There's loads of rumors around Rita though. I recall once Camelot claiming they sold it to Towers because it didn't fit (was in a news article).Rita was meant to be the family launch coaster. Stealth was the daddy. But to be fair, if you go on Rita before Stealth it's still quite an experience. Rita was first for me, and Stealth second. Yes Stealth is superior but I like Rita for it's airtime

May was my first ride on it as you might recall from earlier in this topic. And it did on one occasion struggle to park, but I thought It'd be on manual mode? I presume it can't so it was on a crap cycle. But one thing that was noticeable was it wasn't weight balanced. One one arm you had a group of fairly big women, and then a group of much thinner people on another. I mention this because I recall when I went to first go on it, first thing in the morning (Nerves, plus morning I felt brave) they said we'd have to wait because it has to be weight balanced with at least twenty people / four arms filled as close to equally as possible before they can run it.But yeah, it did have parking issues. Still, not as bad as Bling at Pleasure Beach Blackpool. 9 times out of 10 it wont park. Just swing it back and forth for ages. I'm not talking like a minute here, I'm on about a minute. Stop for twenty seconds, another minute, stop for twenty seconds. Especially when it's as bad as Samurai. Instead of lifting it's got a drop floor, so the gap between the ground and you on Bling is huge in comparison

If I'm going to put up with a bit of rough, I can take it up to SAW's standard, or even the back seat of Stealth (I find it whacks my neck as it yarks over the top hat) - for me I'll travel down from Blackpool for Thorpe, do Colossus once on my trip (which lasts on average three days) and fluff it off for the rest.

Blimey! Its bad enough when your normally sat on it "Three, two, one..."On Sunday the restraints decided to shut themselves as people were getting off, trapping some people half in and half out of the seat and clonking quite a few on the head - looked painful! They had to use a battery pack to release them. Guess something must have tripped and the restraints fail-safed into the locked position.

What I'm trying to say is I witnessed Thorpe staff taking them down; wearing rubber gloves and spraying some liquid on them and using a scraper before scrunching them up and sticking them in a bin liner. I asked if I could have one and they said no - but they were being binned. It was as if they'd OTT'd with them or something. The ones of the Amity Cove sign have progressively disappeared. Most probably due to people trying to tear them off...

They were doing it all last week. Samurai was doing it, Fish, Tidal staff, and Nemesis Inferno were to make announcements instead of PA's.I think some rides were having audio problems yesterday, the flying fish had no pa system all the guy was using a megaphone
Agreed. There is that one random point is bloody loud - thankfully I haven't had to queue that bit yet with the new music @holtjammy16 - I wishThe one negative point about the new music is the fact when your in the queue it is to loud to bear in some areas, putting your hands over your ears is the only option.

Think you misread Dano's post. He was taking the mickey, saying it can't be too bad unless the chain snaps and the thing rolls down the hill backwards. Like a "OMG WTF THIS IS A FREAK SITUATION" scenarioThats what I thought :?

Just a quick point I haven't seen mentioned; last Thursday (9th May) a lot of the LC12: Uncover the truth stickers were being taken down by PR & Marketing. Spotted removing from Colossus supports and Stealth supports; easiest ones noticed now missing though are Amity Cove's sign near Rush, and the Colossus disabled entrance sign by the shop.

It was open all three days I was at Thorpe Park. I admit it's a slow spin, but I thoroughly enjoyed it all the same. Had lots of head dives on it which I wasn't expectingLast I heard it was open. To avoid the disappointment if it is closed, Topbuzz 2, an ultimately better run, more thrilling and better looking top-scan is currently in \Epsom this weekend.
-
Anybody know is Sammy's back open yet; and if its having a lot of downtime lately? I'm at Thorpe Monday-Wednesday, and I've never been on Samurai (it was closed earlier this year when I went) so I really wanna go on it

