As long as they abide by health and safety regulations, who in the park cares.

Its not really under the job description, they operate the ride. I wouldn't expect them to maintain it.

"Just to clear one thing up, I'm sure the park DO check every single component on the rides every morning, every single visible nut and bolt is checked."Why only the visible ones? Surely if your going to check 'every single component' it shouldnt just be the the visible ones? Even so, I'm still in high doubt they even check visible ones unless its undergoing a full on safety inspection by the park, in which case everything is stripped and analysed until its deemed safe by the park.Having to check every single nut & bolt every morning would grow tiresome. I'm sure its just a quick glance, a test run, then straight into operation.

I'd rather walk over hot coals to my destination than use public transport.

Its news. I just think what they publish should undergo more rules. Its unfair on the park, you cant exactly call blowing something completely out of proportion 'reporting'.

I agree, It is news therefore papers have a right to report, but they only do so to effect the parks reputation & expose their faults. They dont care about peoples safety, hell, they'd rather someone be killed. The story would sell more. THATS why I find the reports unjust. I refuse to believe that something could have been done to prevent it. The ride part must have looked in working order beforehand and would have continued operation. You cant expect the staff to check every nut and bolt before the ride comes into operation. We all know rush underwent extensive engineering at the start of this season, which leads me to believe that if anything it received more attention and would have been 100% secure. It was just one of those things that nobody could predict.Overall, for a park of this size we shouldn't see this sort of thing happening. It was very serious and they were lucky nobody was indeed killed. But least we forget that regardless of how large a company is, you still cannot expect them not to make a mistake. No matter how life threatening. As for Merlins 'incidents' this year, even if Tussauds remained in control, it would still have happened. The faults may even have been overlooked and deemed less serious then they really were. There's hundreds of reasons as to why this happened; so we can argue our cases all we wish. Any of you could be correct.

Yeah, all the rapes, murders and missing children.. or even the people whom should be recognized for their heroics or achievements.. but ofcorse, that piece of metal that *MIGHT* have caused injury is far more important.

In all honesty, it was a serious safety flaw. Nethertheless, nobody could predict it happening and the blame cant be put upon anyone. These things happen. I just think the publicity of the whole event was totally unnecessary. Not only does it make thorpe look bad, it also highlights the poor english some of these reporters, I mean, scream park? come on.

Yet again, another hyped up story was in The Sun yesterday regarding Rush.Apparently, debris fell off during operation and was thrown into a crowd of some sort. Must gave been a reeeeeally slow news day for them to publish something so petty. Supported with arguably the worst headline ever.See for yourself, images here.Blown totally out of proportion.

Gah, I totally disagree with finishing a game on penalties. Especially a Champions league final.

Actually, at school I get quite frustrated with the usual keyboard layout. Why is the ctrl key so far away from the actual shortcuts? Its all these little things that build up and give macs that edge.
