also a complete removal of all of the water rides, to be replaced by much better equivalents. Tidal wave is pointless, it is jurassic park river adventure ...... without the river ...... or the adventure, or the dinosaurs, decent theming or fun. Loggers leap is just plain awful now. Rumba rapids is neither exciting or themed. Storm surge ........... enough said there.
  15. Between 1999 and the opening of the wizarding world, Islands of Adventurs installed a family coaster and some teacups. It still held up as one of, if not the best park in the world, because of the perfect balance of big thrill coasters thrilling flat ride (singular) amazing water rides, family and childrens rides and world class dark rides. Thorpe have coasters and aging flats. Plus 3 of the most sorry and dismal water rides on earth. They are trying to be something for everyone and have worked out that coaster investment can only go so far and relate to a certain audience. I hope this dark ride is received well and prompts the park to transform itself into an all round decent theme park that looks aesthetically pleasing and has a good balance of rides for everybody. I take my family to Florida for the theme parks and I want that quality here so that we can compete on the world theme park market.
  16. When shooters are done right, we get Men In Black : Alien Attack.
  17. When I went for a seminar at Thorpe on one of my business courses, I too was made aware that the maintenence team are on site AT LEAST 3 hours before opening every single day.
  18. There must be some indication somewhere online as to who is providing the hardware. Buried deep in the background of some manufacturers website. Time to start digging I think.
  19. Don't get me wrong, if this is not a variant of an immersive tunnel, I am very excited indeed.
  20. I feel sorry for those in the design department. I guarantee what they design is beautiful, fully themed and elaborate. Then corporate step in and refuse to greenlight a budget, so then theming, which in some cases can be more expensive than the ride system, is obviously what is hit first. Then plans like .......... this, get submitted, an awful mish mash of cool looking brick warehouse building, flanked by giant, ugly, pointlessly red, shed. I get that big ugly red shed is all they can afford, but corporate need to stop this cheap as possible in the uk attitude. They wouldn't do this on the continent or in the states, and the reason is lack of competition, Disney and Universal do not operate here so to the majority of uk theme park visitors, there is nothing to compare it to. Not all people get to be as lucky as most of us and get to visit superior theme parks all over the world.
  21. Totally agree with everything said there. To compare this to the best dark rides in the world is totally acceptable, Nick Varney called it a "game changer". In that respect it is comparable.
  22. I really do want this to be a mind blowing dark ride that is heavily themed and thrilling. Then I remember that we live in the UK and that just not get built here, it is sad because dark rides are actually much better than coasters when done RIGHT. This being the final look of this portion of the building, as the plans clearly show, already means that this ride is not done right. A full immersive experience can only be achieved if every aspect from the approach up to the ride and queue line are fully themed, the experience starts long before you board any ride vehicle. The rest of the building has potential, if the plans are stuck to, but if the smiler and its station and missing theming elements are anything to go by, the whole building my end up looking like a giant shed. I really hope that they have something great going in here.
  23. This building has absolutely nowhere near the floorspace or height of spiderman. There is no room in this building for that type of ride system unless it is a 2 minute experience as previously stated. Still hedging my bets on immersive tunnel variant.
  24. Spiderman is indeed over 1 floor. Transformers is over 2, but to give that type of ride, the building would need to be a lot higher to accomodate the massive screens. if we somehow see this type of ride system installed I will literally camp outside the gates to ride it. We will not see it, as even 30 million is too cheap, if that really is the figure.
