    Loverly review again.

Despite having some improvements over our UK stuff, you can tell the park screams Merlin. With its fastrack, use of IP's, queue lines, style and safety procedures. Still want to visit though, even for the woodie and Krake alone.

Thanks!  It's worth a visit for sure

Phantasialand sounds a loverly place to visit. How does it compare to Europa park?

I'm hoping to visit later this year and stay in the hotels. Is it worth staying on site?

Didn't see much point staying elsewhere as we got a cheap hotel deal due to the timing of the visit - Easy access into the theme park is never a negative

It's a lot smaller than Europa both in terms of number, size of attractions, and space.  I preferred aspects of it to Europa and felt that the newer attractions were better themed and more immersive than say Wodan or Blue Fire.

Please say you did Hotel Tartuff of hilarity too?

I really hope that I can get the better setting on Mystery Castle when I next visit.  What I assume was the shorter cycle just feels a tad underwhelming.

Oh yes that was a gem too

Well the two settings I saw were

    1. A launch to the top, then launch downwards with bouncing

    2. A launch 3/4 of the way up in the dark before lowering all the way to the bottom, then setting 1

As the ride lowers all the way down again after the first drop, it may be like rameses in that they do one setting after the other?!  I have no idea, even the longer one needed just a little bit more

  4. No need for me to do a blog, I 100% agree. Although it needs to be said that the metal grating over the queue makes it horrendously claustrophobic, and it's a shame the best views of the ride are from outside the queue in my opinion.

Every picture I've taken looks the same simply because there is just a tangled mess of supports and twisty black track. Really good ride and in a mini-report I wrote (and deleted as it's the same as this), I gave it an 8.5 too so we're on the same page. ;)

Love it, already planning my next trip!

  5. Hate to play this card but I went to Six Flags New England during their halloween event Fright Fest, and even in the day bits of theming in small walkways all over the park had interactive theming like Haunted Hollow at Towers to some degree - And roaming actors. This worked well accompanied with smoke and lighting and you have a great little addition to FN without the need for a 'maze' etc.

As in, yes I totally would rep your post if I could!

  6. I was going to write a blog along these lines, more focused on the last few lines of the penultimate paragraph. I think enthusiasts are unfortunate in that we seem to enjoy rides a lot less than the general public. As in, the GP come off Colossus shouting about how 'sick' it was, and we come off saying our necks crick and we walk off to the next attraction. But maybe there's a more lasting impact for us? It is very clear that there is no dispute on forums that the 'GP' and 'enthusiasts' are completely different groups. Sorry I'm just throwing things around; great blog, you've got me thinking! :P
