Thanks for the tips. I think I am more scared about going upside down than height/speed.

Is a better idea to do the 'scariest' one first or slowly work my way up? If so what order works best for Thorpe (definitly not Saw).

I would hate an inversions. For a person who could be scared of inversions, stealth is good as it is the only big thrill coaster that never goes upside down.

For some reason, I was completely OK doing stealth twice but too scared to do any inverted coasters (any one that goes upside down) when I last visited Thorpe 2 years ago!

I have sadly yet to do a 'proper' inverted coaster as I did Air (now Galactica) but whether you count it going upside down or not is a completely different question. Rita nearly scared me the first time and to make the ride worse, my head in the wrong position so my head banged from side to side of the OTSR. Th13teen meanwhile did not scare much as it didn't have inversions. This logic has made me wonder what is exactly the thing that scares people. Is it speed/ height (like Stealth) that scares people? Is it inversions (like me) that frightens people? Or is it something else? This thread will be about what exactly scares you on the ride and then tips for how to overcome that fear on a coaster.

What surprised me most about the accident (not the actual accident), was general public's knowledge of it. So many people I have been with thought people died.

Has anyone read some of the Twitter comments? They were furious. I should have expected this would happen. The system should have got you 1 ticket at a time not 4.

I contrast to you. I normally love merlin. But once a person spends an hour of their life which is wasted, a person won't be happy. This is one of the first things that has annoyed me about merlin. I understand that Alton towers has midweek closures but enthusiasts just moan about it. This shows how negative enthusiasts are sadly (generally). This time it was the GP angry which is a LOT worse for the park. To the honest for merlin, any media is good media (not Smiler) so I am now less angry than I originally was.

By having this attitude, we are letting Merlin think it is OK for things like this to happen. I am in my the middle of writing a long letter to the 12p email to show my anger.

I would just hope the park is sensible and does a similar 12p offer for Sunday. Due to their errors, they have bad press from many papers from BBC news to the Mirror.

With the 12p tickets, can I check where you put the promotional code/ details. Anyone else trying for them?

I just find that painting an eye sore. When I look at the building, I enjoy the rock work but when I see the painting, it ruins the illusion of being far way.

I am a bit confused with this investment. To me it sounds like the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory factory but not as good. I find it really hard to like most of the recent investments. Volcanoe Bay will have a very low capacity and Kong's painting of the 'forest' in the background look terrible. It simply looks cheap and ruins the effect of the amazing rock work.
