    Musicals

I've been neglecting this topic when it should be one I post in regularly, considering the course I'm doing and my future career. :)I love theatre, everything about it is exciting to me. Theatre can be so many things; in all honesty it has the possibility to be anything and mean anything to everyone. We all have our own perception on things, we may share similar outlooks on various subjects and situations, yet none of them are exactly the same. That's what I find such a beautiful notion with theatre- you put on a production and then ask members of the audience of their views on it, each one will be slightly different. The atmosphere is unbeatable IMO, a live audience, live actors, live special effects. Anything can happen there and then and you get immediate reactions from the audience. It's exciting, it's chaotic and it's a wonderful drama in itself, regardless of what story is being told.I must admit, I do not see as much theatre as I should. The last thing I saw was Pricilla, Queen of the Desert, which was pretty darn awesome. I loved the costumes, I love the songs and the general production of it all. I think the bus (which is called Pricilla for those that don't know) is brilliant. For those that haven't seen the film, I highly recommend it. Don't turn your nose at it straight away and please give it a chance. It's an ultimate feel good film about accepting who you are and allowing others to accept you too. It's all a big romp really with some hilarious one liners and electric songs and costumes to match. Though the latter half really touches on the emotions and has a rather large impact IMO. It certainly made my eyes glisten with tears a few times; especially in the theatre production. What I in theatre most though, is when it is taken outside the conventional venue and it's stripped back to its core. Theme Parks are theatre, to me, just outside of the typical venue. Every attraction is a piece of theatre; everything is staged to manipulate the emotions of the audience. More commonly now, we're seeing the introduction of live actors into our attractions, this just further confirms for me that it is all the same, just perhaps, in a more abstract way.Anyway, enough talk from me, I may elaborate further after a few people have had their say on all things theatrical. ;)EDIT- Yes, I've just realised this is a musical. I never understood why the threads are separate, it's not like either of them are busy enough to warrant it! It's all theatre isn't it?
  2. Holly babe, please stop posting with such a chip on your shoulder. Nobody has anything against you and as far as I know the only issue that has come up is you feeling as though you should be thanked. I'm surprised there is such a big fuss being made over this.Unfortunately, people react more to negative/ badly constructed posts because that's in our human nature to respond to these over the more positive ones. It's nothing against you. It's a fact of life that negativity creates more reaction than positivity. For instance, you'll remember bad experiences more than positive ones. There are plenty of members who construct brilliant posts and make excellent, valid points, yet they receive little recognition from members because they're too busy contesting against another members' posts and the good ones get lost in the not so good. Sadly the whole rep system is mostly a popularity contest; popular members will be repped more often than newer ones. Please stop taking it so personally Holly, just relax and know that there are more important things in life than receiving recognition for an act on a theme park forum.
  3. Ohai there. How've you been? :)

    Lady GaGa

Right so I'm a casual Gaga fan, I'm not usually a fan of music where a lot of effects are used on the vocal, hence why I much prefer her live performances to her records (she also does a pretty good ballad). I've just listened to Edge of Glory for the first time and got major goosebumps. What a great pop record.I think it's a great showcase of her vocals; she has a really soulful voice which I don't think many people give her credit for.

