  1. I love it! Looks like it's now all about selling the park as a great day out with family and friends. MUCH BETTER!
  2. or Extreme Terror Rides (btw this Youtube channel has loads of these programmes if you're interested )
  3. I think I saw that a while back! Building the Biggest I think it was called. You should definitely be able to get Quest on Freeview. Channel 38. If you can't then just re-scan for channels
  4. This is now a sensible price! Nice one Thorpe They seem to have changed the website though, and removed the music on the beach and something else (I can't remember what it was). Maybe they're going to cut prices but also cut some of the content from the event, and maybe up the number of tickets available? This is definitely a massive step in the right direction though
  5. I always hoped that they would open in the dark more often, Thorpe is fantastic at night! But this very typical Merlin approach is not what I had in mind... £16 for Standard Annual Passholders? Are you joking? I assume Premium Annual Passholders will get in to this for free though under the "no exclusions" feature, as advertised in Merlin's marketing? http://www.merlinannualpass.co.uk/new-passes/at-a-glance.aspx
  6. This is great news and it shows that they actually making improvements, I'm very happy they've sorted X now!! It's such a shame about Tidal Wave and Saw's queueline speakers though. The atmosphere is not the same when they're switched off. That said though, maybe they'll get around to it. They seem to be gradually sorting the little things out this year.
  7. I found the old system unfair, because if you were picked out then you actually had to stand in a queue away from everyone else to be searched. If they're now searching all bagholders then it takes the "why me?" factor away from it, and makes it a lot more fair. If they're removing alcohol and drugs from more people then that can only be a good thing for Thorpe. Some days can be quite bad for that tbh.

Fright Nights every time. Skype or FaceTime ?
  9. Go to... Control panel > Programs > uninstall a programme. You will see something that looks like this... Click on "turn windows features on or off". You'll then see this... Find the section marked "Media Features", open it up and check to see if Windows Media Player is checked. Let us know if this helps, but if you are using Windows 8 then god help you....

Damn, forgot all about Sum 41! I loved them when I was in Primary School!
  11. Totally agree with this. they have been wildly inaccurate on all of my visits this year too. Thorpe have always been poor at updating their queue boards, but this year has been terrible. I just assumed that they aren't bothering to update the boards because most rides have been walk-on all year, so all guests know that there are no queues so updating the boards isn't really important.
  12. Just because something is new doesn't mean there is an acceptable excuse for it not to work. These signs should have been accurate from day one if implemented properly.
  13. I'd like to know who this 'spokesman' was Probably a hotel cleaner knowing Sky's slapdash approach to things. So I am guessing Rameses Revenge will be SBNO now for the remainder of the year, maybe getting replaced in time for next season if we're lucky. I really can't see it being repaired, it's just too past it. A new intense flat ride would be good in its place... They're really lacking in thrilling rides now!!

    Aero every time. or
  15. The ever reliable Sky News has reported this "A spokesman confirmed the attraction would be open tomorrow." http://news.sky.com/story/1104480/chessington-ride-all-people-rescued Haha!!
  16. So this means that every single restraint on the ride is now cut in half?! Something must have gone seriously wrong here. Chessington really is rotting away under Merlin isn't it....

    X

I'd rather see one or the other: All backwards facing or all forwards facing. I don't care which. Swarm has proved that Thorpe can't handle having a 2 option train. I would rather they didn't try it again on X!
  18. I've got a feeling they'll be playing musical chairs with those trains for a while before we see all 5 in action at the same time tbh. It's good that 5 can be run at once though Yeah it's real, it was in New Jersey after Hurricane Sandy last year.
  19. 1) Open 2) 120mins 3) 4 trains. 4) Is that right? Is it supposed to run with 5 trains?

Much better! I like the emphasis on Thorpe Park
  21. Outside of the UK I've been to Six Flags Georgia a few years ago and most of the Orlando parks. So I am a bit more limited compared with some of you! 1 - Sheikra. Perfect dive coaster tbh. 2 - Montu is probably the best invert I've been on. I don't know why, but I just like it. 3 - Hulk...... dat launch. 4 - The Swarm... Yep, better than Nemesis. *hides* This will probably slip further down the list as the years go on though tbh. But the ride I had on this at Fright Nights last year was spectacular - in the dark, fire went off! was walk-on... Perfection. 5 - Dueling Dragons before they were RUINED by Harry Potter... These coasters were legendary when they duelled and were under their own theme. sitting on the front row flying towards another train and missing it by just a few inches was amazing. 6 - Nemesis because it is Nemesis... I honestly think this is a bit over-rated... *hides* 7 - Goliath at Six Flags over Georgia is a really great ride. No theming (it's a SF park after all) but it's still a good'n. Went when it was new (2006/7ish?). Superman Ultimate Flight was closed that day so that explains why that isn't up here as well... 8 - Stealth because the launch is king. 9 - Air (possibly?) Although I've gone off it a bit now tbh... It's the only flying coaster I've been on though! Need to go and ride Manta one day. 10 - Kraken at SeaWorld. Sneaky number 11 - Revenge of the Mummy (I couldn't leave it off the list!) I have yet to ride the Smiler and Manta, I'm hoping these 2 will join this list soon!
  22. ^ To be fair it is just the odd few staff who seem useless... I would still say the majority of them are fantastic. It also seems to vary from one day to another unfortunately.
  23. It's such a massive shame. It makes me mad that the effects are so inconsistent! The fireball, mist, and water splashes are supposed to be part of the experience, but they never bother to switch them on! I agree about the poorly managed back row queue as well. It all seems such a mess! It's a brand new ride so why the hell wasn't a proper, foolproof system put in to place when it was built. The card system was doomed to fail from the beginning to be honest. The Swarm isn't faring too badly at the moment though to be fair, well not compared to Saw at least... that overgrown and silent queueline is a disgrace.

  25. Is low capacity an issue as well? I don't know the exact throughputs of the mazes, but it seems to me like the queues for conga line mazes (so Asylum and Curse) move a lot quicker than the others. Experiment's 10's queue was totally ridiculous last year, I guess because the maze is constantly stop/start, wheras people keep moving through the conga lines at all times without stopping to stand in a cupboard for 2 minutes. What I'm trying to say is, their new mazes don't get through people as fast as the old ones. Or that's what it feels like anyway.
