It would be a laugh if they were in The Asylum this year. Most people would not realise who they are, but the masks would certainly do their jobs at scaring people!
-
I always thought that was just insane people, not criminally insane? Oh well, we'll know this time next week.
-
Have the criminally insane ever been affiliated with FN before? Could be a hint towards the new maze... It also said that the attraction will be announced on Thorpe's Facebook page; I'm certainly keeping my eyes peeled on there! Also, I think E10 is the only main FN attraction that has been added since Thorpe properly focused on their new target audience and it is marginally better than the others scares wise (maybe not The Asylum). Hopefully now that Thorpe have a young adult target audience and have started to concentrated on it completely, their new FN attractions will be a lot scarier to cater for the young adults, who may want better scares, going through. I could be looking too far into this, but I think the quality of the mazes may start getting better than the likes of The Curse and start become more extreme like The Asylum and E10.

If you read her post you would know she has been to TP, AT and BPB this week.

Do Chessington Need To Add A Rollercoaster?
JackR replied to tomtom99's topic in Chessington World of Adventures
But surely the money issues they already have would just grow? I think Chessie need to invest in some sound attractions to get people visiting. People probably wonder why they would want to go to Chessie this year considering it is pretty much the same attraction wise as 2011 etc etc. -
Thorpe have had the concept of a twisted carnival since about 2005. In fact, they were considering installing one instead of Hellgate! I read it in an interview with the Entertainment Leader from 2006 which I'll post below. These three volumes of a magazine go into a lot of depth about the mazes. Pretty interesting to be honest. The interview is in Volume 2. http://www.s10463835...gazine_23a_01.htm- Volume 1 http://www.s10463835...zine_23b_01.htm- Volume 2 http://www.s10463835...zine_23c_01.htm- Volume 3 Also, I think the idea of general phobias is flawed. As mentioned above, if somebody was genuinely scared of what's inside surely they wouldn't go in? Thorpe will have a hard time scaring the people who are not scared of what lies inside as well. I know I've said it already, but a circus seems like the most likely theme of this new attraction. Clowns do scare most people (to a different extent of course) and if Thorpe could pull of a much more extreme version of Cos, I think it would be very successful!
-
I have a funny feeling it will be clowns, the two main comment responses on Thorpe's status are: A. Entrance prices B. Clowns. The roaming clowns last year also seemed to scare a lot of people, maybe Thorpe picked up on that somewhere along the way? I think it will be a more extreme version of CoS. That seemed to be more funny than scary for me? Although I don't see it fitting in well by Hellgate if this new maze is going there.

It was a big circular shatter, it was definitely exposed because my mate said: ''I like how they themed the window to look shattered'' then I turned around and saw it. That cardboard would have faced the weather for a couple of days and I don't see it being very effective at covering the glass if it's all soggy from rain etc. It is probably that, but it has to be changed every now and then?
-
The metal is like a thin sheet. If a thick metal cable that is capable of launching a projectile that weighs a few tonnes quickly to 80mph snaps, I wouldn't trust that sheet to protect me!
-
It was probably an uneducated idiot who was dared by their mates to do it. They all insisted it would be 'jokes' and the person probably had some money thrown in to do such a silly thing as well. I can't see why else the person would be on a car window screen jumping up and down until it shattered...
-
I saw it shattered yesterday! It wasn't boarded up though. Jumping on a car window is an antisocial, horrible thing to do anyway. Let alone doing it to somebody property in a public place...
-
Its always been there. Thorpe just boarded it up last year with a promotion for The Swarm. It leads to The Sunken Gardens which is a peaceful, isolated and rather secret part of the park; although the noise of Stealth does ruin the tranquility!

