Which past or present Thorpe Park flat ride is your favourite?
Benin replied to Matt N's topic in General Discussion
If Rocky Express doesn't win this then this website deserves to be destroyed. -
Hex and Skyride being down for remainder of season really makes me glad I'm not bothering to visit this season.
-
Worse, they'll be Zamperla trains....... A swing launch to that height will be insane. Although I'll always regret never doing front row on the original.
-
Some YouTuber mentioned it and as such it's gone overboard as people jump over themselves to present opinions as facts as to why its a FAILURE OF AN ATTRACTION rather than a simple solid addition to the park.

There's a lot of "make it like the original version" in there again. Think most people could've figured out Sub Terra was going to reopen given all the work happening around it. Plus it was a rumour every year since it shut in the first place. Do think that people place way too much value on the words of specific coaster influencers these days. Almost to the detriment of forming their own opinions. Sure they've got a list of improvements to make, given John Burton had been spotted around the ride and all the various surveys again not a difficult assumption to make. Depends what budget and plans are available if it makes much difference.

East Coast USA: Park 3 Six Flags America
Benin commented on Mark9's blog entry in Take me to Disneyland
It's worrying when a Six Flags park (and especially one often decried as one of the worst) had some of the best operations on this trip. -
Wonder if the 7-9 age range also found the original Haunted House scary. I certainly wasn't a fan of those attractions at that age (still not big on scare attractions either). However times have changed. Cheesey lite dark rides aren't the in thing, and the rise of mascot horror and modern tastes require different approaches. I do wonder how much of many opinions is down to nostalgia almost, and perhaps giving the original Haunted House far more of a aur around it given a lot of younger enthusiasts didn't ride it. And due to those old enough to have ridden it in its hey-day of the 90s saying it was great has pretty much led to a very skewed view on things. See also those who wanted the original Bubbleworks back, it was never going to happen, and nor should it have given how times have moved on and it would've been a poor imitation anyway. This isn't helped by the way in which John Wardley is seemingly viewed these days as almost messiah-esque. He's literally a PR mouth for the parks now, nothing more. Given his comments on how they've done something great to the capacity of Mandrill Mayhem it's clear you cannot believe things that come out from him in such events or press bits. Which is a shame given that he's inspired many enthusiasts to follow such a career but I guess it's heavily managed by Merlin as to what he can and can't say. Haven't done Curse yet, not going to Towers whilst Nemesis is shut. But it's clear that there'll always be some divide over the existence. Whether it be down to those who push the mystification of the original, or those who miss the brain dead version of Duel. As a filler ride to most peoples day it seems fine enough. Definitely seems some improvements need doing and we've yet to see what the newer version of Merlin's approach is to such things. Dark rides are often difficult to get right first time after all, even the original Haunted House had its issues, and Hex hasn't always been the atmospheric powerhouse it is today. Also can we ban the term "thoosies" on here. Honestly makes me want to vomit when I see it. Stupid Coaster Twitter.

I mean it reminded me this attraction exists so that's something?

As with anything else; it's not what you do, it's who you know.

East Coast USA: Park 2 - Busch Gardens Williamsburg
Benin commented on Mark9's blog entry in Take me to Disneyland
Was Coaster in the Dark not open for you? Still annoyed I got spited by Alpengeist all those years ago. Honestly looks a top 10 coaster for me, especially compared to feeling rather non-plussed about Griffon. It's a lovely park though. -
But the influencers said it'd be closed all season because the track was cracked! Does this mean they fibbed to get Internet clout? Wild speculation really does go unchecked these days.
-
End of the day those who were involved in the reimagining were completely hamstrung by the system in question. The improvements haven't exactly made it seemingly any better than a "ride if queues are short"; and it's position without Thorpe's lineup and clientele is a bit weird considering it's not exactly the scariest thing ever. Will be the white elephant for a fair few years.
-
Bring back the Arena and the 2003 Spiderman show instead.
-
Thorpe don't want rumours about cracked track spreading let's be honest. Merlin and general theme park safety reputation since Smiler and Drayton's Rapids has been a bug bear for the tabloids desperate to cover anything that isn't how ballsed the country is. Just have to wait and see. But the only Nemesis open this year now is Sub Terra, which no one really expected.

Flight to Baden-Baden and however get from there to park. Or Basel if flights aren't great. There's now a train that goes to nearby Ringsheim. https://www.europapark.de/en/theme-park/info/plan-your-visit/getting-here

The Austrian section is nowhere near the Dutch one; neighbours the Spanish area. The Flume, AlpenExpress & Diamond Mine are the main victims, belief is that it broke out in one of the technical backstage areas of the Mine. Some of Spanish buildings also bore the brunt. Fortunately the fire was seemingly contained and didn't spread too far. Pics from inside the building below (TW for destroyed Log Flume). However park reopens today. Tweet from Michael Mack shows some damage. Troublesome though. Might not be so lucky if it happens again.
-
At least Hex has a ride portion as the finale of the whole attraction, with the pre shows building up to it. Ghost Train needs a lot more than telling people it's an experience. A massive white elephant for the park and always has been since it opened.
-
Imagine spending money on royalties and wasting it on something by Imagine Dragons.
-
Should give it the full title of The Nemesis Inferno.

Aren't most YouTubers generally? Think it's a prerequisite to be dodgy yourself or be involved with dodgy people.
-
Like the awful looking Heide Park one? God.
-
Is it a surprise that most positive reviews came from the VIP Preview night? Though when DBGT was an apparent mess anything would seem better.
-
DBGT being closed was an improvement no? Actor driven experience again still has those same issues as seen in similar attractions. Limited by a poorly thought out attraction designed around a technological fad. Will this or Sub Terra close again first?

Looks better than Icon.
