  1. Look I feel very bad for those people and if there was some way to help them I would...But I don't know them. I'm not going to act like this is somehow a source of real concern for me, we are not part of each others lives. It'd be pretty disingenuous for me to say I can't laugh and smile today because of those four total strangers that got hurt. We all know J.S217 doesn't blame those four people for Oblivion being shut, he didn't throw a full blown teenage tantrum over it. I think we're allowed to be disappointed about the ramifications of Tuesdays events without being persecuted as heartless monsters, really.
  2. I make it a rule not to sign petitions started by people who cannot write in their mother tongue.
  3. There really is no cause for Alton Towers to remain closed at this point. I have every sympathy for the injured riders and I think a 'period of respect' to them was rightly observed. But the rest of the park is safe, it's been gone over with a fine toothed comb and it's time to start proving to the uneducated public that theme park rides are not million pound deathtraps.
  4. Free vasectomy, that's an oxymoron I think.
  5. The pictures on the DM are quite ghoulish. And the rumors being reported as fact annoyed me to the point where I had to make a post in protest of the outrage at a ride that had had a breakdown still being in use. Sooo much misinformation.
  6. Was every so slightly relieved to hear reports that the serious injuries are to people legs and not their necks/spines/skulls. Still bad, but hopefully less bad.
  7. I doubt a trained paramedic would just blurt out to a non family member that someone had died. Seems very unlikely.
  8. It would be great if they could boost attraction awareness also. On busy days the amount of people who complain about only getting on 3 or 4 rides is ridiculous. So many people just head for the 'big' rides and miss out on everything else they've paid for. When I went in July next to no one was going into Hocus Pocus Hall but as soon as me and my nieces made a beeline for it there were queues for the rest of the afternoon. It would improve queues if people were aware of what else there was beyond the thrill rides.
  9. Oh gawd, Vampire's currently on a 100 minute queue time. What do you even do with kids in a queue for that long?
  10. Taken from Thorpe's facebook page: THORPE PARK Official Hi Kurtis, We had to evacuate THE SWARM Island as a safety precaution, however the all clear has now been given. 52 minutes ago They don't seem to be inclined to provide details.
  11. Sorry that's all I could think of after reading your post.
  12. I never leave Chessington without my pop badge.
  13. It's also worth noting the private schools get out earlier so from the beginning of July you're going to bump into general increased traffic.
  14. I'd say if you have to go in a half term Wednesday and Thursday are the better days to go....theoretically.
  15. I couldn't decide if it was really good, or really crap. I was stuck on the fence...till you pointed out it's ability to cause emotional distress.
  16. What's this item of merch in the top left corner please?
  17. I'm shocked a little disgusted you would actually have them rip down the park's first and most iconic landmark. The Mountbatten Pavilion is Thorpe's nucleolus.
  18. If the locals really wanted to cash in they could charge for use of their driveways.
  19. If you put a multistory in place of the current tarmac car park I wonder what percentage of spaces you'd gain. Definitely seems worth it to me but then, I don't know much about running a multimillion pound entertainment venue.
  20. Imagine if instead of a hotel expansion we got a multistory car park, that would have been nice.
  21. Is there actually a scary moment in the show or is it the costumes? If the show has a genuinely disturbing element then it's actually worth me going to see.
  22. Ok I gotta know what specifically is in the Penguins show that has parents calling it 'inappropriate' for young visitors?
  23. Clearly it's the wedgie hut. You know, that private area you can quickly slip into when you need to dig your underwear out and readjust your jeans.
  24. You know words can hurt like knives.
  25. ...Aren't we lucky to get to experience the ride now that it runs through a fully grown 'forest'. I mean it looked pretty crappy when it was first built compared to the densely covered forest we get now.