I was on park today and to be honest, all I really cared about was Fright Nights! I took the time to sit down in 'The Showcase' area at one point just to have a look at The Asylum and the lights were on inside. You could see through a grate on the door and the usual sign at the very beginning was up. I obviously couldn't look too far inside, but there must have been some work going on inside if there was lights on. I do seem to remember an indent in the wall to the left as soon as you walk through the door last year. It was big enough for an actor to hide in, but that has been boarded up this time around. Regarding Neptunes Beach, there was a sign up today letting people know that it would be shut for to the build up to, and for the Fright Nights event. One thing that did confuse me though was that the sand had been piled and the floor leveled out on both sides of the beach. If there was no maze returning to the larger side of the beach, then why would they be doing work on it? Here are some pictures of the work on Neptunes Beach, these are the only photos I got regarding Fright Nights today however. This is where Se7en was last year, I don't see the point in all that work if nothing is going back in its place? As most of you will already know, this is where The Curse usually goes. Work has also been done on the sand, but no water has been drained from either side of the pool as of yet. That's it for me until Fright Nights, good to hear the new attraction will be announced next week. Hopefully it will be something worthwhile and will have a gimmick. Although I will be slightly ****ed off if it's not a horror maze!

So after Thorpe Park Official posted the status Marc mentioned earlier, the stupid comments started flooding in. Amongst the silly questions that people could just find the answers out for themselves, like: 'Where do you buy tickets?' and 'Is Thorpe Park open tomorrow?', one women posted this: Thorpe then replied to the women with this: I think we can pretty much confirm that there will be a new maze this year too. Hopefully it will have a decent gimmick like E10, because regular walk through mazes seem dull all of a sudden! These past two years have been good ones for FN fans though I guess.
-
It may just be that Se7en is not on Neptune's Beach, which is pretty unlikely I guess. I reckon something will go in Hellgate's location. Just hopefully not Hellgate again!
-
Wouldn't it be amazing if there was a monster Intamin accelerator themed to a yellow bird? Maybe it could speed up massively halfway along the launch section as if it was being tapped?
-
There's your answer. Did anybody attend that Target Group thing either? I'd be interested to know what was bought up during the day.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if it was another show like that 'Barry and whatever the other one was called' thing last year. All of the mazes were good last year, I'd just like to see a replacement for The Curse if any maze is to be replaced. If not, I think we can put up with unstable walls and light pouring in from the emergency exits for another year...

I'm no engineer or physics genius, but maybe the backwards launch is put in to save energy and act as a gimmick? I could be completely wrong here, but surely the launch would require less energy if the train was already moving than if the train was stationary? I know a backwards launch would require energy to be done as well, but maybe it would require less energy than it would be to launch the car to the speed of the third launch from 0mph which would result in some energy/money being saved. I'm guessing that there has to be some sort of a stopping of the train in that tunnel thing for whatever reason, so maybe the backwards launch is there to: A. Add something to the ride that is more interesting than a sudden stop/ start in the same direction. (A gimmick) B. Add time to the ride C. Save energy and money for the park Now I could be wrong, so I'd appreciate it if somebody who actually knows their stuff could point out why if that is the case. If my energy saving concept isn't/couldn't be correct, then we can conclude that Magic Mountain really do not care about throughput... EDIT: Only just seen UC's post on CoasterForce, I didn't steal his idea!
-
I do agree with you, it doesn't really bother me what they call them, what I was trying to say in my post is that just because Thorpe have addressed this addition as a 'horror attraction', we shouldn't rule out anything along the lines of E10 or Se7en. Also, an actor broke out of character for me in Terror of the Towers two years ago. ^Spoilered it in case anybody hasn't been in TotT and doesn't want to know what goes on inside.
-
I suppose Thorpe shouldn't really call them 'mazes' because well, it's a winding corridor... Not a maze. I'm hoping this is something to either replace The Curse, or to add to the current collection of 'winding corridors' that the park already have; I'm still kind of expecting a walk through though.
-
Do you reckon the parts that make up the top hat/loop have a connected spine, or are two completely separate pieces?
-
Straight from Thorpe's Facebook page. I wonder what this surprise is?

SDC have been giving out 'clues' on their website about the 2013 ride. This is one of them: http://sdctripplanning.com/clues/clue2.php In other news, Cedar Point have put this up on their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/cedarpoint?sk=app_364041783617057 Six Flags are also supposed to be announcing something on the 30th. Not sure if it is country wide, or all about this 'full throttle' ride going to Magic Mountain...
