  1. Gotta keep those shareholders happy.... Hex and the Flume were the only two rides we missed this year, my wife was looking forward to going back on them until the closures were announced. I'm sure there's been significant impact from the media coverage, some friends were all set to go with us earlier in the year but had "last mine emergencies" that stopped them, this was right after Galactica broke and got all that coverage, their emergency was non existent, they just got scared. Most non-geeks I know who were planing trips had no idea of the ride closures, so I'm not sure myself that that was a major factor in decision making, people were just it scared of the park thanks to the press coverage.

Perhaps anything related to Loggers is having to wait until the Flumes at Alton are dismantled? I mean I know Merlin make some strange decisions but surely even they are not dumb enough to ignore the obvious, ride a needs new xyz (pumps?), ride b has perfectly good ones and is already earmarked for removal, why invest in new pumps for ride a when you can scavange the parts from ride b?
  3. Yeah I saw that yesterday I think, shame he feels the need to swear so much to get the point across, but he still makes some good points regardless.
  4. So I guess Trump will start his presidency as he run his campaign and one of his first acts will be to evict an innocent black family from their home... no? too soon? I'll show myself out

I prefer the dictionary not wiki but they essentially say the same: Although I sometimes wonder whether the PR department realise their every word is picked apart for clues and hidden meaning like a Westworld episode is. Shame, I had a soft spot for loggers, was my first flume ever and I got to share that with a lovely childhood friend who sadly never lived to see her 17th birthday.

Redevelopment and renovations have two completely different meanings. What is it they are saying now? Redevelopment? Then say your goodbyes now, redevelopment implies being torn down and something being put in its place.

Left hand doesn't know what right hand is doing? Happens a lot in big business.
  9. Perhaps their boss didn't like their responses so he's put them in a lineup while he decides which one gets introduced to his assistant Lucille?
  10. Like Brexit it'll probably calm down once people see sense, but until then batton down those hatches. Would Trump get away with repealing stuff like Gay Marriage? Any political students in here that can explain American Politics to us? I don't think it would be so simple as him snapping his fingers and it hapenning, it would have to go to the Senate and even though he controls that, there's no guarantee they would approve it and even then the Supreme Court could block it as being unconstitutional. He can't touch abortionn laws at all but if you took everything he said as gospel you'd think he could. Moral of that story being do your own homework and don't rely on Fox News as your source. Hopefully if the DNC learn anything from this, it's not to do deals with nasty people and actually put forward your best candidate to win, not the one you want to win.
  11. Perhaps we'll go there next year, we were supposed to go to Alton but couldn't and by all accounts it was just as well if you've seen some of the complaints on fb.
  12. It would have happened whatever the result, you can't have a year long campaign with racism and hatred as it's core arguments stirring up both sides and expect people to just wake up the day after as if nothing had happened.

Haha that's exactly what I was thinking, with boats mocked up to look like Cornish Pasties.
  14. I wish more people shared the level of maturity on display here, perhaps there is hope for humanity.

    2017

They really have started chopping the end of the season off, I'm not sure but I'm pretty certain we were there the first weekend in November last year, for those of us that have no interest in FN, it means the season ends at the end of September for all intent and purpose.

Why not? Can't be any worse than branding a dark ride around a nonexistent animal.
  17. I didn't say I agreed with it, but the irony of your reactions is hilarious.
  18. One mans deplorable is another's freedom fighter.
  19. That case was dropped, the woman didn't show for a press conference and the claim got withdrawn, it was also a civil case, not criminal one and iirc the third district she had tried to file in as the previous attempts had been thrown out, it's why even the most ardent Clinton supporting press wouldn't touch it, a trained monkey could see it for what it was. As for the KKK, it's about the same relevance as the BNP backing Brexit. Of course hate-crimes will increase, but lets not kid ourselves it would have been any different had Clinton won, both campaigns were based on hate in their own unique ways, I mean Clinton labelled half of America as deplorable, that was never going to end well regardless of who won. I just hope all the Hollywood scum that threatened to leave if Trump was elected stand by their word and piss off to some deserted Island in the Pacific instead of chickening out like Jamie Oliver did post Brexit.
  20. Yes, I think it's fair to say Merkel is going to have a tougher job on her hands than what she expected when she invited Syria to the dinner table, I know a few out there and it's safe to say the level of anger towards her is far higher than what is being reported, not just there but places like Finland, Sweden etc. and the more people who feel their own government doesn't put their interests first, the more determined they are to upset the status quo and elect someone who says they will, the Brexit and Trump result will only goes to reinforce this belief. My friend, who I swear is about 126, in convinced we are already in a precursor stage to ww3 and have been for some time (long before Trump/Brexit), he says he's seen this all before and as nobody ever seems to learn from history, we're destined to repeat it. Although he seems to think it won't be a boots on the ground type war, more a cyber based one. He's even more nuts than I am, but that doesn't mean he's wrong.
  21. Putting the negatives of each candidate aside, the last time a non-career politician was president he did a pretty dam good job of it, despite being up against the same rhetoric as Trump, so maybe the world should swallow it's pride and give the guy a chance rather than condemned him before he's even been sworn in. I agree on the face of it 2016 looks to be the year from hell, but in 10 years we may all look back on it with a completely different viewpoint.