    Your Thorpe Park

Wow. Just wow. Could you explain your ideas a little? Not sure if you're being serious or not.
  6. I knew of Spike and Cinders (but couldn't remember their names), though I've only ever seen them stand for about 5 minutes on that little podium in LOTD, looking sorry for themselves, waiting to people to make a fuss, before wandering off back into wardrobe. Walk-about characters need to go and pro-actively interact with guests, rather than just stand there. The Vampire characters for the special event were great but as far as I know, they were for the event only.
  7. I think it goes to show how little presence they have in the park when I have absolutely no idea of their existence.
  8. I feel ashamed to say that I have absolutely no idea what you guys are on about. Chessington has walk-about characters?
  9. I'm really looking forward to it; I love Busch Gardens, it's a brilliant park. No I think you're going to beat me to it Adam! I go on the 7th August and will probably be at Busch Gardens around the 14th/ 15th.Who's up for a TPM meet-up? There are a few of us going!
  10. There have been several photo updates of Cheetah Hunt over at Orlando United Forums recently. Showing off more landscaping and finishing touches to the area.I'd definitely recommend the official update from Busch Gardens, too, over on Orlando United, as well. Only a couple of weeks now.
  11. Hi Adam.I've been reading through some of your posts and at the very core of them, you seem to be very interested in theme parks and have a passion for it all, which is great and it's awesome that you've found this site, so a big welcome there. In order for you to integrate and take part in the forums, there is a certain way to behave. Small things like double- checking for similar topics before posting new ones and having a good read around the forums before taking part in discussion is definately a good idea.I was your age when I started browsing theme park forums, and I know it's quite a good feeling, knowing that there are other people out there who love theme parks as much as you do. My advice would be, continue to familiarise yourself with the forums, take note of the quality of your posts and take your time when taking part in discussion, it's not a race.If you need to ask questions, there are a couple of topics where it would be appropriate; either in Tips For New Members, or Introduce Yourself. You could also send me a personal message, if you'd prefer, I'm more than willing to offer some helpful tips. I'm sure Ian has already offered his support and is always there if you have an issue, as are the other team members and moderators if you feel the need to talk to someone privately.Once again, I'd just like to point out, most of the time it's not your post content that's the issue, it's how you write it that you need to work on and whether there is an existing place to post whatever you want to say. I'd like to welcome you to the forums anyway, I hope things work out for you.

    Music

Here, have a Live Stream.125 years of Coca-cola today, they're celebrating with a private* event. Some great acts peforming, though of course, I'm waiting for Kelly Clarkson. *Apart from thouands of fans online.K'naan on right now- hmm not a fan.
  14. Now, why don't we all sit down, have a cuppa, and wait for all this to blow over, eh?
  15. I have just noticed your signature. "Burp reactive hair". HAHA! Loved it ;D x

  16. I think given that so much money is being invested in this project, we're going to see marketing cranked up to the max. They've already started a large in park campaign as we've seen with the flyers and actors. Even Thirteen, which had a huge budget for marketing and an extensive campaign, didn't go to this scale until Scarefest of 2009.Due to the amount of marketing, and already lots of eyes on the Capital and the surrounding area, Thorpe will see a huge influx of guests, particularly throughout the summer months. We may not notice is too much, as this ride will have a large throughput and will be able to cope.
  17. I'm loving all of your daily trip reports so far Nicky, please keep posting them whenever you get the time. It's getting me so stoked for my trip this summer. Glad to see that you enjoyed yourself anyhow.
  18. A great Cheetah Hunt update over at RCPro has emerged. Loving the themeing work from Busch Gardens here. Can't believe this thing is opening in just over 3 weeks.
  19. Heya, sorry I missed you online earlier.... I was making dinner. Woo! You had a good day? :)

  20. Here's an offride view of Starry Night Ripper. The speed at which it takes that Zero G Roll!
  21. As far as I know, Skyway was one of the original attractions when the park opened as Chessington in 1987 (although I may be wrong on this as the early park history is still a little fuzzy with me).The entire Transylvania area and its attractions opened in 1990. :rolleyes:The facts on the top trumps cards are far from accurate and not to be taken as canon.
  22. Great TR. Really pleased to hear the park wasn't as busy as you were expecting and it sounds as though operations were efficient at least.
  23. I doubt anyone on the development team would tell an actor the nature behind the code name. They would have just been given direction and how their character should behave.
  24. Moan moan moan moan moan moan moan moan moan moan.....That's all we get from the same two or three members every time. I don't think it's a forum problem we have, I think it's a dispute between a selected few who like to broadcast it on the forums.Time for an anti-rant.

    Doctor Who

The Silence will be back, for sure. We're still yet to find out why they wanted the Tardis explode in the last series amongst some other things. I think they play a larger part in this series. It does perhaps elude to how all those aliens managed to form an alliance last season- they were manipulated by the Silence, and then they forgot.Watched the episode a second time last night, after missing little bits of the episode before. I thought it was fantastic and a cracking two parter for Who. There were some amazing River moments in this episode that was really touching.... that is the last time she will kiss the Doctor and it was his first. Aww. Confidential was also a cracker too. So glad it's back.