Looks better than Pleasure Beach's Tetley Tea Cups on the plus side...I vaguely remember it from a few years back without the Tetley on it; and I also agree it was better prior sponsorship. But in my view, it's still the same ride. Still fun. Still spins faster than Maurader's (or I can spin it faster) so I'm happy whatever it's sponsored by. Could be sponsored by Mr Kipling and be called "The Viennese Whirls" and I wouldn't mind too much. Yeah it ruins the theme a bit, but as long as Stealth doesn't get painted red and blue and sponsored by Pepsi Max it's only small scale. I mean who'd be stupid enough to do that to a ride anyway? Oh waitI would really love to know why Merlin feel the need to receive sponsorship to get rid of some cobwebs and give the ride a lick of paint.
-
When does SAW's sponsorship end?(Sorry I'm not a raving Thorpe enthusiast, just a really big fan)If it's true that it would be rethemed, which I believe, I'd presume it's soon with SAW films now, done?

Lets just say it takes longer to get up than it does to come down. Good ride, only worthy of a five minute queue though. And I stupidly fast-track'ed it to ride thinking "Oh its new, I must do it on my rare visit to Thorpe!"Just watched the POV for the ride, seems to spin a lot, doesn't last that long though, I was expecting a longer flume :/

I'm 5ft 6in and I'm underweight and even I struggle to get into the back of each car lolThe concept is good? It's an extended clone.... Plus, it always gives me a headache, and then the fact that I have to specifically sit in the front row of each car really knocks it down even more in my book... No room for my legs... Stupid cars... Stupid restraints... Stupid Intamin...

To be honest its rare you get a choice of seat on Tidal anyway, or I've never been given one. Front Seat is fantastic for the experience though for the bang of water, and strangely one of the driest. Would always be my preference.Yeah that is what I thought :PI suppose because it goes over the top of your head there.
-
My honest insane point of opinion is anywhere but the front. I've sat Front, 3rd row, and 4th row on it and I found 3rd and 4th gave a pasting. Yet at the front it covered my back and not my frontWhich seat gets you the wettest? I always thought it was the back, but I am not so sure
-
Doubt it. But I found when I was there a few days it soaked me different amounts dependant on the day and seatLast Time I was on tidal was amazing was drenched head to toe through to my boxers ! Does anyone know I'f they've altered the shape of the boat or speed this year because last year wasn't that bad ! I've got a good memory on boats and I'm sure they've changed it a bit

It was built and tested by Mack, abroad somewhere in a warehouse, and was then dismantled and moved to Blackpool. Its not second hand, its the first one ever built. But it has been built and dismantled if that makes sense? It looks second hand, but seeing as this is the first installation of a Mack Twist 'n' Splash, I'm not sure that's possible?

Charming. Some of us happen to live in Blackpool and work for Madame Tussauds Blackpool All I'm going to say is if you're up this way its worth a visit, perhaps later in the year (September / November) when the Tower is open too. Blackpool's attraction has a lot coming in that London doesn't haveWho's looking forward to the new one at Blackpool? That's what I thought

Whilst I wouldn't run straight to it; I view it as the best Log Flume in this country and second best water ride I've been on in the UK after Tidal Wave - so I can understand people running to ithahahahah brilliant!I always used to run to this ride when the park opened as there would be no queue till everyone had walked up there. You could go on it about 5 times in a row without queuing, pretty cool, if you like the ride haha
-
When I rode it a few weeks back at about 3pm they were not working then either. I think it's hit-and-missNone of the effects were working. At all. The shower didn't come on, the water canons weren't working (even when people were trying to use them), yet they were fine later. So yeah, kinda put me off going on first thing.
-
And I have wondered why, but then I always assumed it was because it was one of two (the other being Sonic Spinball) without it's own shop..There has not been a Nemesis T Shirt on sale at Alton Towers for many seasons!
-
But Tidal Wave leaks too. And agreed with Mark, it was a relocated ride from a park they've taken management of in America, and so what if it leaks. It still worksMoaning? It's constructive criticism. They built a cheap ride that leaks all over the place. It doesn't bother me in the slightest but some might not.
