  1. Best new ride of 2012...FACT

    The Smiler

I can see the Flume at Towers lasting longer than both of those... Indeed, Depth Charge is completely out of place now at Thorpe, whilst if/when NWO gets removed and replaced by another coaster/rides, it will be similar to Corkscrew's removal...Log Flumes generally have a much longer life in comparison to coasters and flat rides, indeed, look at several American parks, and many still have log flumes that have lasted longer than Flume has even existed (Knott's for example opened in 1969 and still stands same goes for Magic Mountain's 1971 AND 1972 flumes)... So it goes to show that maintenance means a lot, and really, that's all that the Flume needs... Extra theming and a smoother ride... How? What? When?
  3. I missed this post... But WHAT?How the HELL can Det paralyse you? Completely lost on this...

    The Smiler

It would be kinda random (and in the end pointless) to replace the flume with another modern version of it... Unless they really focus on gimmicks such as backwards drops or other things, and that's not really secret weapon worthy is it?I dunno why they would replace Flume either... It might be old, but it's still popular and has been for years... It needs a refurb yes, and hence why I think it's more likely to be a retheme (with added refurb) than removal... Just have that feeling...

    The Smiler

I would think the Flume will stay... Few of the recent rumours have mentioned it (read: none)...Would be a shame for it to go tbh, it has a lot of potential with a pirate theme, which is what I'm guessing is planned for it... A pirate takeover of the Flume rather than removal, the use of secret weapon being done to distract the enthusiasts from the REAL secret ride...Could be a good year next year if things go through...

    Virgin Pendolinos are FAB <3
  7. Proof?Look at the last inversion of Raptor... It has 3/4 close encounteres with scenery... There will be NO arm guards as both Merlin and B&M will know what the reach envelope will be, and considering past experiences, there will be no worry...The idea of the gap being too large and it hence looking fake? Is beyond me... Silly point indeed...

  9. McGonagall... Badass...
  10. ^Tbh, that ride DOES make you pull that face... Epic coaster(s)...

I thought this was taken at the riots last week...

  13. Swear (like Kevin) that it always shuts after summer...Tbh though, it needs to go as it really doesn't suit the park anymore... But really, I wouldn't like it to be replaced by a ride, but some form of general entrance type thing... Allowing a nice area to sit or sommat...Maybe get a fountain... Fountains would be good...
  14. YOU'LL BE SEEING YOUR BREAKFAST AGAIN.... BLEH!!!
  15. It was a random assortment of kids playground things...Was actually epic back in the day, but Action Man lost it's popularity so it's death was to be expected...Oh well, least we have Playhouse and Capers now...
  16. A double bill on Sunday...Super 8Tbh, I wasn't sure what to expect from this film, but damn it was just good... It was just a great mix of acting, visual effects and storytelling, with the kids proving that they have an excellent future in the business... It was a good old fashioned Spielberg film even with Abrams directing, and there was just really nothing wrong with it...Family film with plenty of jumps and scares, but not being off-putting to kids aside from the beastie's look (Abrams likes them he does)... Plus the train crash of epicness is just awesome...9/10Rise of the Planet of the ApesAgain a film I wasn't expecting much on, what with the history of this franchise being mixed and what-not... But again, there was a very good film within, and rather realistic, considering the subject matter... The animation was very well done and rarely did you think the animated apes were awful to look at... A rather slow and ponderous start led up to a final frantic 30 minutes (like Super 8 in fact) but it meant a well developed story and characters were allowed to breathe next to our primate relatives...Andy Serkis has been typecast as well... But still, a very good actually enjoyable film that actually makes you think about our attempts to create genetic superiority without thinking of the side effects... Damn dirty science corporations!8/10
  17. There's BOGOFs EVERYWHERE atm I swear... Every advert I see on tele has sommat Merlin attached to it...
  18. ^Judging by reviews of Raptor neither side will be rough... It's traditional B&M smooth and flow... Hmmm, wonder if a trim will be put on and how much panic it will cause...

    Lush Cosmetics

Oh god... That makes me feel old... Lush is such a relatively young shop brand and I remember the pomp and circumstance of it opening in Croydon only a few years ago...Bleh...On topic... It smells weird... Not my thing really...

    Pirates 4D

They're BOTH awful...Pirates was better though... But that's not hard... A dancing beetle for 20 minutes would be more entertaining than Time Voyagers...

    Logger's Leap

Yes you would be banned from the park FOREVER.........In seriousness, the only things I guess Thorpe would look out for (if they cared) would be flashing, gang signs and other such nonsense... Not a small phone which could be easily hidden...

    Pirates 4D

I don't...It wasn't great, even with the decent cast... But what's the point in 4D cinemas at parks nowadays when 3D is such a prominent thing now...

    Rush

Interesting sweeping statement to make on a forum when not everyone is scared of it...
  24. It's a spare, since Rita proved to be a rather annoying ride and was often down to 1 train in it's opening, Thorpe elected for the third train to ensure that 2 train operation occurred at a regular basis...
