  1. I'm sure you all saw this coming... It is with some degree of pleasure that I invite you, the lovely people of TPM, to come on over to my home county for the official 2017 Adventure Island meet! It's coming up to two years since the last one which was a lovely time, and I am sure this time will be no different. This will be taking place on Sunday, 12th February, as voted by you forum lot! Should you decide you're up for this, here's what the day could look like: -meet by the Rage lift hill between 10 and 10:30, in this time people can be buying/collecting their wristbands from the nearby ticket office -from 10:30 onwards, we will be going around riding what people wish to ride -at some point around 1-1:30/whenever people are peckish people can go off for a bite to eat for an hour before getting back to those rides (maybe not Time Machine just after lunch though) -after park close, we shall head off for our evening meal/social, which will be at Maya's World Buffet -once everyone has all fed on some (hopefully) yummy food, a few people may wish to visit Creams for some dessert, I know I most certainly will! As you may have noticed, I haven't outlined any other specific meet points during the day for any latecomers. This is simply because Adventure Island is a relatively small park so it would be fairly easy for people to pop along rather than taking the entire group to specific points for specific times, but remember if you are late you will be left behind- especially you, Peaj! So place your votes, have your say, and if you have any questions, comments, ideas or suggestions please let me know; and mention it here or in a PM to me if you're looking to attend Here's some potentially useful links Adventure Island: http://adventureisland.co.uk/ Maya's World Buffet Southend: http://mayasrestaurant.co.uk/menus/world-buffut-menu/ Creams Southend: http://creamscafe.com/menu.php ***** Who's Coming?? 2. Hi again, managed to get Windows 8 to play ball so I can upload my photos from since September Early September me and SCB headed up north to Drayton Manor for my first time. It was a cold, damp day, but we got loads of rides done, including the "humpty bumpty oddity" that is G-Force, and my first standing coaster (Shockwave) that was... Challenging to get into due to being a little bit short :pardon:Eventually developed a technique by the end of the day though and really enjoyed it Also enjoyed Pandemonium and watching SCB on Apocolypse... Yeah I still refuse drop towers. The only slight issue was that it was incredibly quiet and a few of their rides require a certain number of people to run. I ended up waiting about 15 minutes in my seat on Pandemonium... Also didn't go on any of the water rides because it was VERY cold, but I got the gist just by looking so that was enough for me Then in late September we headed down to Adventure Island with Paige for her birthday! I'd never done an amusement park before other than travelling fairs, so loved the fun Some of their in-house creations though were insane! Time Machine for example. Insane. So intense I whited out for most of it... God knows who came up with the idea of it in the first place Absolutely LOVED Dragon Claw. It was amazing, despite the fact that I had to ride it alone (as with most of the spinny rides...). Rage was also great, nifty ride for a park like this. Great fun and a nice little thrill for the older visitors to the park. And yes I got very excited that we were visiting the seaside and insisted on looking for shells on the beach. Even though it is Paige in this photo. And can I just add, the park looks incredible after dark. Anyway, that's this part done, shall be back with my final installment soon!
  3. Hey guys, new here, I had a trip down to Adventure Island yesterday and I wanted to post a little Trip Report Park Open: 11am Park Close: 10pm Rides Closed: None I got to the park at about 12pm and left at 10pm (closing time on this day), first thing I noticed the park was really busy (of course it would be) but the rides queues were really short, shorter than expected. I hadn't been down here in about 4 years so it was nice to see the park still having short queues. First ride of the day was Rage, it was running 2 trains (3rd was having its wheels replaced but later was put on and had people loaded on it within about 2 test runs) Great operations I must say. The line was moving very very fast and no more than 5 minutes at all. We then headed on Skydrop, a good drop ride for what it offers. after, I went on time machine, now, I wanted to ride this when it opened but because it opened like a year late I never got the chance, needless to say I will never be going on it again, that thing was just so intense that I almost blacked out and came off almost sick (yikes), was glad I did it though, after we went on rage again (almost a walk on queue so how could we not?) and headed on some other rides on the other side of the park, had multiple re rides on pretty much everything and overall was a great day out (I only live about an hour away so it was a short trip) Operations 10/10 fast moving lines on every ride Staff, 10/10, all the staff were nice, fun, and did their own little stuff on the rides Day out, 9/10 Park was busy, very busy despite not many lines for the rides. Ride count: Rage - 17 Skydrop - 3 Time Machine - 1 Green Scream - 2 Over the hill - 1 Scorpion - 2 Dragons Claw - 2 Ramba Zamba - 1 Mighty Mini Mega - 1 Barnstormer - 1 Archelon - 1 Vortex - 1 Sk8borda - 1 Pharaohs Fury - 1 Fireball - 1 Devils Creek Gold Mine - 1 Helter Skelter - 1 Serpent Slide - 1 A very good day with lots of rides!
