  1. I think it depends on what sort of a day you go, the thing is, if you go on a busyer day at thorpe park, the staff are going to be stressy, and a bit worn out - which, when you have to deal with 10,000 or so people on a peak day is the least I would be. Chessingtons staff do seem to be a lot more relaxed, but that could be pinned down to the fact that they are not constrained to a concrete island, and have lots of shrubbery and plants and nice green things. You can't say this park or that park has better staff, because everybody is different. Situations are different. I know for a fact that when I leave chessington, I am never as hot and tired as when I leave thorpe, maybe it's the atmosphere, and maybe that's what chessingtons staff benefit from? On the other hand, I have never found chessingtons staff as casual or easy to talk to as thorpes.I also feel how both parks are sold has an effect on this as well. Chessington is sold as the sort of park you can spend a lazy day at with the family, have a great time, get scared and also act like a child again, thorpe park is an aggressivly fast paced, ride island, which gives no consideraton to comfort and maximum consideration to being scared and thrilled. Which one of those makes you more relaxed?
  2. Well, it's one of those rides I wont go out of my way to ride, but will certainly have a crack at it if the oppertunity arises. It does frequently.
  3. A tad harsh don't you think? Yes, some parts do still say Tussauds, and last time I looked, the x:\ cars still had the old logo, but retheming would take a long time, and as the season has already started, I doubt it will be anytime soon. This isn't a new discussion I'm afraid...
  4. OK, we all know the recession is in full swing, and money is tight, but with the right tips, you can still have a great day out at thorpe park, and save some money as well, so lets discuss our ways of saving money if you have them...Post your ideas here, I'll start the ball going...If you are coming to thorpe from London, and getting the train from waterloo, SouthWest Trains do a deal, that includes Standard class rail travel, entrance fee to the park and bus transfer for £29 (last time I checked), which is really a no brainer if you don't have the passes.
  5. No probs, have a good day! Actually place your head back on stealth, my neck hurt for days 'cos I was an idiot! Trust me when I say it is nothing like rita
  6. No, but they go down as far as they normally do, again, don't panic - no point working yourself up over it , whatever happens you'll have a great day, and make sure you let me know how it went!
  7. HA! I thought I recognised you from somewhere! I was on a ride you were operating on the first night of fright nights last year, I still can't believe how empty it was that day
  8. Hey, let me say first off, that I am no anorexic myself, and I am speaking from personal experience...Nemesis inferno has seats specialy designed for larger people like us, so that won't be an issue, I think they're in row 5, in the center of the set.Colossus is where you may have an issue, the restraints are very tight, and although I got into it (with the help of 2 people - years ago, a bit lighter now), it was very uncomfortable.Stealth is not bad at all, it may press down, but it isn't painfull so you'll probably not have any issues with that. vortex is uncomfortable, mostly due to my legs, but you may be slightly different.Detonator is also very good, because it uses ratcheted locking systems, you can lower it to your needs, as long as it it more than three clicks, you're good to go.I'm not sure about SAW, I haven't been on it yet, maybe someone else can shed some light on that one because I have also been thinking about it too.Loggers leap has no restraints, as is the case with Zodiac, so you will be able to ride those two with no issues. The restraints on tidal wave are set to a default level, they are ok on me, again, I have never seen you so I don't know, I would think it would not be an issue.Samurai's restraints are also set down mechanically, I didn't have an issue with it, but if it hurts, tell the person lowering them so.Slammer is just painful for everyone.Rush has nice deep seats and a ratcheted locking system, again, you can set it to your comfort levels, a member of the crew will let you know if theres an issue.Have a great day, and don't panic!

    Slammer

I will not ride slammer if the que line exceeds 15 mins. I find the restraints too painful, and I don't really get much of a thrill from it. It does nothing for me. I'm prepared for a torrent of fanboy/girl abuse...
  10. I don't really have that many traditions, but here they are, you'll probably just laugh anyway lolI always have lunch at the canada creek burger king, and dinner at the pizza hut buffet, although this year I might change where I have lunch and dinner...I usually head straight to stealth, and then detonator...I always put my ticket into the machines the wrong way for some reason! On the way to thorpe park, breakfast is usually always two egg and sausage mcmuffins bought from the Mcdonalds just outside Waterloo tube stationThats about it really...
  11. I think most, if not all of the merchandise sold at theme parks, not just thorpe park, is overpriced for what it is. Granted, it's mostly for people who maybe go once a year and want something to remember their day, but for us, who go quite regularly - I don't really see the point in spending £5+ on a mug, although, having said that, I don't actually have many decent mugs!
  12. A drop tower would fit in well, maybe the same height as the one in drayton mannor?
  13. I agree with people saying th No.1 spot is an opinion rather than a rating, all three are great parks because they are individual, if they were like six flags or disney they would be boring, because they are all the same.I like the fact that If I were taking my little nephew out, I could go to chessington, well themed and fun, if I were going alone or with mates, I can go to thorpe park - not as well themed, but the mix of rides compensates that, or if I wanted to get out of london for the weekend, I can go to alton towers, which is like a chessington and thorpe park fusion mix - which means you get thrill rides and great themeing.
  14. The pizza hut is OK for salads, I would reccomend getting there about an hour ahead of everyone else (e.g. people go for lunch at the park at around 1pm, get there at 12pm - not only is the resteraunt empty - so are the ride ques)
