Aardman have apparently called time: Wallace and Gromit creators pull out of 'UK's Disneyland'

Is it really the same ride anymore if they completely replace the track? It feels like what you want is a brand new ride with pre-2000 theming, which isn't particularly realistic. The original X was a product of its time and doesn't really have the same mystery in today's high tech environment. Getting a full loop + track inside the pyramid would also be a serious engineering challenge, and utilising it would probably require a powered launch, which again completely changes the ride experience. That's why it makes more sense to just tear it down and start again. The space could be much better utilised.

Station puts me in mind of a graffitied carpark stairwell. Getting flashbacks to some rather unscrupulous activities in which I partook in said locations during my teenage years... perhaps Merlin finally have a lock on their target audience?

If the concept art is an accurate representation of the final product it could give us a clue as to the story of the ride. The sign on the left, "Sanctuary for all, community for all etc etc" references Terminus from the WD franchise, a supposed safezone which actually turns out to be home to a group of cannibals.
