  1. Ooh, I went on the Fright Night last year and loved the rides in the dark. As Stealth was shut (closed down the night before we left... GRRR) my fave rides are:Samurai - because they really upped the speed on it that night and there was so much smoke it was amazing to fly headfirst into it, no knowing where the ground was.Detonator - for the view at the topI really hope they have Nemesis' effects working tomorrow!
  2. Indeed, I've never been on it with the effects working, am really looking forward to it if the effects are still there on the 18th when I'm going
  3. Woud recommend you watch at least the first two then
  4. I haven't been to Thorpe Park since right at the start of summer and the swinging blades on Saw weren't working, I was disappointed.
  5. Those pannels look ridiculous :/ bad move.
  6. Vertical lift-hill. There were bricks.Apart from that though, I didn't actually find the ride scary. I think they could have had more traps from the film to help the indoor theming, the Angel trap might have been a nice one. The shotguns was a pretty good effect - it's so funny to hear people in the queue who scream every time.
  7. Which is unfortunate. My mate and I did try to switch from sitting in the second row to the front though when we were assigned to the first car, and then loads of people behind us thought this was a great idea too causing a pile up in the first row which annoyed the staff a fair bit..But we still got to the front so it was all good That said though, is there really much difference in experience depending which row you're in? I haven't ridden Saw much, only been to TP once since it opened..
  8. I never have.. it's not an effect I'm so keen on, it doesn't seem to be that effective. They might as well have put the money to making the body look more realistic, even if you only see it for a few seconds
  9. Haha this is definitely true. I've generally found when it comes to adrenaline-provoking rides, I tend to break out in hysterical laughter o.O Especially on Samurai and Stealth, Saw was more.. going up the lift hill = stream fo expletives. But I don't see why anyone should complain about the noise of people screaming, it's a theme park after all.
  10. Seeing the "BRICKING IT??" one last trip made that ride =(They will be missed.
  11. To be fair, I would say £50 or however much it is for the ultimate fastrack is a bit steep but I may consider paying it for a Fright Night if I have to go on a crowded day...
  12. Tee hee I got my friend to go on this ride with me. He was cursing me the whole way up and looked less than impressed safter the big wave had hit and we git off :)I hate when you leave the exit station though and can still get hit by the waves from the next people coming down I didn't realise until it was too late...
  13. For me, Inferno and Colossus are tied in third fave after Samurai and Stealth. I have always gotten a rush from riding it, and definitely consider it above mediocre
  14. I would disagree with this, we went to FN last year and in the last hour went on Samurai, Colossus, Nemesis and Detonator. The park cleared out a lot around 8 compared to how full it was all day. That said though, I think I might buy a fastrack for this year. And I would LOVE to see Inferno with the new effects in the dark ^^ it should add a lot to the experience.
  15. Are there any decent quality vids on youtube of the inside of the ride, with the swinging blades? As for the rights: don't quote me on this, but I believe they have the rights to use the SAW theme for 10 years?
  16. Maybe. I was just disappointed the drop is over so fast X3
  17. I went on tne 20th and my mate and I got on front row every time, not waiting longer than 15 mins It was good
  18. From an engineering point of view, I don't believe there's any reason why it would not be possible to hold the car. I do think it could be considered as a possibility? There are always the small little things which can be done to make a ride just that bit better: like the background music, something I agree might help add to the atmosphere also.Let's hope Thorpe Park listen to the opinions of the riders? That said though, I'm glad to hear the pendulums are back up ^^ Hopefully all the effects they've sorted out will still be there on fright night when I'm going next.
  19. The lift is tense, the drop I found disappointing. As for whether or not it's available, I have no idea: I don't know enough about rollercoaster engineering. But theoretically, it could have made for a better drop. The blades were also slightly lacking for me =( I barely even noticed them as the train went down, but I don't know if that's just me. They just had less of an impact while actually on the ride than if you watch them spin while queuing.
  20. Maths has never been my strong point either but I'll try to explain what I think is going on the best I can. Think of this:A --------------------------------------- B (2.3s)A -------------------------- B (1.9s)It will take longer for the train to get from point A to B in the first picture than it will in the second picture, so the figure for how fast the acceleration is is greater. In the second picture, even if the train leaves point A at the same speed as it did originally, it reaches point B quicker and so it has "technically" accelerated faster. That's what thorpe Park supposedly did, they just started reading from a different point along the track to get the new 1.9 seconds figure. The train doesn't actually travel any quicker out of the station than it did originally. As I said, I'm not sure if this is entirely correct or if I explained it well enough, but I'm finding it hard to put the concept into words simply
  21. That's a shame :/ because it really doesn't have anywhere near the same effect if they aren't swinging like they should. A stationary blade is hardly as scary.Another thing I found on it was the drop was over too quickly for me to really find it scary: if anything I was more scared on the lift-hill. Maybe they should have invested in an Oblivion-type drop chain to hold you at the top of the drop over the spinning blades for a couple of seconds before releasing the train? Little things, but..
  22. I was under the impression the reason it was claimed as faster acceleration was just they measured from lower along the track..?Edit: SNAP! But yeah pretty much what they ^ said
  23. Question for people who have been on Saw in the last week: have they got the pendulums up and running yet?
  24. From his posts.. I believe what Ben was trying to say is that the park is "worst" when it's full of teenagers probably because of issues like overcrowding/queue-jumping/bad conduct etc. which is pretty noticable as coming from the teenage population. His comment was aimed more at the presence of teenagers IN THE PARK rather than singling teenagers out as a universally bad group in themselves, since he says he is also a teenager. That's just what I got from it :/
