Wow what a wide spread worm. If you had done your research properly, you would find the user has to download the file, un-package it, enter his/her password and then instal it. Macs since Leopard come with auto opening off. Even then you have to enter your damn password, and I don't think anyone with a Mac is stupid enough to instal something called "INSTALL" and having no idea where it came from. OH LOOK A DMG FILE BETTER INSTALL IT. DOH.Tell me when there is a real worm like windows, that does it all in the background, without you even noticing or any user interception.

Did you read anything I just bloody said? There was a whole a group of hackers, trying to break into OS X. Apple is even known to PAY PEOPLE TO HACK OS X to find flaws. Imagine if a virus got on on to Mac OS X, think of how famous it would be 'The first Mac virus', who wouldn't want that fame and recognition? People try, people fail.

So because it isn't like Windows that annoyed you? Wow. Hmm, so I could open a program by going to Start > All Programs > Developer Name > Program. Or I could hit Space Bar and type the first letter of that program and hit return for it to open. Or I could put my used apps at the bottom in a dock, so I have one click access. Or I could have a stack, two click acess. Or I could just open my apps folder.Guess which one isn't the Mac way?

So your comparing an iPod with just under 32mb of RAM to a full blown OSX operating system? Right.I have used Vista, numerous times nows, my friends, some at school, and I downloaded it to try just for s**ts and giggles. My friends place we had to wait ages before it had finished loading everything up, virus and maleware software. School programs would hang. And for my self, the response time was terrible, I had to autohrize everything I did, I couldn't use AREO cos my computer doesn't have 1000GB of RAM. If I turned off the authorization alerts, I'm completely defenseless. So it's either get pestered with authorization, or pestered with Viruses. What a choice. Your PC isn't virus riddled because you have had to instal software to protect you, you have to authorize your every move. Mac, I don't have to do any of that. And I freak'in hate it when people say "ITS BECAUSE IT HAS SMALL MARKET SHARE" oh yeah really? Guess what, it isnt. Numerous times now people have tried, and the most they have come up with is something that causes VLC (a 3rd party program, not made by apple) to open Safari. Wow. Mac OSX has rock solid security, not because it has a small market share.

Wow what a well educated and valid argument Seb.You stick to your virus riddled PC which is crippled upon start up as your virus software boots into action. I don't care what you use, I use a Mac, I don't play games, If I did I just restart and boot into windows. Mac is for me, it might not be for you, thats cool, but don't call something stupid when you have never used it for more than three seconds.Vista look and acts horrific, and I have had the 'pleasure' of using it. You forget I have used Windows for 5 years before switching, 2000 and XP, and I can honestly say I am never going back. Everything is intuitive on the Mac, its so well designed and thought-out, the detail is stunning. Really, don't slag something of you havn't used. And base level what? Macs start at £399

Not been over hyped at all... If something is announced 'WORLDS THINNEST' its gonna get media attention, despite what the brand is.

Marc, Fanboyism has nothing to do with it. It's a sub notebook, its a big market, Apple wants a bit of it, they bring out a superior product compared to other SUB NOTE BOOKS, and its CHEAPER, how is that a bad thing?
  9. I'm gonna sit Detonator out, for the obvious reasons.

As I have said before , there is a market for it, the Sub Note Book market. Sony and Toshiba all have sub notebooks, but there more expensive, thicker, and lower specs. Apple has brought out cheaper, thinner, and higher spec. People like business execs refresh their laptop every year, if it means its less to cary around they will get it in a heartbeat. I consider my self a 'die hard' fan, and I have no intention of getting one, because I don't need Sub Notebook, so you opinion is horrible biased, as well as a little assumptious.

Blu Ray is shaping up to be the winner of the format wars with most studios now behind it and going exclusive with it. And with Apple doing movie rentals with EVERY studio its going to be a big hit, I'm sure. How often do you watch the same movie? Every year for me. Apple rentals are perfect, their cheap, can watch within 30 seconds, stays on your computer for 30 days, and have 24 hours to watch it. Good deal to me. Bring it the UK plz.

Small share of the market? Are you mad? There were more downloads of songs then physical CD sells of songs last year. Why do you think downloads are included in the charts? The CD is dead. Taking its place will be Blu Ray, give it a few years after that and then I bet my money that everything will be done online. It makes economical as well as practical sense.

Nope.. I buy my music online... and if you must know, they have started selling Music on flash based drives.

Oh yeah defiantly, I don't think the CD has long left at all. I mean if you have seen the keynote, Steve says why they haven't included it, because we just wont use them that much. Movies can now be downloaded, we dont burn discs for car, cos we have iPod connectivity, we upload to share our photos, movies, etc. My thoughts on computing in the years to come is that everything will synced and available from everywhere. So say I log on at school, it will be just as if I had logged on at home, sort of thing. Least that's what I think. And Peter, when you say the MacBook air lets people down people, who? It's a completely different market they have entered, the Sub NoteBook market. For travelers and road whores its perfect, they dont want to lug around a fat ass laptop. Everyone is bitching about the fact it doesn't have 500 hundred ports for their pritner, scanners and vibrators. It's meant for on the go, not as your main computer. And I can bet we'll see apple release a dock for this, slide into the side some kind of screen, and like that you have a full blown computer. Another thing people are let down by is the price, for what your essentially getting. Any idea of the engineering that went into this thing? They had to ask Intel to shrink down their Core DUO chips to a size of a penny. Not to mention the mother board and hard drive, heck I bet the Solid State memory is half of that cost. So to conclude, they have their MacBook line for average joe like me and you, Pro line for photoshop / power hungry users, and finally their new Air line for road whore who want ultra portability and wireless. Makes sense? And while we're on the subject of things that wont be around for long, I think the mouse will be next to go.

Others things anounced this Mac World are:- Time Capsule (Wirless storage for Time Machine)- iPhone Update (Location on Google Maps, Home Screen Improvment, Multiple MMS , etc)- Movie Rentals (Not for the damn Uk though)- New Apple Tv software (For Movie Rentals, Flickr, etc)- iPod Touch Extra Apps (Mail, Maps, Notes, etc. But for a price, which sucks a lot, but I can see the reason behind it, £12.99 though, sheesh.)Thoughts on it all? I think the MacBook Air is great as a piece of design, but for me personally, the functionality isn't there. Don't get me wrong, ITS GREAT, but I don't really need something that thin, as I don't travel that much, but for someone who does I'm sure they'll love it. Apple TV Take 2 looks good, when movie rentals come to the UK I'll certainly consider one.And iPod Touch extra apps... I'm disappointed. I know they have to make their money back some how, what with the free updates for Apple Tv, iPhone, etc, but this could have been done for free, since its just taken from the iPhone. I was really looking foward to this and being able upgrade and not have to hack the s**t out of my iPod.Time Capsule, when I get Leopard I will poberly fork out for one, as I don't have any back ups.Soo urr yeah my thoughts (Y).

Haha nah there the same as the iMac design! Black and Silver. Nice there keeping it all the same design, and plus it looks buff when it lights up, phoawr. I was expecting them to update the MacBooks though.

Mac World starts today with Steve's Key Note starting at 5:00. My favorite Mac time of the year, haha ;)So last year we got the iPhone, any bets for this year? My money is on:- Ultra Portable MacBook- iPhone SDK- iTunes Update- Movie Rentals- One more thing. This years clue is "There's something in the air", last years was "We need to talk" (iPhone), and year before was "Life is Random" (iPod Shuffle). Hmm how cryptic! Bingo cards at the ready...
