  1. That area looks slightly over the top huge for an Air Race, they're not THAT large footprint wise... Or at least they don't seem as such... Especially as this is a 6 car one correct?

Unless another section of the queueline runs inside the perimeter of the concrete base?

It was hectic on Saturday - the busiest I'd ever seen Drayton Manor. It took us nearly two hours to get in (and we were early), with all rides having a queue time of more than an hour. This was the first time I'd actually seen Shockwave's outside cattlepen packed, with the queue still trailing towards the entrance of SF10.

Anyway, I didn't get on much, but it was a great day, and the vibe was there.

    This needs posting tbh

  2. Bit needless no?

Perhaps, but I prefer to go on facts rather than speculation. We'd all love a Mack coaster at Drayton, but let's face it, would their budget allow for such a class ride? At best I'm guessing a Vekoma or Intamin...quite possibly the latter, considering the park has a good relationship with the company anyway.

  3. I can back this clam up as my coaster club in with had lunch last October with the management and that's where he was talking about his 5 7 and 10 year plans with us and he told us that he was indeed going to have a launch coaster over the lake for this year but he has had to out this on ice for the time being so he still planning on building one but I can not remember why he said it was put on Ice it was also in the same lunch that in the 10 year plan was for a 100% woody and he has the planes for one since 2012.

I'm not disputing the fact that Drayton are getting a launch coaster over the lake, we already know that, I'd simply like some solid evidence to support the claims this new coaster will be built by Mack...

Here's a construction update on the new Air Race:

  4. Yes ..... they did

Perhaps you'd be kind enough to enforce this claim with some solid evidence or official plans?

So far we've heard from two reliable sources regarding future projects at the park - One included a launch coaster over the lake (I don't ever recall Colin Bryan revealing the coaster would be manufactured by Mack), and as revealed to a member of CoasterForce by the park owner himself, Drayton would be getting an Air Race...which we're currently seeing undergoing construction.

  5. After having a decent amount of money thrown at it last year this can't be a planned move, it must have failed something terminally during closed season works.

For me it is a shame, I didn't love it but didn't find it that bad - I've been working on growing my own padding for many years for such circumstances. Totally understand people not caring though, it's probably the big ride that would be missed least. Biggest problem is how it'll look being either a big rusting sculpture or hole in what is currently their flagship adult area.

Same here! It was always one of those rides I could take or leave TBH. I never found it excruciatingly painful (Compared to the likes of G Force), but I wouldn't rush to queue for it, either. On the bright side, I guess we still have three rides in a major area, two of which are the park's top class coasters/attractions.

  6. Drayton Manor said the mack lauch coaster was originally planned but put on ice, I think an air race is perfect for Drayton Manor instead of some boring launch coaster.

Drayton Manor never said anything about a Mack coaster <_<

  7. Hmm, well I went last Monday and actually thought that, aside from Carnival of Screams, the others mazes let the side down. I definitely noted the lack of various odours in The Sanctuary. The fireball was also missing in the day room scene. Perhaps this had something to do with us being the first batch of visitors through? TotT felt very underwhelming.

The highlight for me was most definitely Carnival of Screams. I'm sure there are one or two new scenes that have been added. It was just a great laugh from start to finish. Ironic that the best maze should also be the free one as well.

Unfortunately we didn't have time to do The Smiler in the dark, but it looked amazing <3
