  1. It's a good point about the members thing. Maybe before organising a trip the admin team could discuss who is going and sort out who is going to be a leader for that trip (I.e.: actually formally establish a leader or two); someone that is going to lead the trip, be responsible for everyone having a great time etc. This would solve the problem of there not being any authority on the trip at least. Perhaps include it on the post briefing so that everyone knows who they can go to for problems, or just a chat etc, for example:Thorpe Park Meet-UpSunday 30th May 2010Day Hosts: Marc, Ian etc If no one in the team wants to 'lead' the trip, then it won't happen, because frankly, if no one is happy to take responsibility in leading the group, then it's not going to work.

  2. Okay, I've never been to a TPM meet-up, but I'll tell you what I would expect from any meet up. 1. Everyone is made to feel welcome, trip leaders should introduce themselves to new members and help them mix with the group. 2. If everyone isn't going to stay together, the trip leader/s should give clear information to everyone about what is happening rather than just walking off. 3. Everyone should ideally stay together. What's the point in arranging a meet-up to just take a photo, chat for 5 minutes and then leave again? The point of arranging a day meet-up is to mix and meet with new people, spend the day together and enjoy the park as a community, rather than in small groups that could happen any day of the year. I've led a few trips in the past before, and it is completely the trip organiser/trip leader's responsibility to make sure that all of the above happen. If there's no authority in the group, it's just not going to work. Simple.

  3. Does anyone know how old you have to be stay in either this hotel or Splash Landings? My friends and I were looking at going to Alton Towers in the summer, but by the time we've got up there, 1 day isn't really going to be enough to do the park well and Cariba Creek. In other words, would it be possible for 4 16 year olds to online book and stay in a room unaccompanied by anyone older?

  4. It annoys me ride after ride how much X:/ is just being wasted run in it's current state. The concept is fantastic and different to anything else in the park, and with a great deal of work on theming the ride could be so much unbelievably better. Riding it at the moment just irritates me that the theming is pretty much non-existant. Such a waste.

  5. I currently have a huge stack of about 40 vouchers valid until the end of the year that my parents have got through various shops and papers. I don't need them, but it's great to have a stack there for friends who haven't got an annual pass.

  6. Had a nice day today, just a few things that made the day a good start to the '10 season. It's a nice to see a generally clean, tidier looking park. The sign repaints have done justice to cleaning up the park's general image, and everything looks a lot more pleasant and how it should. On the whole the sound system was working well, with the exception of many dodgy volume changes around Lost City throughout the day. Amity Cove was as bright and beautiful as ever. Ride availability was great, with a full ride line-up at most points during the day. The only breakdowns I experienced were Stealth and Detonator, both of which were very minor breakdowns. The park was buzzing, and it's great to see that the 'no-smoking' in queuelines seems to be more carefully watched this season, as especially in the Stealth and Nemesis queues, many people were caught out before they even lit their cigerette. It's so much nicer to have a completely clean, non-smoking queue line. It was nice to see the very small details, such as the Colossus station exterior being cleaned of all scratchings and etchings over the closed season. Small details like that really make the difference for me. I absolutely despised the use of chart music at the entrance today, it really took a lot of atmosphere away for me. On the other hand, it does appeal more to the target market, and it did generally seem to work in the entrance, as much as I hated it. The shark in KFC Amity was great, just a small touch but I loved it. Again, mist on Inferno was a very nice touch to the ride. Generally, a great day. It's nice to see the park opening it's gates to a new season on such a high, and I hope the rest of the season continues in the same way.

  7. Missed out the maze on my trip today. Although I'd love to check out the theming, 60 minutes is just too long to wait for a maze. I'll check it out somepoint soon, hopefully on my trip next week. Then again, if the queues are anything like they were today, I can wait longer.

  8. Just to give an idea of the breakdown count today, I was in the Stealth queue for 80 minutes during which time it suffered 6, yes 6 technical faults. However, the team were working well and each breakdown lasted a maximum of 10 minutes.

  9. :D

I was let down and really am dissapointed that marketing has to lie to the general public.

Obviously it's all your opinion so no one can question that, but I have to say I've never read such a negative trip report as yours above. The marketing hasn't lied to the public, technically it does have a large amount of thrill rides, and it just boils down to the fact that you didn't find them thrilling.
  10. I have just applied for my first ever job - A weekend job at my Church's bookshop... I'm pretty excited about it, seeing as its my first job. Its always the little things in life that make us happy!

Bless, I can assure you that the novelty of working will soon ware off.
  11. I'm in school everyday until 5:30. It's painful. I'm exhausted. I want to cry please.

I feel some of your pain. I've been in school until 6pm 2 nights this week, and tomorrow it's 7pm for a drama rehearsal.
  12. Not the only one doing French and Spanish GCSE, it's stressful doing two languages.

I know! It annoys me when people in my year complain about all the learning they've got to do, and they're only taking one language! They have no idea how easy they've got it in the next few weeks.
  13. Anyway, I'm getting quite stressed recently about my GCSE's. I should be doing revision but its very hard to get started...and revision isn't like lessons either, I have to somehow figure out a way of learning on my own.

That's so true. I didn't realise how hard independent revision is until recently. Like you say, it's not so much doing the revision, it's getting started that's the problem!Got my GCSE French and Spanish Speaking Exams next week :/.
  14. I feel incredibly selfish sometimes. I was reading in a magazine yesterday how this woman's best friend is in a coma and is pretty much brain dead. There's a good chance she's never going to recover. She has a young girl and a husband, it must be heart breaking for them because they're never going to get the person they love back. And then there's me bitching about something that can't compare to that in a million years. There are people who have no home, no food and no family and there's me complaining about about feeling a tiny bit sick. Urgh I really need a slap sometimes :/

Don't worry about it, you're not being selfish. I would explain my opinion but it would take too long! :) Don't worry though, if you say that you're selfish, that means most people are selfish. Which isn't true at heart.
