Farewell Mania Hub chat..... until August 30th. I shall return bearing stories and gifts and rainbows.
  2. Fantastic video. Great ride. Can't wait for ours!
  3. Yeah for sure about the land prep, landscaping and general post construction- that takes the longest. It's amazing how many advancements have brought the whole construction industry forward that have enabled to reduce construction times. However I think B&M coasters in general take longer to construct due to their "heavy duty" nature. I'd hazard a guess and say it'll take less time to construct than Inferno though!
  4. I got the impression from the press release and minisite that The Swarm are the aliens as they pick us up and we ride their wings. Paraphrased from the minisite, of course.
  5. You're going to have a facepalm in a minute Benin. It's on the TPM feedback forum. HERE.I wonder if you'll still find an excuse to put yourself in the right though. ;)Banter aside, it should have been discussed in this forum from the beginning, I'll move them over to here seeing as it is a forum issue and not a Thorpe Park Mania one.
  6. Why should people "calm down?" Nobody is really overreacting as far as I can see, just general excitement about a new project that does indeed look awesome and people are congratulating the park on doing everything absolutely on point so far. So far, they have not set a foot wrong in the build up, let's hope it continues.Nobody has wonderful concepts, merely commenting on things we have been told and have seen from the plans. The speculation thread does have some thoughts on potential effects that could be included but isn't that why this discussion forum exists? To have a discussion and to speculate? Everyone enjoy the excitement and talk as much as you like about the ride. I would imagine the brake run will be like how it's shown in this video below.
  7. Just you wait Javs, I predict at least 10 mentions of the ride being a 4D on here between now and ride opening.
  8. I think we'll see some of those water skim effects on The Swarm as seen on Raptor and Manta. You can see Raptor's below from about 30 seconds in.
  9. From Thorpe's Facebook Page: It's probably not the most shocking news, but it's great to see it confirmed. Who's planning on going this year then?

Afternoon guys,Now that more details for LC12: The Swarm have been released and are likely to be getting more as the weeks and months go by, we would like to re-affirm the difference between the two discussion topics dedicated to the new project. This is two help us keep on top of our moderating and to help you guys keep track of what is being discussed.LC12 Updates: The Swarm- this thread is for discussion about any updates we receive such as construction, press statements and anything factual. Speculating about ideas or opinions of the future attraction is not to be posted here.Lc12: Speculation and Theories, however, is where you post if it's something that is speculating what we do not know about the ride. This includes ideas about special effects, themeing, operations... ect.As construction continues, things will get pretty hectic in this sub-forum; as we have reminded you of the two separate threads and their purpose we ask that you please respect this to help us to provide a clear way of presenting discussion.Enjoy the run up to the opening of the ride, it's not too often that we get such exciting times.Best Wishes,Sheepie and the Mania Hub Team.
  11. Please take extra care to look for existing threads before posting new ones. We can understand minor mistakes but I would say that the LC12 sub-forum and relevant topics were pretty easy to find.
  12. You didn't know if there was a thread already when there is an entire sub-forum dedicated to it? Hmm Merged with existing thread.
  13. Sounds good Marc. Cheers for that.
  14. I did have a rather long rant here but I have decided to be the adult. That post you made Holly says more about you than you realise.
  15. Oh hello barbed wire on the construction fence by Stealth. :rolleyes:Why is there Asylum's sound loop playing in the area in that video?
  16. I think it's more just discussion on the facts that we have so far. I would hope that it's an original concept that doesn't involve any sort of film/ game tie-in. However, people are simply bringing lots of different points together. For instance, the concept art showing the trains does has a resemblance to the Starcraft image posted. Even if this has nothing to do with the game, it could be possible that the image itself was an inspiration to the designers when creating the style of the train. Also, there is a film coming out next year, by the same name of this ride, which shares similar things with the ride, such as a destruction of an air base (I'm paraphrasing, I'm afraid) and general urban devastation. It could very well not have anything to do with any intellectual properties, which I think would be better, however people are just summarizing their thoughts and are commenting on the news we have received today.
  17. A list of missing people- setting up a backstory/ potential future competition for fans. I find the "Dev Diary" much more interesting though. Construction updates!
  18. It's from a game. Starcraft 2- Heart of the Swarm. They may have taken inspiration from this for their graphics. I'm hoping with all my will that this isn't another intellectual property investment. There are however, too many coincidences between a remake of the film, The Swarm coming out next year and also the film description posted on a previous page does link very closely to the scenic elements to the ride.
  19. Look at both of these images. Phill posted the first one, the second being the concept art. Slightly similar? Also the film description mentions attacking an air force base. This is beginning to fit all rather too well.
  20. Indeed. With the name though. I reminds me of Sci-fi films and shows where the human race comes up with some kind of name for the aliens. For example in Falling Skies, they're called The Walkers. The Swarm I would imagine is a name made up for the aliens within the story of the ride.
  21. Having not seen the film, I have no idea what the film is about really. Would we not know about the film by now though? I've sort of got a feeling that this isn't going to be involved with any kind of intellectual property.
  22. Well Thorpe's version doesn't exist yet, Raptor is the only other B&M wingrider.... so why wouldn't they use it? The concept art is also the same as Raptor with changed car graphics and background images.
  23. You've got to love a bit of Mutant Racers theme. ;)Nice video, loving the (as far as we know) original theme and lack of IP. They've got an opportunity to do something really special here. :rolleyes:Also, THE SWARM is probably the name of the alien race and I can imagine lots of references to it during the attraction/ area.

Currently playing cyber, "I Have Never...." on chat. We know how to live here guys!
  25. Just a small thing, Inferno and Saw (exception of windmill) actually turned out as planned. It is a common misconception that Inferno's volcano was unfinished due to budgetary reasons during construction. Yes, it's not complete and this is to save on money, but it was actually planned to be like this before construction started. Saw just had concept art which is meant to convey the overall style and mood of the attraction with a basic style of scenic elements. I believe they had planned to have the Saw franchise from very early on in the planning stages.Things change in the planning process, not always for budgetary reasons and this happens with every single project in every single working sector all over the world. However, we just have access to the planning information so we notice such changes.
