  1. Well it's nothing we haven't seen else where at Thorpe. Grotty, run down, destroyed. It looks exactly how I imagined it would.
  2. "Next generation technology, 4D special effects and physical transit" = Some type of Immersive tunnel. Leaving Merlin to deal with "'grand illusion" (mirror maze) and "live action", which has since been cut or closed in all the other Merlin attractions that opened with them (aside from the midway attractions). Not being negative as it certainly looks interesting, but a large chunk of those 5D effects will come from the ride section. I imagine this will be pretty hard for marketing to sell.
  3. Seems like Merlin didn't want to register them, or they didn't want anyone ELSE to register them?
  4. It seems fairly on what we expected; Immersive tunnel. The ride building is too small for much else.

    Nemesis

It goes to show what they can actually do during the closed season, which (if rumours are true) makes the TLC thing even more of a scam.
  6. Not to mention the promotional images Chessington use, with Vampire on the Nemesis track !
  7. I'm with Mark9, it will be interesting to see how it works out and how the queue/loading/fastrack all works out. Whilst all the imagary looks great, I'm more concerned about it's delivery and other peoples sweaty faces on the headsets.
  8. I agree. Glad you guys are having fun competing, but you're all looking way too much into this. Marketing will be thrilled.
  9. Well at least Trail of the Kings will be nicely painted to distract from Merlin laughing at those of you who still actually visit (only the ones on peak days). The place needs money spent on it, not cut backs although it's been in this state for years. If they haven't got that yet, then they might as well bulldoze the place (well they kinda are themselves anyway).
  10. I agree with Mark9 on this, whilst a freshen up will be nice, Air wouldn't have been high on my re-theme list. It's popular, unique and a great world first. There's 100s of other things they could have done around the park instead.

@Coaster Jamie, The reason they're not saying much is that this year has really demonstrated that the parks have been under fire and it's been up to the marketing teams to side step negativity. That's where the TLC thing has come from at Towers, they're managing us and avoiding further negativity. Chessington are doing the same with their spruce up, whilst quietly removing all advertising of their new ride and I expect Thorpe are trying to find their place in all this too. I completely agree with your point and there's enough rumour surrounding all the Merlin only flumes, that suggest this is the end of the road for the best log flume in the UK. Perhaps something can change. The current petition going round Facebook (regards to Towers) is a good step, as is the press getting wind of Towers closing so many rides next year.. Maybe with enough pressure they can reverse these knee jerk reactions that Merlin have become so bad at.

It could be something similar to what happened with The Black Hole. Not only was it causing a lot of near misses, when it needed new evacuation platforms, it was too pricey to invest in it, which led to its removal. Either Loggers needs s big job done (in regards to H&S), or they're just delaying the removal news until marketing have come up with some 'Thorpe Loving Care' type blurb to side step the negativity. See Chessington swapping 'new ride in 2017' for 'new experiences in 2017'. It's the Merlin way.
  13. I'll also believe this when I see it (the upgraded bits). This is all marketing prep work before they announce the closed rides next year. Now they'll be able too I say with 'confidence' "sure these rides are closed for our exciting TLC 3 year refurb"
  14. There's been a lot of H&S investigations going on around the southbank attractions, I assume this is all part of that. DeanGaryCox, where does it state that info, I couldn't find it..
  15. I do think that the press getting hold of the rumours is a good thing, as if Merlin have been considering this then added pressure may force them to look at it from a guest experience, rather than what the investors want. Staggered openings can be annoying, but atleast they can be available. Closing those rides would be a baaaad move.

    Legoland

Thanks Benin, I thought it was a top loader! How did you rate it in Germany?

    Legoland

This is obviously brilliant news and very much needed for the park, but what I do find curious is that with the rumours of sub-terra being SBNO in 2016 and all the problems they've had with injuries and lap bar problems, it's strange they've pushed for the same thing at another park. Don't get me wrong, Ghost looks great and will give me a reason to head back to Lego, but Saw Alive (closed), Krake Live (closed), N:ST (SBNO or very least staggered opening), it's like Merlin never compare the pros and cons of the other versions of their attractions. Still great news though, was really looking forward to this.
  18. It really does show you exactly what Merlin think of their customers, in hoping that no one notices their false advertising, by sweeping it under the carpet, or moving the goal posts. Exactly the same for Thorpe saying Loggers will reopen when the company knows that it won't. Buy your annual passes fast guys.

    Logger's Leap

Seems like classic Merlin knee jerk reaction to a H&S issue (see: the whole of Chessington). Remember Thorpe have CONFIRMED Loggers Leap will reopen in 2017, why on earth would they lie, as Log Flumes from the 1960's still operate safely in the U.S and most other parks around the entire world?? Merlin.
  20. I just saw on Twitter that Chessington have denied there was ever a new attraction, other than their camping thing. I wonder where the rumor started of a new ride anyway?
  21. The £5 flyers come when you buy any tix to one of the London attractions. If you know anyone working on the Southbank, they'll be able to grab some for you.

    Logger's Leap

Better not get too excited, as it WILL be closed too (unless Merlin see sense over all this).
  23. Talk of it closed until Tuesday too!

    Logger's Leap

What I mean is they're water rides. Thorpe would have thought one closed makes no difference.
