  1. I think we all think that this ride is going to be from Simworx. It makes a lot of sense as they likely have a very good working relationship with Merlin, with the imminent order and Installation into at least 6 more Shrek Attractions. They Also did Angry Birds 4D If you are going to use a company for a ride with screens and effects, you are going to stick to what you know, and those who are likely going to give you a discount. Also they are UK Based meaning that liaising with Derren is a hell of a lot easier as he can physically go to Simworx and oversee any video or illusion they are creating for him. I really don't see who else could be manufacturing this thing, I guess we have to wait and see now, but leaks will start to come out I am sure.
  2. High expectations means you are setting yourself up for a fall kiddo. Expect the worst, hope for the best, that is the best possible way not to be let down.
  3. Is it over 2 floors though? Just because you load above ground level does not insist this thing will be over 2 floors. It could easily be a ceiling mounted ride system, or even just a really high ride vehicle. The stark reality is that we have no idea what it is, all we know is, that it is inside a building, and has been created by Derren Brown.
  4. I bother because I have been on rides far superior to anything here in the uk. We have a standard put before us for ride quality by the likes of Disney and Universal. Merlin simply can't be bothered here in the uk, because nothing as awe inspiring as, say, spiderman, forbidden journey, escape from gringotts, Transformers, tower of terror, hell, even pirates of the Caribbean, can be found here. Those are some examples of massively expensive, beautifully themed rides with care and attention to detail to give you the most immersive experience possible. Merlin practically own the entire uk theme park industry, why would they bring that level of ride here, at that kind of money, when they simply don't have to? it sucks but that's the reality.
  5. Merlin are simply too cheap to get an oceaneering ride system. Spiderman style vehicles are around a hundred thousand a piece. God knows the price for the track mounted robocoaster system that forbidden journey utilises. "The concept comes entirely from Derren" ....... Except where we can cut financial corners!!! Bless em.
  6. The one thing that Newspapers should not do is "assume" They supposedly only exist to tell you FACTUALLY, what is going on in the world. The age of informative and objective journalism is well and truly dead. They would prefer to swap informative, important, real life news, for shock Headlines and speculation. They should not be allowed the title Newspaper. They don't really deliver relevance in this day in age and to be honest I am sick of it. Every single time Merlin is mentioned in the Tabloids. They somehow make it all about the smiler crash. Rehash the same photo's, the same victims statements and it is not relevant at all. u Sorry to rant but when your 2 year old demands mickey mouse clubhouse 7 times in a row, you have to blow off some steam somewhere. Back on point, the papers are assuming, which is something they are not supposed to do. Rant over.
  7. All the evidence points to there being no way a coaster can fit in that building, no footers were poured etc. Take it as the latter, and the Metro being what it is. Namely one of the most shameless, unreliable and outright lying Tabloids out there.
  8. I imagine it will employ a lot of "old style" effects. If Derren himself appears at all, I believe it will be in the pre-show and a peppers ghost illusion, instead of a video screen, will be used. I just don't want it to be ABOUT him and a really self obsessed vanity project. Look at Universal Creatives relationship with Spielberg.. He does not litter himself throughout the attractions. I hope Derren is a humble man who has created and directed this thing. I know I said if it is Derren I am out, However, I am very sure it could be the UKs best ride. If it is not a vanity project. The man knows illusions, he knows showmanship, and he is not afraid to tell you how he does it.
  9. When did this accidental leak occur? people removed something from a lot of forums, so I am guessing that was it. But what was it?
  10. If he truly is involved I hope it is in the creative consultant capacity only. Stephen Spielberg is the go to guy for Universal Creative, and his name is not plastered over all their rides.
  11. If it is Derren Brown ..... I'm out.
  12. They simply have no lives. It honestly makes no conceivable sense, you are gonna get hits maybe. But then your credibility is destroyed when people discover you are lying to them. Pointless waste of time.
  13. TPC created bulls###. The spelling is wrong and it would be "world's first" not the grammatically incorrect worlds first that they put on there. Better luck next time.
  14. What if this is a variant on the tunnel concept, hear me out here, this is pure speculation but could explain why you load on an upper floor. You are in suspended seats with screens below and to the sides of you.
  15. It's a bloody immersive tunnel variant. We all know it, and I am the only one who wants to admit it. I wish this was an oceaneering motion based spectacular, or a track mounted robocoaster. But it won't be.
  16. There is no way it is a possibility. For one Disney imagineering would insist on being the sole designers, even if it were not going in a Disney park, Disney have standards. For 2, it is a factory and shed. I hope this is a good ride. *sigh*
  17. I hope if it is simworx, it is a robocoaster. I seem to recall forbidden journey being a tracked robocoaster.
  18. Unfortunately I think it could be simworx.
  19. I am still slightly dumbfounded as to how we still have no idea who is manufacturing this thing. Still applause for keeping everything under wraps. Still extremely frustrated by all of it, but still enjoying the speculation game. Happy Tuesday
  20. I think the comparison is valid. There are people passionate about lots of different things. Companies wil l capitalise on this passion, Sure the scales are different in terms of people it will reach, but the concept is identical.
  21. well let me go back to my star wars merch comparison. I am buying episode 7 Merch whenever I can, I haven't seen the movie, I will be at an Imax midnight screening also. I also remember what a trainwreck episodes 1 through 3 were. so the answer is yes, they would. When people get invested in something they can be quite committed.
  22. Not necessarily. the merch is very nonspecific, and will likely remain that way. I really don't expect a reveal whilst the park is still open for the season. I have about 6 pieces of episode 7 merch and counting and nobody really knows what that movie is about yet. what I am saying there is this, we get excited for something and the wallets come out. And we buy. Thorpe Park are aware of this, so extremely nonspecific wc16 merch has arrived, and we will likely buy it.
  23. The Konami code is used as a pop culture reference these days. Many websites, including Facebook and Google have used it in the past to unlock hidden elements. These Elements have nothing to do with Konami in any way, but that code is burned into the minds of people of my age. Even GTA uses it as a cheat code. As said before, the code and the clown have nothing to do with the attraction, I guarantee it.
  24. I think that countdown must have some extreme significance, maybe a partial announcement. What I don't think, is that they will chuck all their eggs in one basket and reveal everything. They need to keep people interested, and whilst yes this is likely to be a let down, the guessing and secrecy is actually fun. I am still in the "this will have an ip" camp. I don't think Merlin would risk what could very well be their biggest investment, without a surefire hook. These clues are likely not clues at all, and just a distraction.
