  1. I agree, Amity Cove and Canada Creek are some of the most cheerful places in the park, although I do feel that some areas of the park need to be intimidating and build up suspense, just to make that contrast. I do feel however that Calypso Quay could do with some great 'feel-good' caribbean themed music (such as around the area of Cariba Creek) and that would really help to bring the area alive. I often see people singing or miming along to the amity cove soundtrack as they walk through, which just seems to bring the area alive - the fact that the music interacts with guests and creates a more enjoyable experience for everyone. Like I said, I do like some of the rides to have dark, intimidating themes that build suspense (such as Colossus for example). But you're right, the majority of people standing in a 2 hour queue having to listen to the same 10 minute loop played over and over again just end up wanting to smash the speakers. I have to admit, after hearing it through twice in one go, that's enough.

  2. I actually much prefer the area as it looks today. I love the plants / shrubbery that cover the section of track featured in picture one of the above post, and the ride seems to look a lot more themed and less generic. Although I quite like the rockery covering the lift hill supports, I do agree that it looks a bit cheap, and I feel that the buddha structure has a lot more presence in the area when it isn't surrounding by the bulky rockery.

  3. I applied for Chessington during the summer earlier this year, but got turned down due to my availability. My availability is now a lot greater, but there aren't any job adverts! How frustrating! :P

  4. I know exactly how you feel. I had pretty much an identical problem last year. Also it's kind of the same for me sometimes, it's not that I won't go on all the big rides because I do and I enjoy them, but it's more of a case that I've done them all so many times before, I would rather go to somewhere like Chessington where the overall experience (with theming etc) is so much better. In response to my friends' comments 'Chessington is rubbish, there aren't any good rides there', I always spark off into my little 'a ride doesn't have to be so intense to be a good ride...'. No one agrees with me though unfortunately.Anyway that's Chessington which I can't get to because of no-one wanting to go. My second rant is Alton Towers. I haven't been there in 6 years, and I can't literally explain how much I want to go there again. But, I know it's almost a waste of time trying to get everything done in one day in the summer holidays, plus it takes 4 hours each way to get there. The trains are so expensive, and none of my family want to go there so I'm not going to get up there that way. I was going to go with friends but it's going to be so expensive, no one can afford it.So it looks like I'm stuck with going to Thorpe over and over for now. The only thing that would make my theme park situation better is if I was able to get a summer job in R&A. I'm just waiting for the advert to come up now. :/

  5. It's going to make people more vulnerable being in small groups :D

But vulnerable to what? Okay yes more vulnerable to single offenders but it should hopefully sort out the gang problems
  6. It's so annoying that 99% of my friends adopt the opinion 'Chessington is sh*te we're not going there!'. All they want to do is go to Thorpe over and over, but frankly I'm a little bored of it now. I really wish I could go to Chessington, I would have gone over and over by now but finding someone to go with has been literally impossible.

  7. If it ever does get a revamp, I doubt it will be a great enough revamp to completely change all of your opinions on the ride, Thorpe Park aren't going to waste that kind of money on improving a rapids ride, simply due to the target market. Chessington for example, would be far more inclined to spend the money to drastically improve a ride like that.

  8. I doubt the park are going to make drastic improvements if any, they haven't really got the money to be wasting on refurbishing a rapids ride, when they could be investing in new attractions for the 'thrill seeker' market. Anyway, I don't have a problem with the ride as it is. Yes it could do with a good clean up and every thing could be brought to live with a lick of paint, but I'm not complaining about the current state the ride's in. I like the soundtrack, and generally the ride remains to please most guests.
