Yeah that's a fair point, it did appear that way though as the cars were stopping to wait for guests who were still being weighed.
-
I sent Thorpe a tweet asking if it would be open at Fright Nights and they said that it is planned to be open as usual. Maybe a technical issue causing it to be closed at the moment?
-
It was there last weekend but I didn't realise what it was, it was slowing down operations though with them regularly having to stop the cars in the station due to people not being batched quickly enough.
-
No, I'll still visit because I live nearby and don't have to spend any money on visiting, however I wouldn't be prepared to travel a long distance or pay for entry.Boycotting the park over a closed ride is a bit extreme IMO, but that doesn't mean that I agree with it.
-
Oh so Samurai is re-open then is it? Vortex was also closed this weekend, so that's two without even considering breakdowns. The ridership is irrelevant, people still go on it so it should be open. They have also replied to people's Tweets saying "all rides will be open at Fright Nights" which is a downright lie if this is true.

I've seen mostly full boats going round even in October in previous years. It's just shoddy to have it SBNO, especially when it's at the centre of the park.As for boycotting the park, that's not really relevant to me as I live fairly close but I wouldn't be willing to travel a long distance/pay for entry with a half-baked ride lineup.

Thorpe have just posted this on twitter: "Who wants to hear details about out second new maze? Details revealed tomorrow..." Is Containment a maze, or could this possibly be another maze?
-
Seriously? I know it's getting colder but that's still really, really poor. I wouldn't expect any park to just close a ride over a month before the park closes, and people still go on Tidal Wave in October. It's also one of the best lit rides at Fright Nights! Not impressed.
-
That's what I'm thinking, it's probably more practical as well in terms of people who can't/don't want to crawl being able to speak to a host, who can then communicate easily with the first actor to ensure they are sent on the right route.

Something I hate about RCT3 is that it's a struggle to get even 3,000 guests - and that's classed as busy!
-
I went on Colossus at 5pm yesterday and it was nowhere near walk-on. Stealth broke down at about 4pm, not sure if it reopened but I didn't see it go round.
-
Colossus is showing as 80 minutes on the queue times website. Clearly there's no demand for two trains though...
-
I had a look from Rush and it looked similar, however from ground level it's not very clear. EDIT: Just noticed in another photo I took that My Bloody Valentine has two doors leading from the first room - this could possibly suggest a new layout with the split-up corridors being the first section of the maze this year?
-
There is a big screen in the dome now, similar to the one outside the park entrance.
-
I have high hopes for this attraction based on the effort they are putting into the exterior, it's shaping up to be the most impressive-looking maze at Thorpe from the outside. I will be on park later today so hope to get a photo update.
-
I won't be trying Containment until I've read some reviews and heard positive ones, I just remember paying £4 to put a bag on my head when all the other mazes were much better (IMO) back in 2012. I do think it's wrong to have upcharge attractions at such an event, but queues would probably be awful if it was free due to low throughput.
-
Even back in 2013 it looks nicer! I don't like how they've let the foliage get overgrown around pretty much the whole park, it looks uncared for and scruffy IMO.
-
So apparently there is now a rule on X which means that people have to sit in pairs. I've seen a few disgruntled groups of three/single riders posting on Thorpe's Facebook page and I have to say I agree with them, it's a ridiculous rule. How many years has X been running without this stupid rule? And as far as I know there haven't been any incidents.
-
Looking back at the first few pages of this topic, look at how nice and shiny the rides are!
-
Thanks for the feedback As for something that horrifying never being built, have you heard of Terror Castle? https://youtu.be/qljPemUcQjg
-
Now that doesn't surprise me in the slightest!
-
To be fair, if I hadn't already known the storyline for S13 upon entering the maze I don't think I would have understood it much. Apart from the pre-show, the only things explaining what each section was were signs that could easily be missed. The theming was great in places, but other places were just black walls and the maze lacked actual scares and atmosphere IMO.
-
I heard something along those lines from someone quite high up at Thorpe a few years ago, but I disagree with it completely - there are a number of other reasons that could have caused the lower than expected gate figures in 2012. He did actually tell me that "if he had his way, the next roller coaster would be themed to The Hunger Games", but that was just his opinion rather than something that could possibly happen.

I've worked out how to take screenshots and find the folder they are saved in, so I may as well share a few shots of my current park. It's an amusement park rather than a theme park, and the presentation and layout is inspired mainly from BPB and Oakwood. The park uses minimal CS (otherwise my computer can't run the game , hence why I haven't tried to make it a fully blown theme park). I'm not aiming to make it 100% realistic. Entrance area; Virginia Reel; Wooden coaster (called Timber - if anyone can think of a more creative name then let me know!) Bedlam (a ghost train themed around an asylum); One of the scenes inside Bedlam; "Gold Rush" (yet another uncreative name), this forms part of the Wild West area; Element; Feedback (good or bad, probably mostly bad ) is welcome.
