  1. BIG TOP was good, although the most inconsistent maze I've ever been in and average theming inside the tents. Cabin was great again although needs renovation as another year of it will be stale, and they need someone stood at the cabin entrance as it was too easy to loop back in and do the maze 6 times in a row. I thought MBV was really good, don't understand the negativity, and BWP is actually the best imo even if its the simplest.

Fright Night has been so good this year, although yday was just ridiculously busy and too over capacity.

I enjoyed Containment and it was worth £8, but only works once.

I hope next year we see some original IPs, or if the Lionsgate rumors are false we see some new films coming in to replace these that will be stale by next year after 3 years of use.

(the control room is absolutely useless)

  2. They've had problems with the system. I think it's fine now but is having trouble coping with earlier issues.

I arrived into the park at 5:30 and have got MBV and Cabin done; currently queuing for Studio 13. I personally think the system would be better if there was no standby queue, add the ratios are not going well given the problems. Shame.

How have you got two done in a hour mate? What's the best way :(?

  3. Thorpe aren't going to stop reserve and ride because they received 1 email are they?

On Facebook I saw nothing but good reviews about reserve and ride, people asking if it's coming back and when. If it turns out to be a massive mess and them getting a load of complaints then I'm sure they'll change something.

I doubt they'll use it every single date so I'm sure you could go on a date where they're not using it.

I agree, but fright night is not the time to be a massive mess. Been confirmed it was false anyway

  4. Well I go a reply to my email, and all I can say is that guy went by a rumour and did not actually know. I don't know how to add an image, so here is what they said.

Many thanks for your enquiry to THORPE PARK Resort!

I’m not sure where you have heard the information about trialling Reserve’n’Ride during FRIGHT NIGHTS, but this will not be happening. R’n’R is still in trial stages and after a successful Summer trial, we will not be running it for the remainder of the season so that we can focus on our FRIGHT NIGHT period.'

  5. Well I've emailed Thorpe about this. What an awful idea on such a busy and big event to use a system which has not been perfected and will actually vastly increase queue times. What about us that actually want to get there early and queue to get on it quickly? Too risky, will actually void any date that plans to use this.

  6. Bit off topic, but in my opinion Experiment 10 is the best maze Thorpe have ever done. It had a great story, horrifying actors/costumes, and the bit where you are split up is very scary! It was my favourite maze and by far the scariest and best overall. The actors were also perfect to come out of the maze and roam every now and then, with one chasing me into the toilet! Ex10 was the best; why did they ever get rid of that maze? And why does MBV not have a similar style locked-up scene, as if you are the main character watching Harry through the mesh like in the film!

  7. Maze revealed tonight too! Cannot wait for this, new maze.

Looks to me like Friday the 13th/Texas Chainsaw. Cannot wait for the reveal!

It is definitely the font for Friday the 13th, that would be very scary!

  8. With the way they are aiming their target market this year, does anyone think there would be a family maze? If there was, it would probably fail misersably because families would think it was a scary maze from the outside, therefore not going in.

Most would agree that the target marget of Fright Night will never change. The event will always be known for scares and there is a much bigger market for the older customer in Fright Nights, and they will lose many, many visitors as well as reduced profit from Fright Nights if they decided to bring in a family maze, as families would not go for one maze and would be unlikely to go to Fright Nights anyway with Alton Towers and Chessington available with more for children. With the new Lionsgate deal for the next few years and increased opening hours, they would never aim Fright Nights at families due to other available attractions and massive profit losses. Also, the atmosphere of Fright Nights and the other mazes/late closing times/roaming actors would mean families would never stay anyway

  9. Probably means we'll have an Asylum replacement and possibly roaming actors; as that leaves us with 5-6 attractions.  They'll just put scare mazes because it's easier I guess.

One thing which I've just thought about - the posters on park for Fright Nights have the You're Next character on them.  Whilst I doubt anyone would complain (in terms of misrepresentation) if they didn't return, and that Thorpe haven't confirmed their return with the rest, I wonder if there's a chance if they'll return.  I think the execution of the characters would work better in a scare maze rather than roaming actors, since with roaming actors, you have enough time to see they're simply people in masks with plastic weapons.  Would be completely different in a hectic maze scenario!

Could work. Would prefer Texas Chainsaw Massacre though.

  10. @DaveViper We will have are around 5 or 6 scare mazes based around iconic Horror films, featuring live actors scaring the wits out of you!

@DaveViper All will be revealed soon... :-)

Possible hint at a new maze on their twitter page? I understand that they could still be wrong but they are the official PR department and correctly stated that there were only 4 mazes last year (and said of the franchises involved). The way they also said 'all will be revealed soon' suggests that this 5th/6th maze reveal will be the surprise this year, as I guessed. This gets me very excited about what's to com!

  11. I agree with JoshC. Surely they realise that 1 scare zone and 3 mazes is just too little, and not using the building for a new IP is just a waste?

Last year, the first reveal came August 16th/17th. NOTHING was hinted before that and it was only due to the job applications that people knew a new maze was coming. So, to keep it a surprise, they just haven't put that in the job description as it is unnecessary for the actors to know the mazes until they get a place. As I said, check scaretours, every year there has been something new. You really think the Asylum will be removed with no replacement? (Texas Chainsaw seems a nice idea)

  12. ^I suppose, may be something simple like that. But surely they'd reduce the width of the gallery/increase the width of the images/add an image of the Fright Night logo?

I cannot see Thorpe removing a fan favourite and leaving the building vacant, leaves no surprises this year as they've already revealed the return of the IP mazes. Every year there has been something new and to leave such a good space for a maze vacant... They just wouldn't do it. I am sure there will be another scare attraction, no doubt. There will be a surprise
