  1. Originally there were Three trains, although due to cost, we now have Two rather splendid looking trains.
  2. I honestly thought that track and wheels were too far from reach anyway. Your hands and arms are already blocked, so you can't reach track or wheels from the side of you.I honestly didn't find the front seats any different than any of the others (except the fact it's not as speedy). It's also worth pointing out that as the seats are raised from the floor, these brackets will really help some people jumping in and out of the seats too, as they act like a handle.
  3. Whilst this is technically off topic.. Thought I'd post this as we're all in Swarm hype mode now.Check out the huge, spacious seats, with TONS of leg room (except the front inside seats that totally restrics your right (or left) leg!) :P
  4. There were a few enthusiast events for the pre-opening (or non opening in my case) of Saw and before that, wasn't the only other big event for Inferno in 2003. The Stealth 'ride it first' event took place moments before the ride opened to a plaza full of people!Something on this scale, I'd like to think they'll do something before opening day.
  5. If there is an Annual Pass day, people need to be prepared that The Swarm MAY not be part of the offered ride line up anyway. If it is, then game ON!
  6. So Ratatouille is already going ahead! http://www.dlrptoday.com/2012/01/12/ratatouille-dark-ride-is-go-construction-permit-appears-for-toon-studio-d-attraction/
  7. Marc is right, there's often a lot of rumours circulating, and I could have easily heard wrong. Staff don't even know yet if they're having a friends and family day yet, and they always go ahead. Fingers crossed we'll have the official word soon!
  8. Thought that I'd just throw it out there, I know that people are interested in Annual Pass preview days, although I believe that Thorpe have stated themselves that there won't be one. I'd be suprised if we saw any early Swarm days at all.I fully expect that this year, the new roller coaster will open the day of the park and NO sooner at all, AP day or not!
  9. LOL corrected myself. 150 MILLION EUROS !I think that will certainlly bring us the rat, although the studios is such a cold park compared to it's neighbour, it does need a massive sort out.
  10. I believe that their site was down last night, the link works now. :)Basicly, The Walt Disney Company have given 150M euros to DLP to sort out the studios!
  11. Well, we haven't seen the details of what they're doing yet and surely a lot of it will be the (hopefully) near miss element for the riders. The mouth already had misters and water jets around it, so hopefully it will be stunning.
  12. I hated the leg guard on Raptor! It's only on that one inside front seat too. The ride really makes you want to stretch out your legs, and in all the other seats, there's SO much room to do so. I found it so comfy (just not in that seat)!
  13. The on ride cameras are on the back of the seats. The front row, if anything like Raptor, won't support it.
  14. I don't think that they've been ignored, I for one have been keeping a sharp eye on all west coast through last season and Cars Land is right up there on my to do list this summer.I think it's more the fact that it's a little further away from many peoples visiting range--need to be mentioned the Swarm, has probably taken over the UK forums too!

    The Smiler

Whilst it's obvious to see the similarities, especially around the vertical lift supports to HRRR, and whilst I'm sure Alton Towers have plenty up their sleeves regard to the gimmick, I still find it odd that the application mentions SAW as the SAME ride manafacturer.I don't know anything about this one and am looking forward to where this turns us. I wasn't blown away with HRRR, but an X-car over a Euro Fighter? Yes please.
  16. I notice a small change in the train design from Raptor too, with the inside seat's arm protector. Actually looks beter here at Thorpe. If you haven't been lucky enough to ride Raptor yet, you're gonna be SO happy that we have a wing rider in the UK. Certainlly a reason for UK enthusiasts to get excited. Now I wonder if we have any more suprises awaiting us on this baby?
  17. Not a fan of the uncomfortable leg bracket on the front seat that Raptor also has, but indeed; you can't beat B&M. LED's will make some fantastic night time shots of what is easily, Thorpe's best looking coaster.
  18. The park have a huge recruitment thing on now, ready for the season start. So much so, I've seen it pushed recently on Twitter too. I honestly think they have too many applications of 'age ready' applicants to go through, rather than applicants who are too young.Worry not though! There are always seasonal jobs coming up and by June, there will be summer and certainly Fright Nights job opportunities coming up and with the latter, do a good job and you'll be invited back for the start of the next season too!

Could you imagine if a Merlin park pulled off something like Revenge of the Mummy?

I hope that it makes much better use of it than SAW. (agh, the blacklit blades, Ooh!)

Great re-creation, but somehow I think there's going to be somekind of gimmick.. BUT WHAT?!
  22. If it's not on site already, I think that we could expect a whole marketing who-ha with it being installed or flown in by the army !
  23. Here's the latest progress of that additional theming, taken from their Facebook page.
